An excellent capper to an excellent season
alexanderelwood22 May 2023
"Amelia" is a truly inspiring episode of Bob's Burgers. It contains what might be my favorite moment between Linda and Louise, and concludes with an incredibly poignant speech. I feel like when Loren Bouchard is involved with writing the script, you can usually expect a more personal and emotional story. "Amelia" is right up there with "The Plight Before Christmas" and "Some Like It Bot," as some of his finest work. I have a feeling this episode is going to resonate with a lot of people. It certainly did with me. On the whole, season thirteen was a fantastic year for Bob's Burgers filled with laughs, heart, and some new all-timers for the show.

Emmy worthy!

Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching this season's finale and it's been a long time I have seen something so important being executed so beautifully, while never losing its wits we've grown accustomed to over the years.

The sudden change in tone of voice Linda has when she calls on Louise to have a talk, while being touched by an awkward masseur, gave me positive chills. How she deals with her somewhat struggling daughter was so profoundly presented within the template of the show that it's hard not to get emotional and/or inspired by that moment.

Besides the story of Amelia Earhart, Louise' drive and sense of competition as arc is great. Especially given the underlying search for identity and overall development she goes through (as so many 9 year olds do). All without it being thrusted upon her by her parents. It's a perfect way to tell an audience in these days and times that guiding a child is great whenever they've found a path they're comfortable enough to walk on, on their own terms, with their own boundaries, tempo, style, etc.

It works so wonderful in combination with Gene who subtly transforms from a kid with a quirky Casio keyboard to a talented boy who knows his way around professional audio equipment. And albeit no surprise, I cheered when he low-key dubbed Ms. Doubtfire as his hero.

The order of how Benj's characteristics are presented makes him a personification of the greatness of this show. This young, skilled teenager who has the hots for 8th grade girls, who *happens* to be in a wheelchair symbolizes a world I'd like to see my two year old son grow up in.

I'm not a woman so I'm not gonna act like I know what this empowering Mother's Day related episode feels like but I am part of a minority group and from that perspective I was rooting so hard for it all, from beginning to end.

Like Teddy with Jimmy Pesto's fried pizza balls, I can't wait to be able to shove it down my son's throat. (j/k)

Heart and Soul

Like The Plight Before Christmas, another fantastically heart-felt episode that is still every bit as funny as any in this series. Linda and Louise have a beautiful exchange about the challenges of being a woman and finding your own voice. The Amelia backdrop is inspiring and its impact on Louise and her growth as she works through her own disappointments is the perfect example of why the show and these characters are more than just jokes and farcical situations. Episodes like this are what make them feel like a real family that supports each other and grows together and sure, they don't always have the answers but they figure it out together and that makes it special.

an emotional masterpiece

What an incredible finish to season 13 (arguably one of the best seasons thus far in my opinion). It's heartfelt, deeply emotional, and the end credits song brought me to tears. Showcasing the love between Louise and Linda, who often are shown as being at odds with each other, was so genius and well done. The visuals of this one are spectacular too, with Louise's presentation being genuinely moving and beautiful both visually and emotionally. Stellar episode and an excellent finish to the season. Season 13 now has my two all time fave episodes, The Plight Before Christmas, and Amelia. Can't wait for the next season.

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the best episodes of Bobs Burger.

Louise did a school project about her hero Amelia Earhart.

She put her heart and sole into this project and made me cry.

Louise I believe in the magic also.

This was the first cartoon that made me cry and think of the people in my life who have disappeared into the heavens and left me here to wonder where they are. Just like Amelia.

That is why I love this show. It make you laugh and cry.

Also, Linda speech to Louise was epic and you should see it. Look on the internet or you tube for this episode. It will bring a tear to you're heart.

I want to close by saying. Thank you Louise. You made me feel better about the heros and people in my life that I have lost.😘🤣😪

What was that? I'm nearly balling.

Warning: Spoilers
Bob's burgers is one of the greatest shows on television today and this episode proves why. Louise has to make a multi media presentation to the rest of her class about her hero. She stumbles upon Amelia Earhart whilst chatting to Wayne in the library. Knowing nothing of her story at the start the episode plays both in real time and flashback. Louise falls in and out of faith in her hero, and it takes Linda to put her straight. The thing that got me about this particular episode is how the subtle emotion amps up as the episode progresses with an ending that really did bring a tear to my eye. Well done Bob, well done.

The best tribute to Amelia Earhart
bm23019911 June 2023
This season has truly brought back some of the Bob Burger's magic and this was the perfect final episode. Episodes like this where the character confronts a mature real life situation are what seperates Bob's Burgers from other cartoons. Louise is one of the most interesting characters in my opinion and seeing her come to terms with her hero being more complicated than a simple hero was actually really beautiful. Watching this episode made me want to learn about Amelia and was a really inspiring episode. Can't wait for the next season, Bob's Burgers is just getting warmed up and is aging like fine wine.

...of and episode. Season 13 finale episode. The story line was well executed and everything came to fruition/closure. Louise is typical Louise as per usual which made this finale enjoyable. The family kept up with the Jones' as Bob isn't usually that type one iota. For the overall mood it just felt like the writers were keeping this one for themselves until the end of season thirteen. I rank this up there in the top fifteen episodes ever of Bob Burgers. Funny was the word to describe Gene and Tina. Til the end of this series this episode is going to be hard to top over the next couple of seasons.

Another great episode
evilsnightmare17 December 2023
Louise's character shines brightest when she stands up for herself and others. She's always looking for adventure where others seem scared of the potential danger.

This episode highlights a quality in Louise's character we saw in Amelia. And just like Amelia had her detractors, so did Louise in the form of mansplain wayne.

They didn't call it out directly, but it's very clear his role in this episode was to represent the nah sayers and mansplainers who can't help themselves, and don't shut up long enough to truly witness or admire the greatness they try so desperately to talk over and downplay.

Louise is one of the best characters in the show, and this episode shows us a softer side to her beaming character.

A creators struggle
sandybox202219 March 2024
This one feels like it's coming right from the producers experience.

Everyone who was in a similar situation can relate:

You are doing something extraordinary, something that isn't easy or off the shelf (Neil Armstrong)

Being doubtful about yourself, questioning your own decisions and your whole project. It drains your energy that others don't believe in your project.

On the other hand, you gather a lot of support from other people, but you are the one who is in charge - you make the decision. If you quit, it won't happen.

Also you affect your surroundings. Your family and friends might become victim of your bad mood and self-doubt.

To me this is a perfect depiction of the creators struggle.

Beautiful and relatable

Warning: Spoilers
Love this episode and love how Louise's character shines. This episode highlights the plight of those trying to follow their dream despite the naysayers and those that will bring you down. Louise throughout the show is a fighter, for herself, her family, and what she believes in. This episode showed that although you may not reach a goal, that doesn't mean you've failed. It may not have all the comedy and jokes that we've come to expect, but it's nice to see Louise learn about Amelia's story and how she was a pioneer for women and those that have an unconventional dream. The conversation between her and Linda toward the end will hold a special place in my heart.

The worst episode of Bob's Burgers to date
mojorecords21 January 2024
This episode is emblematic of all of the problems of the show in recent years: everyone acts out of character, Louise acts like an angsty teenager (she's supposed to be 9, apparently the writers have forgotten this), there's lots and lots of pointless dialog, nothing actually happens, it's overtly saccharine, and they try to force some kind of empty, pointless, and banal "life lesson" down your throat. Oh yeah, and I forgot the big one: it's devoid of humor.

Seriously, what is wrong with this show? Bob's Burgers would now rather make you "feel something" instead of just making you laugh. It feels like sitting through a boring lecture, really annoying, and not entertaining in the slightest. Reading the reviews, it's obvious that a lot of viewers eat this slop up. The Bible is also the best-selling book ever written. Both it and this episode prove that popularity does not equal quality.

I wish they would stop writing this kind of trash and go back to making entertaining episodes. This is a show that was originally supposed to be about a family of cannibals, after all. Episodes like this (which are unfortunately now the norm) are dragging the show down. Season 13 actually has some decent episodes, but it's very hit-or-miss, and when it misses, it misses BIG. No spoilers in this review because it's impossible to spoil an episode when nothing actually happens.

Hardly a Bob's Burgers episode
aaron-trees31 July 2023
Every character acts out of character for the entirety of this episode. They introduce loads of subplots and side characters who do nothing to develop the story and are not interesting or funny. It feels entirely unearned when louise is giving her report at the end, I can't remember a single joke and I learned nothing. This was the best show on TV a few seasons ago, apparently the writing has done a nosedive. I honestly can't remember a single joke or chuckle I got from this one in it's entirety- and while there have been episodes that were kind of snoozers, this one was very haughty and tried it's best to be some kind of wes anderson movie. Worst Bob's Burgers episode I have ever seen.
