1.49: The Hillary Within by Julie Jensen: Title aside, it is a smart, barbed and funny piece of satire
I could have done without the title referring to Clinton, however it is hard to argue with the logic of the political speech put forward in this monologue. In it a woman with a background n politics and law, lays out her platform to move things forward, which is partly based around the idea that the campaign industry (already a huge part of the political cycle) should be carved off from actual politics and made into a standalone thing. In addition, the men who seem more interested in playing politics than actually achieving something, should then be allow to run campaigns for themselves full-time, free of the need to actually hold office and get things done.
The writing makes the idea both convincing but also very barbed throughout. Actress Barron sells it with her impassioned delivery, very much in the style of a campaign rally speech; she has good comic timing with her delivery and she made it feel like it could work, even while at the same time being effective as fantastical satire. Again I am not sure that the reference to Hillary Clinton in the title really helped since, aside from the gender, I am not entirely sure that this political satire would not also land plenty of points on her door too. Other than this though, it is a barbed, funny and fairly reasonable satire on politics, that is well written by Jensen and well delivered by Barron.
