Charlie Puth is feeling brave enough to take a big step after getting a shoutout from Taylor Swift.
If you missed it, on her new album The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor gave the “See You Again” crooner some love. On the title track, she proclaimed that Charlie “should be a bigger artist.”
In the aftermath of the album release, Charlie subtly responded. On Friday (May 3), he hopped on social media to reveal that the recognition from Taylor had encouraged him to take a big step.
Head inside to see what Charlie Puth had to say…
Charlie took to TikTok to reflect on the “really crazy” last few weeks, seemingly alluding to Taylor‘s shoutout. He also used the opportunity to reveal that he was feeling inspired to drop a heartfelt song called “Hero” that he had been holding onto.
The song will introduce his new album!

On Saturday night, Tyler the Creator headlined Coachella 2024 with a stunning, immersive performance, augmented by special guests like Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis, A$AP Rocky, and more.
With the stage decorated by massive sets and a wrap-around screen depicting an idyllic desert scene, Tyler’s set was a theatrical triumph. Throughout the set, the visuals morphed between cool starry nights and warm, sunshiney bliss, as Tyler exploded out of a camper van, donned an epic park ranger fit, scaled a cliff, and brought out his many guests.
The night’s surprise features began with Childish Gambino taking the stage for the Igor track “Running Out Of Time.” After that, A$AP Rocky helped deliver “Potato Salad” and “Who Dat Boy,” and Charlie Wilson loaned his voice to “Earfquake.”
A highlight of the set was its second-to-last song, “See You Again,” for which Tyler and Uchis dueted across the desert landscape.

Tyler, The Creator headlined the second day of Coachella on Saturday night — a momentous occasion for one of rap’s biggest stars, coming 13 years after his Coachella debut as a member of Odd Future in 2011.
Tyler pulled out all the stops for his show, bringing out a star-studded guest list that included Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky, Kali Uchis and soul singer Charlie Wilson, the famed lead vocalist of The Gap Band.
“These are Epstein hours!” exclaimed the 33-year-old rapper at the start of his set, which he began at 11:40 p.

Tyler, the Creator is no doubt one of the greatest showmen working today in hip-hop. During his headlining set on Saturday night (April 13) at Coachella, the rapper once again proved just that, transforming the main stage into a desert canyon and using lighting and projections to create an ambiance so vivid and entrancing that it could only have sprung from an imaginative mind as his own.
To that, Tyler made the most of his first headlining show at the festival, where he has performed numerous times before. “The first time I played Coachella was 2011,” he told the crowd midway through the set. “I didn’t know what the fuck Coachella was, but me and my friends at the time, we went by Odd Future. And it was great. We were in a house. We rented a crib, went to target n—a, bought some snacks, and performed. The performance was terrible.

The late Friends actor Matthew Perry was honored at the 2023 Emmy Awards during its In Memoriam on Monday night.
Singer Charlie Puth and duo The War and Treaty performed a rendition of Puth and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” as photos of late television stars were shown, including Lance Reddick, Angela Lansbury, Stephen “Twitch” Boss and Norman Lear.
As the song came to a close, the singers transitioned into the Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts. More stars flashed across the screen before Perry was honored at the end.
Perry died in October from “acute effects of ketamine.” The Los Angeles Police Department closed its investigation into the 54-year-old actor’s death earlier this month.
The cast and crew of Friends have honored Perry individually and together, with his five other costars releasing a joint statement after his passing.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards had a number of cast reunions, from Cheers to Grey’s Anatomy. One that was noticeably missing was that of Friends, especially considering the October loss of Matthew Perry. And while it would have been a touching moment, that is precisely why the surviving cast didn’t take the stage last Monday.
As one Emmy producer told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s still very fresh for them.” Another added that a Friends reunion was on the table but the timing wasn’t sensitive. “We had talked about it early on — but I can imagine, from their side, they’re mourning someone who was still very close to them. I can’t speak for them, but we all have to respect that they were their own family. It was probably just a little too soon.”

The husband-and-wife duo the War and Treaty will have a big presence during Grammy week, parlaying their nomination for best new artist into multiple performances on- and off-screen throughout the days leading up to and including the telecast. But the Grammys were destined not to be the only awards show this season that would afford them a high profile. On Monday night’s Emmys, the couple joined Charlie Puth for a properly emotional In Memoriam segment that segued from the country-soul duo offering harmonies on Puth’s elegiac “See You Again” to taking more of the lead on a balladic version of the “Friends” theme,” “I’ll Be There,” that took it from Rembrandts territory to the land of Ashford and Simpson.
And so did a significant portion of the viewing audience get in on what has sometimes seemed like the entertainment industry’s worst-kept secret: that the War and Treaty...

On Monday night, the In Memoriam segment at the 2023 Emmy Awards reflected on some of Hollywood’s greatest losses in the past year. Among the tributes appeared Matthew Perry, Angus Cloud, Paul Reubens, Norman Lear, Barbara Walters, and dozens more. But the acknowledgments were also notably missing a number of figures.

The TV Academy tonight paid poignant tribute to those who’ve passed away in the past 12 months. Among the big names highlighted by the In Memoriam segment were Norman Lear, Matthew Perry, Angela Lansbury and Andre Braugher.
Charlie Puth and husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty accompanied this year’s “In Memoriam” video montage as it unspooled with a rendition of “See You Again.” The segment started off with Lear and ended with Perry.
Soon after it aired on Fox, fans took to social media to express their disapproval over omissions, the biggest being Ryan O’Neal. Known for his film work, O’Neal, who died December 8, also co-starred on the TV series Peyton Place from 1964-69.
O’Neal’s son Patrick said on Twitter that he was “sad and mad” over the decision to exclude his dad from the tribute.

The In Memoriam segment of the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday paid a moving tribute to several television stars, creators and producers who have died over the last year — but social media was quick to point out the omissions.
Users on X, formerly Twitter, were upset that missing from the video montage of the In Memoriam segment were Ryan O’Neal and Ray Stevenson. O’Neal, who died Dec. 8 at age 82, had television credits stretching back to the 1960s, and he had notable roles on the soap Peyton Place and the sitcom Good Sports and also had a run on Bones.
Stevenson, who died May 23 at age 58, was most recently seen in the Disney+ Star Wars series Ahsoka, and worked consistently in television since the 1990s. His notable television credits include Vikings, Dexter and Rome.

Viewers were left baffled on Monday, January 15, when the 2023 Emmy Awards left several stars out of the show’s emotional In Memoriam tribute. The segment, which pays tribute to stars who passed away since the previous year’s (September 2022) ceremony, honored the likes of Norman Lear, Angela Lansbury, and Andre Braugher. As such, Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers introduced the segment in light of the recent loss of Lear, the pioneering producer renowned for creating groundbreaking series like their All in the Family, as well as Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, and Good Times. As the presentation started, several stars appeared to the tune of Charlie Puth‘s “See You Again,” which shifted to a special tribute to Matthew Perry accompanied by the theme song of Friends. Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Richard Belzer, Treat Williams, and Angus Cloud were also honored alongside Lance Reddick. However, there were still some snubs,...

Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers took the stage at the 2023 Emmys to pay tribute to their former colleague Norman Lear, in addition to other notable television figures who passed away since the previous ceremony.
Charlie Puth and The War and Treaty — comprised of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter — performed the former’s hit 2015 song “See You Again” for the In Memoriam segment. They finished the segment with a rendition of the Friends theme song that coincided with Matthew Perry being featured as the final name in the video tribute.
In keeping with the ceremony’s theme of celebrating television reunions, Reiner and Struthers reminisced about their time together as co-stars on All in the Family, the classic CBS sitcom that debuted in 1971 and ran for nine seasons.
“There’s a Yiddish word that describes Norman’s genius — it’s ‘kochleffel,'” Reiner said. “For all you non-Jews out there,...
