But, it’s a challenge you look forward to as an actor. That’s what excites you, makes you nervous and work harder because you are not just playing, but two and especially with comedy… With ‘Mubarakan’ being a comedy there is a definite new situation for me.”

Amazing are the ways of show world. While Arjun Kapoor's contemporaries Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan are yet to play their first double role, Arjun Kapoor is already on to his second double role. After Atul Sabharwal's Aurangzeb where he played step brothers, Arjun Kapoor is already on to his second double role in Anees Bazmee's Mubaraka. The film that will bring together real-life uncle and nephew Anil and Arjun Kapoor as an onscreen chacha- bhatija, stars Arjun in two roles. Says a source close to the project, "Arjun is cast in a double role in Mubaraka. But he isn't playing brothers this time, like he did in Aurangzeb. One of the roles will have him play Anil Kapoor's nephew. The other will be that of a completely unrelated character."...

This used to happen during the Amitabh Bachchan era. He made a special appearance in Agni Varsha but his face was plastered on the publicity material as that of the main lead. Before that the same happened in films like Soorma Bhopali and Andhaa Kanoon as well. Now, Vidya Balan is finding herself in the same situation, what with her presence in dubbed release Ek Yodha Shoorveer being projected as much bigger than the actual length in the film. "Ek Yodha Shoorveer releases this Friday and is a dubbed version of Malayalam film Urumi. Vidya just has a cameo in the film. She appears for a few scenes only," informs our source. However, the teaser as well as the theatrical promo of the film feature Vidya quite prominently since she is the most notable Bollywood presence in the Santosh Sivan directed affair. This isn't all as the only song that...

Last week Jackie Shroff woke up to reports that he will be playing the villain's part in the remake of Hero. For those who came in late, Jackie played the title role in Subhash Ghai's Hero. The film turned him into an overnight star and launched his career as a pinup idol. The switchover to villainous parts seems incongruous considering Jackie's matinee-idol looks. But he shrugs it off saying, "Even if I am good-looking, so what? Nowadays we have a lot of handsome villains. Who says villains have to look a particular way? Vinod Khanna who played villains, was one of the most handsome men in our industry." Jackie first played the antagonist in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission: Kashmir. More recently he played the bad man in Yash Raj Film's Aurangzeb and now in Farah Khan's Happy New Year. Confesses Jackie, "I enjoy playing grey characters. There...

It's a story of spirit, spunk, guts and finally, victory. How Shraddha Kapoor said no to Yashraj's bikini clause, could make a great screenplay. But then, life is often stranger than fiction. And Shraddha Kapoor made her choice when she walked out of Yashraj Films into Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatts' Vishesh Films to Aashiqui 2.The rest, as they say, is history. But behind the historic success of Aashiqui 2, there is a story of conflict and dilemma. Apparently, Shraddha, who was at that point of time tied down to Yashraj Films and had already done a film Luv Ka The End with the banner, was expected to do two more films with them. "It was at this point of time that Shraddha was offered Atul Sabharwal's Aurangzeb from the Yashraj banner. It was the role of Arjun Kapoor's moll along the lines of the one played by Parveen Babi in Deewaar.

Chennai, Dec 16: Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, known for films like "Celluloid" and "Aiyyaa", has donned the khaki uniform for the fourth time in a row in upcoming Malayalam action-thriller "7th Day".
He has earlier played a police officer in films such as "Mumbai Police", "Aurangzeb" and "Memories".
The actor will be seen in the role of an ageing Ips officer in "7th Day", which is being directed by Shyam Dhar.
"Prithvi will be playing an Ips officer, who gets suspended and from then on he starts investigating a case that has not been recorded. I couldn't think of anyone else besides Prithvi. Since he has already played cop roles and has been widely appreciated for his performances, I zeroed in on him," director Shyam.

It is always a pleasure to be speaking to Jackie Shroff. Unpretentious to the core, ever so warm and someone who gets into a conversational mode rather than sticking to a regularA mode, Jackie Shroff doesn't allow any dialogue to turn mundane. It is no different this time around as well. For an actor who 'returned' to the Yash Raj fold 20 years after Aaina earlier this year with Aurangzeb and would soon be seen in Dhoom 3 a fortnight from now, Shroff Sr. has a lot to...

No siree, the actor has moved on to his next film Happy New Year, Farah Khan’s long pending film which will see him costarring with yet another bigwig after the ensemble cast from Aurangzeb, Shah Rukh Khan.

As expected, ‘Aurangzeb’ didn’t really show any turnaround during the weekdays and ended up garnering just about decent numbers after an ordinary weekend. What worked in its favour though was the fact that it didn’t really see a steep fall and more or less consistent for the rest of the week, even if it was on the lower side. This is what assured this Yash Raj production to be a coverage affair at the least as just under 20 crores were accumulated in its first week.
Of course given the credentials attached to the film as well as the release period, it could have done much better. It had almost a fortnight for its disposal to make moolah, what with nil competition alongside and then not much challenge coming it’s way in the week ahead either. However, since there weren’t many takers to begin with and the...

Prithviraj has managed to impress audience once again with a controlled act in Aurangzeb. Being in complete control of the affairs by neither taking on an over-brooding avatar nor coming up with a clichéd portrayal of a cop, Prithviraj has managed to keep himself real in a commercial affair like this.
