from a short story written by Vasily Shukshin
toreeva6 April 2013
This film was based on "Svoyak Sergei Sergeivich", a short story by the famous Russian writer Vasily Shukshin. The shootings were done on the Russian villages with the language close to how the village people are talking. In the beginning of the film, one family came to visit another family and both sisters were happy to see each other. But their husbands, or their brothers-in-law, had a different first impressions, and therefore, a different embrace to each other. It looks that they came from the different worlds, one from the village, and another one from the city. And therefore, their communication, at least from the beginning, shows the different point of view on the same subject, and putting the viewer on one or another side. Other names of the film: "Brother-in-law", or Brothers-in-law".
