The First Episode...

I really enjoy this episode. It's a great series premiere and it really gets you interested in the show. The cast is really funny and it's just a very funny, enjoyable episode.

In this episode, we meet Jake Peralta. He's a talented, but funny and aloof detective at the Brooklyn's ninety-ninth precinct. He gets along with everyone in his squad. Including uptight Amy who does everything by the book, angry Rosa, who is not afraid to get in your face, Scully and Hitchcock who are the older, sit-around-and-do-paperwork detectives, Charles, his best friend and Jake's biggest fan, and Gina, the quirky assistant. Everything goes smoothly until their Captain retires and Jake finds himself not getting along with the new.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

In fact, the US drama for the first time I've been, it was fun than expected.First interesting and fun representation of this criminal. Andy undertaken carefully so good at the role of Jacob sly actions.I thought watching the first episode want to see this drama all the way down.I want to see it come to end this winter caused a lot of vacation time. The harsh so addictive.Drama up to 20 minutes because that view also seems to be easy. The characters are good to everyone I like a lot of popularity.Personally, I think the actors in charge of tariffs role fits very well.I hope it comes quickly this winter vacation, because we want to see this drama soon as possible.

This was very daft and silly but had its heart in the right place, so this bodes well for future episodes.

Decently well-written pilot that started it all!

Good pilot episode for a majestic series. I must say that I absolutely did not expect to embark on the series. Initially, I simply wanted to compare the original version to the Quebec version, which causes so much controversy. And then finally, I'm really satisfied with this episode.

The characters, the crazy universe and the humor is very well established. Sure, it's not the funniest or most meaningful episode, but I think it establishes the roots of the show very well. After watching it, I knew that I would definitely watch more.

Pretty good pilot, that sets a beautiful, promising and brilliantly written series!

I love you acting crew, especially Jake More than the scenes of Jake alone.

B99 Review - A solid pilot
marchumim24 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In honour of Brooklyn Nine-Nine airing its eighth and final season later this year, I will be attempting to review every single episode of the show from start to finish, in release order. This will be my third or fourth rewatch, I think. Anyway, I'll try.

B99's pilot is one that I hold in very high regard to many other sitcom pilots. I feel like this episode succeeded in what many other comedy shows fail to do: develop their surroundings effectively. In this pilot, we learn basically everything we need to know about the characters we will learn to love in the later seasons in a succinct way, even before the cleverly placed recap from Sergeant Jeffords to Captain Holt.

I say "learn to love" because, let's be honest, nobody really liked Jake here. He's arrogant without the right to be, which is much better corrected in the Halloween episode later this season. Don't get me wrong, I like that he's not the "perfect man", a Jim from The Office, if you will. He just took a while to grow on me.

Personally, I didn't really like quite a few of the characters in the first few episodes of the series. Boyle especially, who is cowardly, without the loyalty he shows in later episodes. Rosa is nothing more than intimidating, and, well, Gina's just mean.

But Captain Holt, who is a great perspective for the viewer to follow through the episode, is the star of the episode. His coming out is done surprisingly well, and not made a big deal. It's handled fantastically, and I think it's my favourite aspect of the episode.

The one main problem I have with the episode is just that is feels much flatter than future episodes. It has less of a Community vibe, and more of a show that's afraid to go the whole way. That being said, some of the jokes are hilarious, with the exception of Jake's arrogant showing off. And don't you forget about Mlepnos, the true star of the show. Love you, Mlepnos.

This episode has gotten a bit boring after the years, but I mean, it holds up pretty damn well after four rewatches.

Next up: VANDALS

Best Joke: Mlep(clay)nos
