Hear the words “Twin Peaks” and a few names immediately come to mind: David Lynch, Mark Frost, Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Cera, etc. Less mentioned is executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland, a longtime Lynch associate whose presence and input was no less an absolute necessity in the series’ conception, creation, completion, and, now, home-video release. Charting the show’s production — inasmuch as one can get access to what, even after its completion, remains a secretive process — will make clear that, when all’s said and done, she’s perhaps second only to the beloved auteur as an authority.
It was thus my great pleasure to speak with her at this year’s Camerimage International Film Festival, where I also managed to see the two-hour premiere and attend an hour-long Q & A with Lynch. (Needless to say, their extended history with the man has paid off splendidly.) I think most interviews, being...

Gayle King considered scrapping her appearance on The Late Show Tuesday. After her CBS This Morning colleague Charlie Rose was fired in the afternoon, amid sexual misconduct allegations from eight women published in The Washington Post Monday, she debated whether it would be appropriate to go on the air and talk to Stephen Colbert. "I came this close to canceling," she said. "It's a very difficult day. We booked this weeks ago, guys, because I was here to talk about Oprah's Favorite Things. Merry Christmas! Happy holidays!" Colbert praised King and Norah O'Donnell's professionalism during a delicate situation. "I was very proud of CBS News and what you, Norah and everyone at CBS...

Just hours after her former co-host Charlie Rose was fired from CBS following accusations of sexual misconduct, Gayle King made a very difficult appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” “I came this close to canceling… we booked this weeks ago,” King said on the CBS late-night show. “I was here to talk about ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things.’ Happy holidays!” she added with an ironic shrug. “Which we are going to do,” Colbert stressed. “But this turned into a different day for you, the last 24 hours.” Also Read: PBS, CBS, Bloomberg Cut Ties With Charlie Rose After Sexual Misconduct Accusations He then.

Janet Jackson got a little sentimental while visiting her childhood home on Friday.
The 51-year-old superstar paid a visit to the Gary, Indiana, house she called home after a stop on her State of the World tour at the Allstate Arena near Chicago. It was the first time she had been to there in 43 years.
Jackson visited the home at 2300 Jackson Street with her brother Randy Jackson, before the two stopped at the former Roosevelt High School (now named Theodore Roosevelt College and Career Academy) to speak to students.
The singer, who is the youngest of the Jackson family, lived in the two-bedroom home with Michael, Randy, and their six other siblings until she was about 2 or 3 years old.

The threat of a category 5 hurricane is enough to unnerve anyone in its projected path of destruction. But for the most vulnerable, and those caring for them, Hurricane Irma, the strongest ever recorded in the Atlantic basin outside the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, is proving particularly frightening.
Fortunately, this beast of a storm also is inspiring generosity, even amongst strangers.
Pam Brekke of Orlando, Fl can attest to that spirit of generosity. After days of frantically searching for a generator to ensure her 87-year-old father-in-law would continue to get the nightly oxygen that he depends on, she nearly gave up hope.

(Aotn) We recently had the chance to catch up with director Andy Muschietti and actor Bill Skarsgard during a press conference for the upcoming Warner Bros/New Line Cinema film “It” which is set to hit theaters on September 8, 2017. Both Muschietti and Skarsgard are incredibly excited to bring this film to audiences and were sure to stress that their vision of the story is a completely “new and different” take than the 1990 TV-movie adaptation which starred the legendary Tim Curry.
Despite the many horrifying elements of the story, “It” is truly a coming of age story surrounding a group of children referred to as “The Loser’s Club”. It is the use of elements from childhood imagination that director Muschietti has used to shape his version of the Pennywise character and bring him to life in a completely new and innovative way.

Elle Fanning has had a pretty major month. She landed her first American Vogue cover, was named the newest brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris and just hit the red carpet wearing a Cinderella style Vivienne Westwood gown in the French Riviera for her second Cannes Film Festival.

Barry received a taste of the future on The Flash Season 3 Episode 19 "The Once and Future Flash."
And to say it wasn't pretty would be the biggest understatement ever.
Because in 2024, Team Flash was in shambles, having never recovered from Iris' death or Caitlin's transformation.
In other words, the ladies need to survive in order for the team to be whole.
Except Barry's continually finding himself in a position where he can't save both of them. He chose to go to the future immediately rather than track down Killer Frost after she made a mess of the lab, and nearly killed Julian, Cisco, and H.R.
If he'd stayed they might have been able to find Killer Frost and coax Caitlin back out before Savitar arrived with his tempting offer.
However, if Barry hadn't rushed to the future, he might not have a potential lead.

I was crying in a way that I don’t love to cry. A burst of emotions flowing out of me at one simple mention of my son; the tears flowed out of me like a waterfall. And this is not a cry I like to have on camera, it’s a tearful moment where any sane person would think to them self I can’t believe I look this awful crying right now. These are the kinds of thoughts pulsating through my head the last couple of days, and I can’t tend to shake them.

It’s been nearly six years since the final Harry Potter film debuted, but Tom Felton remains loyal to the Slytherin house.
The 29-year-old actor, who played Draco Malfoy in the movies based on the magical book series, went undercover (in plain sight) to a recent Harry Potter Film Concert Series screening in Vancouver.
Felton rocked a Slytherin sweatshirt and green baseball cap while blending in with the other costumed muggles who came to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with live musical accompaniment.
“You can take the boy out of Hogwarts…” he captioned a selfie on Snapchat that showed off his attire.

Dakota Fanning's Guide to Growing Up in Hollywood: On Acting, Aging and Leaving Child Stardom Behind
"I didn't stay quiet, I don't think," Dakota Fanning considers, before deadpanning far more certainly, "I don't think I've ever stayed quiet in my entire life." I've just asked Fanning, 23, if she went method for her latest film, the grueling Western drama, Brimstone. Not that it's particularly easy to picture the actress being the type of nightmare that mails her co-stars used condoms or refuses to break character while texting or whatever staying in character might inspire here, with Fanning playing an old-timey prostitute on the run from retribution. (Stabbing Guy Pearce because he took the last bag of Doritos at craft services?) More so, the question was whether the challenge of playing mute (her character's tongue is cut out as a result of a series of truly unfortunate events that play out in the film—out now) necessitated that Fanning remain silent on set. "Oh, no! No way!" she exclaims, letting out a high-pitched...

While Madre may only be his second feature film to date, writer/director Aaron Burns is no stranger to the world of horror, or indie filmmaking for that matter. His credits include providing visual effects expertise on projects like Planet Terror, Machete, and The Green Inferno (on which he also was in charge of second unit photography and even played the character of Jonah, who was eaten by cannibals in a glorious frenzy of brutality), and he has also worked as a camera operator on Aftershock and played supporting roles in both The Stranger and Knock Knock.

The filmmaker discussed what inspired his latest project, how he wanted to tap into the true horror of Madre’s story—rather than rely on copious amounts of gore—and the importance of trusting female instincts,...

Don’t abandon hope, “Moonlight” lovers.
On Sunday, the BAFTAs shut out “Moonlight,” which had four nominations. Among them, writer-director Barry Jenkins competed in the Original Screenplay category against eventual BAFTA winner Kenneth Lonergan (“Manchester By the Sea”). These two also compete at the Writers Guild. On Oscar night February 26th, when “Moonlight” has eight chances to win, it should take home at least one Oscar in another category, Best Adapted Screenplay.
The BAFTA for Adapted Screenplay went to Australian writer Luke Davies for “Lion.” But at Saturday’s USC Scripter Awards, which have accurately predicted the adapted category for the last six years, “Moonlight” beat “Lion.” On Oscar night, “Moonlight” should do that again.

By now, the Best Actor Oscar race usually has settled on an anointed frontrunner. And that was the case — until Sunday’s SAG Awards. Not anymore. It’s a two-way race.
Here are my Best Actor picks in order of likelihood to win:
Casey Affleck: Throughout the awards season, the “Manchester By the Sea” star has been steady as he goes. He won awards at the Gothams, National Board of Review, New York Film Critics Circle, Critics Choice, and Golden Globes for carrying Amazon Studios’ $10-million Sundance pickup “Manchester by the Sea” (Roadside Attractions) as Lee, a capable Boston janitor weighed down by sadness, anger, and depression. What happened to make him this way? That is what writer-director Kenneth Lonergan’s precisely crafted movie reveals.

A Ghost StoryDear Lawrence,Almost every major festival has a hidden holy grail, the one film that will justify trudging through thick snow, the one film that will sustain us through less than ideal conditions, and the one film that will remain in our memory long after the festival is over. But because of how Sundance is programmed, marketed and covered, finding that film is impossible without trial and error, as you probably know all too well by now. Almost everything is positioned as the next something-or-other: the next all-timer, the next Best Picture winner, or the next Juno, Little Miss Sunshine or what have you. Have you been checking Twitter, reading the press releases, keeping up with all the “takes”? When I was here last year, there was the big hoopla over Birth of a Nation, which garnered universal acclaim and was the most expensive acquisition of the festival’s history.

Ever since I first met Denzel Washington on the set of Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X,” I’ve felt comfortable with him. Maybe it’s because he and my mother grew up in the same working-class New York suburb, Mount Vernon. Fact is, I grew up in the film industry with Washington, along with Mel Gibson, Debra Winger, Bruce Willis, Kevin Costner, and John Travolta; we’re all close to the same age.
I know the way he swings his tall body into that loping, cocky walk.
