- "Ray Donovan" - "Fite Nite" - Sept. 8, 2013
We open on a very large man digging a grave by some oil derricks.
Daryll preps for his big fight.
Ray is looking through a box of old stuff marked "Boston." It has pictures in it of him and Terry as young boxers, plus his boxing gloves. Connor comes in and Ray talks about those days and how if they didn't win their bouts Mickey would beat them black and blue to teach them how to take a punch. Connor tries on the old gloves.
Ezra comes to see Ray. He has a bag full of money. He tells Ray it came from Ruth's foundation. It is the money to pay off Sully for killing Mickey. He tells Ray that they did the right thing 20 years ago and they're doing the right thing now. He says he has a great family and to not let Mickey poison it. He saw something in Ray and that he hopes he doesn't let him down. Ray says he won't. Ray says his alibi is Fite Nite at the club. Ray doesn't tell Abby what the visit was about.
Turns out the fat man is Sully's henchmen. He and another guy meet him at his motel and have subs and complain about L.A. and the heat. Sully reminds the fat man he can't take him to the Maldives since he's a big fat walking billboard and Sully is supposed to be invisible.
Bunchy goes to see the priest at the church in L.A. He confronts him and tells him who he is. The priest, Father Danny, claims he doesn't know him. Bunchy watches him as he drives away with a young boy, who looks a little forlorn, in his car. Bunchy is bereft and ends up drinking and fidgety.
Daryll continues to train with Mickey and asks if he's coming to see him fight. Mickey say since Daryll came all the way to Walpole to see Mickey in prison as a 15-year-old kid he says he wouldn't miss it. He and Terry give him some new fight shorts that say "Black Irish." Mickey gets a call from Rosanna Arquette. They meet at a coffee shop and she babbles about how she needed closure and to make sure that she didn't bring what he did to her on herself. They head back to his place and get it on. He marvels that he was able to sleep with someone so old. He tells her they can do it again but she says she's all set. She goes to get her bag and is attacked. Sully and his henchmen have arrived.
Abby is getting ready for Fite Nite and Ray admires how beautiful she is. He kisses her and asks if they can make another baby. She laughs and says no way and that a Band-Aid baby isn't going to solve their problems. He persists. Abby wonders why they are going to Fite Nite and if Mickey will be there. She says she doesn't want the kids hurt and she says they won't be.
Sully and his guys bring Mickey and Rosanna Arquette to the oil derrick where the grave was dug.
At Fite Nite the kids meet Daryll. (Connor is confused that he is black.) Daryll also confronts Ray about having him beat up. Ray says they should put it aside for the night and he should have a great fight, he doesn't want to see a Donovan lose. Terry is curious about Ray's odd mood but Ray is giving nothing away. When Terry says that Mickey will be along, Ray tells him not to be so sure.
Mickey, as he's walking to the grave, tries to sell to Sully that Ray is setting him up with the Feds by having him do this murder. Sully isn't buying it.
Sully's guy shows up at Fite Nite asking for the money. Ray says they'll get it when they're done. Bunchy is acting crazy and drinking and Ray tries to talk to him to no avail.
Sully kills Rosanna Arquette. Mickey complains he doesn't want to go in the same hole as Rosanna since he barely knew her. He has the big fat guy dig another hole for Mickey.
Bunchy tells Connor about how tough Ray is and what his reputation was back in the Southie. He tearfully tells Connor not to let anybody take advantage of him.
Sully lets Mickey have a smoke while the fat guy digs the hole. They reminisce about a guy they killed and buried improperly.
At Fite Nite Abby and the kids try to have fun while Ray broods and stares at the old guy from Boston. Abby asks who he is but Ray isn't saying. In the bathroom Daryll preps and wonders where Mickey is. Abby goes up to the old guy and asks how he knows Ray.
Sully says it's time. Mickey asks if he knows why Ray is doing this. Sully says he doesn't care he's not doing it for the money, or because he put his family in prison where his son died, but because he killed Colleen. Apparently he was also seeing Ray's girlfriend and he loved her and they were going to be together until Mickey killed her. Of course, except, Mickey didn't kill her and he tells Sully he can prove it.
At Fite Nite, Ray holes up in Terry's room and has a drink. Abby comes in and they start to get it on. She asks what he's doing, and where Mickey is. She says she's not stupid, she put the bag from Ezra and the guy from Southie together. She asks what he did. He says he's sorry and starts to cry. She grabs him and says she's his wife and not to ruin this. The old guy from Southie says Sully called and it's done and Ray says he'll get the money.
Mickey shows up at Sean Walker's house, where he is cradling his baby. Sean lets him in and Sully kills him.
Daryll is refusing to fight until Mickey shows up.
Out in the club people's phones start buzzing. A news report comes on: Sean Walker is believed to have been found dead. Just as he sees this. Mickey walks up behind Ray and says it's a shame about Sean. Ray asks what he did. Mickey turns the question back on him. He tells him about Sully and Colleen and that Sully now knows who killed Colleen and who covered it up so he better watch his back. Ray leaves and Abby runs after him. Ray blows up at her and asks why she always takes his side. She says he's wrong about Mickey and that she wrote to him for years and sent him money and asked him to come to L.A.
Mickey goes to see Daryll and pumps him up for the fight. At first it doesn't look good but eventually Daryll triumphs, much to even his own surprise.
Bunchy takes a bottle and heads to the top of a building and contemplates the ground below.
Ray drives. Ezra calls. Ray tells him: Sully double-crossed them, Mickey is free, the money is gone, and so is Sully. Ezra asks how they're going to fix it. Ray goes to the motel where Sully was staying and finds Sean Walker's baby.
