Sex & Nudity

  • There are a few scenes in Season 1 where a woman joins her husband in the shower. No nudity is shown in any of the scenes as the camera never goes below the shoulders.
  • Male nudity although no genitals are seen, number of episodes show male topless.
  • Multiple episodes have a nude corps but all private parts are strategically hidden.
  • There is a sex scene in season 1 episode 6. No nudity but a woman strips down to her bra and underwear. There is a lot of heavy kissing.
  • Season 2 has multiple episodes of women in their underwear and bra.
  • Season 2 character strips down to only underwear, camera slowly scans her body and clear side breast is seen.
  • In season 2 a woman is seen taking off her bra to try and distract a man set to spy on her through the window. It is night so it is too dark to see anything it then goes back into her room and she turns around showing breasts with nipples covered by her hair.
  • Some sex talks but no nudity is shown at all

Violence & Gore

  • A man is abruptly stabbed in the neck with a pen.
  • Every episode contains intense sequences of violence and action which can get extremely graphic for a TV-14 rated program.
  • In one episode, a man has his leg broken causing the bone to stick out and a woman tortures him by twisting his leg.
  • As the seasons progress, the violence increases. Blood spatters from gunshots increases drastically, the blacklisters become more gratuitous with their murder methods.
  • A protruding bone coming out of a man's leg is manipulated to try to get him to talk.
  • A body is disintegrated in a bathtub of acid.
  • In one episode, a terrorist makes a man stab himself and commit suicide.
  • A man has a bomb strapped to his neck. Later, it explodes; blood spatter shown.

Profanity

  • Infrequent use of "Jesus".
  • Infrequent instances of bitch, ass, bastard, damn, and hell.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Red is quite fond of Wine and is shown drinking and discussing about wines in quite a few episodes. Nothing disturbing.
  • Occasionally people are shown drinking, mostly in the background. In some episodes drugs are shown but never taken.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire series has a dark gritty tone. There are also many intense seasons of crime and injury detail.

Violence & Gore

  • In season 5, there is an episode where a woman is shoved through a woodchipper. No direct gore, but the blood spatter is displayed gratuitously throughout the remainder of the scene and any other scene shot in the wood chipper location.
  • Tom (main husband) is stabbed in the stomach and leg and lots of blood is shown.
  • A man called "The Good Samaritan" finds abusive husbands and inflicts the pain they inflicted on their wives. At the end, he tries to violently kill his own mother.
  • The Anslo Garrick episodes features a full-on armed assault on the Post Office Black Site. A FBI agent is operated on by Red. Anslo (the terrorist) blows the brains out of one of red's companions. In the concluding episode, Red is tortured.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Reddington suffocates a man to death in a hospital by forcing the pillow over his face. Very unexpected
