Companies that were behind this video were shut down by the SEC & CFTC in 2018

In Portland, at least a handful of other Portland-area actors were subpoenaed in 2017. Among them: another successful actor, Jason Glick, who'd been acting for more than 30 years, mostly in stage productions, but the occasional on-screen commercial work helped cover the bills, & the shoot for the Quantum Code paid too well to pass up

Portland has a thriving theater scene & an expanding film industry. It's a shame so many talented actors got caught up in the scheme. Despite the operation being stopped, the videos are still being reused & modified. A recent Tesler video specifically targets the elderly.

One target of regulators was William Earl ("Bill") Berry & his Portland-based company, Berry Media Works, which the CFTC said earned $550,000 for aiding & abetting at least 12 affiliate marketers' US Commodity Exchange Act violations. The regulator said between at least 2012 & 2017, Berry's company, numerous other companies, & 11 individuals set up websites & sent hundreds of millions of emails claiming victims would profit by opening & funding new trading accounts. The commission says the marketers hired Berry to produce hundreds of custom videos, & that at least 100,000 people opened accounts because of those videos, collectively depositing over $25 million in investments. The CFTC says Berry knew the videos he made about "free access" to "auto-trading" software had numerous false & misleading claims: a guarantee that it'd generate significant profits; use of actors pretending to be users or owners; & fake bank statements, testimonials, & demos. Berry & his video production company were sanctioned on Sep. 27, 2018 & settled in court, agreeing to cooperate & pay back his earnings. His clients included men mostly in Florida who each ran their own operations but coordinated with each other. One of them, Michael Shah, sent 60 million emails within 7 months & was fined over $22 million in connection with the scam.
