The Oil kingdoms documentary series are now part of the Franklin Film Archive of the Middle East, a visual catalog of footage on Middle East that spans 1980 to 1994. The film archive was created by Jo Franklin herself as she produced and complied video footage that covered the people, society and daily life. Part of the Franklin Film Archive collection are now housed at the King Faisal Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
A rare documentary series for PBS, it was lauded upon its first broadcast on the channel but it has since faded into obscurity over the years and it hasn't been broadcast since its first showing on PBS in 1983.
