“Wouldn’t it be great to have a scene where a character who claimed to be God was in the episode, but [a man of the cloth named] Matt is like, ‘You’re in my story. God is in my story.’ And God is basically like, ‘No, no, no. Everybody’s in my story.'”
“Meanwhile, there’s an orgy going on.”
If the battle between an egomaniacal reverend and God Himself doesn’t appeal to you, then the orgy has to, right? One would hope so, but the conversation described by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta above is an intense disagreement between two people. They’re in conflict over who’s in control. Their desires shift over the course of the conversation, but the conflict remains.

Is Face The Raven any good? Yes, yes, yessity-yes. Here's our spoiler-free review of the next Doctor Who series 9 episode...
Today, the BBC has cost me 40p. In that time, I've listened to a bit of radio, caught up with the news at the BBC website. And then?
I watched Saturday's Doctor Who.
Good grief. In a series that's not been afraid to take twists, turns, to go off in precisely the opposite direction that people were expecting, Face The Raven has again demonstrated the confidence and talent that's fuelling modern day Doctor Who. It does feel like we take a lot of this for granted, but there are several flat-out exquisite moments in this episode - not least Peter Capaldi giving his work in The Zygon Inversion a run for its money - that surely deserve at the very least a lot more respect. Some thunderous applause would help,...

Could Toby Whithouse be the next Doctor Who showrunner? “No-one has asked me, no-one has approached me,” he has said…
There’s no indication that Steven Moffat will be leaving Doctor Who any time soon. He’s signed in at least until the end of series 10, and recently it’s been suggested that series 10 might not land until 2017. Naturally, though, these facts haven’t slowed down speculation of who the next showrunner should be.
On a lot of people’s wishlists would be Toby Whithouse, the Being Human, No Angels and The Game creator who has had a decent road-testing in Who writing over the last few years. He wrote Sarah Jane’s comeback adventure School Reunion for David Tennant’s Doctor, and The Vampires Of Venice, The God Complex and A Town Called Mercy for Matt Smith’s incarnation. This year, he has penned a two-parter for Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord,...

BBC One's new thriller The Interceptor is intended as family fare - but without sacrificing any "grittiness", says star Ot Fagbenle.
Fagbenle - who plays lead Ash on the series - echoed creator Tony Saint's comments about the show evoking older series such as The Professionals and Starsky & Hutch.
"I think one of the most exciting things about the show is that it has this grittiness and heart-pumping action, but at the same time, the whole family can sit down and watch it," he told Digital Spy.
"Some crime shows get so gruesome and dark - you can't watch it with your 13-year-old without thinking 'Am I exposing them to something which could corrupt them and destroy them for life?' - this show manages to keep its grittiness and its fast-pace, but at the same time, it has that family drama feel, like those [older] shows - like Starsky & Hutch and Kojak did.

Cargo Entertainment and Radiant Films International have entered into a multi-faceted, strategic partnership to expand their combined production, finance and sales capabilities for commercial feature films. This alliance was recently announced by Cargo’s CEO and Managing Partner, Marina Grasic, and Jan Korbelin Managing Partner and Radiant’s President and CEO, Mimi Steinbauer.
Cargo Entertainment is an international sales agent, distributor, producer and packager of filmed entertainment, while Radiant Films International is an international sales company funded through private equity sources which acquires and distributes theatrical feature films. Their similar visions and business capabilities make this partnership a logical move towards mutual growth.
As the first step in their new collaboration, Cargo has made an investment in Radiant with Steinbauer assuming the additional role of Cargo’s President of Distribution. Steinbauer and the sales team which includes newly appointed Radiant Senior Vice President John Short, will handle foreign sales for all Cargo titles under the newly formed partnership with immediate effect.
With a focus on combining their respective areas of expertise to build a slate of high quality commercial films, Cargo and Radiant are actively looking to jointly finance, produce and launch 4 to 6 new films per year.
The companies will work side by side on joint initiatives but continue to operate as two separate entities. Radiant Films International has a dynamic slate of titles being sold at Cannes including the newly announced romantic comedy "Carrie Pilby" starring Hailee Steinfeld and Tom Wilkinson.
“Mimi is one of the savviest sales executives in the business with a proven track record balancing sales on specialty as well as high profile commercial films such as "The Hurt Locker," "Blue Valentine," "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy and "The Matrix." The strength of her experience make her a perfect partner as we look to substantially increase the scope of our productions. It’s a great partnership and we look forward to making a number of significant announcements to take us to that next level shortly,” said Cargo’s CEO and Managing Partner, Marina Grasic.
“Marina and Cargo have built a reputation for producing high quality theatrical films that resonate with buyers across the globe. As they build on that reputation and expand their production operations with even bigger budget films, we are delighted to be partnering with Cargo. We look forward to this being just the beginning of a long and successful relationship,” said Steinbauer.
Cargo’s current completed titles include the comedy "Welcome to Me," which had the highest grossing per screen average among limited releases at the U.S. box office opening weekend and stars Kristen Wiig who produces alongside Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jessica Elbaum and Cargo’s Grasic. Their other titles include the political thriller "Zipper" which world-premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and stars Patrick Wilson and Dianna Agron from executive producer Darren Aronofosky. U.S. distributor Alchemy is releasing both films and will distribute "Zipper" later in the year.
Cargo’s upcoming films include the suspense thriller "The Price" with Noomi Rapace, currently in pre-production.
Additional titles on Radiant’s slate include the thriller "Take Down" directed by Jim Gillespie and starring Ed Westwick, Jeremy Sumpter, Phoebe Tonkin and Sebastian Koch and the unconventional romance "The Driftless Area" starring Zooey Deschanel and Anton Yelchin which made its world-premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. Both films are making their market screening premieres at the Cannes Film Market. Their other titles include two films coming to U.S. theatres in June: IFC Films’ "Hungry Hearts" starring Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher who both won Coppa Volpi Awards at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival selection "Madame Bovary" starring Mia Wasikowska, Ezra Miller and Paul Giamatti to be released by Alchemy.
Other projects include "Dare to Be Wild" starring Emma Greenwell (“Shameless”) and Tom Hughes (BBC2’s “The Game”) and "Whatever Makes You Happy" in pre-production, set to star Susan Sarandon.

Being Human will only come back if writer Toby Whithouse can dream up a "stunning" way of reviving the show.
In an interview for BBC Writersroom, Whithouse appeared to play down the possibility of resurrecting the supernatural BBC Three series.
"We all know shows that have outstayed their welcome, or been cynically resurrected," he said.
"No-one would thank me - least of all the Being Human fans - if I went back with anything other than a stunning and revolutionary idea. Anything less would demean the show. And I haven't had that idea."
Being Human - a drama about a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire attempting to lead normal lives - aired five series on BBC Three between 2008 and 2013.
Whithouse has written a new two-part adventure for the next series of Doctor Who, while his spy thriller The Game continues on BBC Two tomorrow night (Thursday, May 21) at 9pm.

Just as we were about to yawn and say pass the potatoes please, three unique Points of Play in The Game, episodes three and four, snapped us upright into pay-attention mode. Episode Three: MI5 has learned of a pending Soviet attack on Britain from a defecting Kgb agent operating on British soil. They know little save for the code name: Operation Glass. And so far, all of the clues have kept the team running with not much to show for their efforts. Murky intel has been abundant and dead people are piling up, but little else has been forthcoming: hence the potatoes. Point of Play Number One: MI6 operative Kate Wilkinson (Rachael Stirling) is unearthed, as a...
