Adderall is the trade name for a mixture of four different amphetamine molecules: amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharate and dextroamphetamine sulfate. It is prescribed medically to treat severe Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, narcolepsy and as an appetite suppressant for morbidly obese people who do not qualify for weight loss surgery. It has a high abuse potential and used recreationally as a cognitive enhancer, aphrodisiac and euphoriant; as a result Adderall, and all amphetamine-class drugs (including methamphetamine), are Schedule II controlled substances. Which means in the eyes of the law a college student selling Adderall prescribed to him/her by a physician is no different than someone selling crystal meth cooked in a basement.
