When Terry is pointing out people in the squad to Captain Holt, you see Scully and Hitchcock with a female middle-aged detective, Daniels, and they are introduced as a group. After this point Daniels is never seen again, and Scully and Hitchcock are instead seen as partners.
In this pilot episode, Stephanie Beatriz uses a higher, more feminine voice as Rosa Diaz. In all subsequent episodes she deepens her voice.
Terry tells Peralta that Captain Holt caught the Disco Strangler, a reference to the Eagles song from their 1979 album 'The Long Run.'
The murder victim's name in this first/pilot episode is an offbeat insider's reference. The wealthy murdered man is "Henry Morganthau", and in real life, the Morganthaus have long been one of New York City's most accomplished families. Even more pointed in terms of cops and crime, the real-life Henry Morgenthau's grandson is Robert Morgenthau, who was the longest serving District Attorney in Manhattan's history, from 1975 until he stepped down in 2009.
Amy and Rosa are wearing the same badge number in this episode.
