Despite making up 18% of the U.S., Hispanic actors are underrepresented on TV, according to a new analysis released by Samba TV.
The analysis, which is based on the top 25 highest-reaching direct-to-streaming and top 25 highest-reaching linear TV premiere episodes that were released between January 1 and May 1, found that 42% of top-billed actors were Hispanic, Black, Asian, or another ethnicity such as mixed, while 58% were white. At the show level, 48 out of the top 50 programs featured a white lead, over two-thirds included a Black lead, and 56% featured mixed leads. However, less than half included Hispanic or Asian leads.
Ethnic Diversity of Leads in Top 50 TV Shows vs U.S. Census (Samba TV)
Across both linear and streaming, only 10% of lead actors were Hispanic, despite the group comprising 18% of the U.S. according to most recent census data. None of the top 50 shows featured a majority Hispanic cast, compared to multiple shows featuring majority white,...

Political thrillers led Netflix’s Top 10 chart this week as “The Diplomat” took the No. 1 spot following its April 20 release date. During the April 17-23 viewing window, the series quickly picked up 57.48 million hours viewed in its first four days of availability and appeared in the Top 10 in 86 countries.
It stopped “The Night Agent’s” No. 1 run, pushing it to second place with 56.65 million hours viewed. Climbing on the Most Popular List to No. 5, the series has received more than 76 million views.
The fourth season of “Love is Blind” also moved to No. 4 on the list. Following its live reunion blunder, the season picked up another 39.48 million hours viewed. After announcing Netflix’s second-ever live special, the streamer faced issues delivering and the episode became available on the following Monday instead of its intended Sunday, April 16 air date.

How to Get Rich is a new American Netflix documentary series starring Ramit Sethi.
Remember the documentary Get Smart with Money? Well, it was a hit, at least with audiences. Now comes this sort of sequel, in the form of a series and way wittier.
Its name, not very subtle, How to Get Rich. It consists of eight episodes in the form of a reality show, but this time with financial advice on how to get a little more out of your money in a coherent way. Of course, it is specially designed to match the flavor of the American audience.
Will you get rich watching this docuseries? More than likely not, but it’s full of good advice along the lines of “don’t spend more than you make” (duh…) and the like. Good production, obvious about marketing (showing luxury cars and such) and all the bling-bling that comes with it.
