Who Killed Jeremy Sikes and How He Won so Many Bets?
claudio_carvalho13 December 2023
A bad-looking man goes to a pawn shop and pawns his watch and ring for US$ 200. Then he goes to a casino to play blackjack and wins US$ 350,000, and asks to cash out the money. He leaves the casino and on the next morning, he is found dead in an alley with no money. Morgan is processing the crime scene when CSI Sean Yeager from the day shift arrives and they end working together. Sean finds a suitcase with blood and no money in a dumpster. David Phillips estimates the tome of death at 3:00 AM, with twelve stabs on his back. When Morgan finds the pawn shop ticket in his clothes, she goes with Sean and learn the name of the victim, Jeremy Sikes. Russell and Finn watch the surveillance camera of the casino and she believes the dealer Kristi Holt killed Jeremy for the money. Further, Morgan finds that the watch that Jeremy pawned belonged to Kristi's husband Simon Holt, who was murdered two months ago in a burglary. Kristi denies and Hodges and Henry do not find any evidence of tampering on the blackjack table. Who killed Jeremy Sikes and how he won so many bets on the blackjack table are the questions.

"Passed Pawns" is an intriguing episode of "CSI", with the mysterious killing of a man that won a large amount from a casino. The complex investigation to find the killer is excellent. However, it is never clear whether the man cheated or not to win the money. My vote is seven.

Great Episode

A talented cast of actors and actresses on this show and the actor playing the homeless guy reminds me a little of Jack Nicholson and all the crazy roles he's played in. It starts off with a homeless guy who gets $200 for pawning a couple of items and takes his luck to the casino. There he goes on an amazing run at the black jack table and in the end, after winning hand after hand, is up $350K. Unfortunately it doesn't take long for him to find out the irony of life. It will take the full team to figure out who and why someone would kill this homeless man and whether or not he cheated to get the $350,000 dollars he won in the first place.

Tangled Web

A man believed to be homeless comes up with 200 dollars, takes it to a casino and playing blackjack, turns it into 350,000 dollars. Of course, the casino observers swoop in. The man is later found in an alley, dead, with no money. What takes place is a tangled mess of coverups and contortions. There is a connection to a pawn shop that keeps coming up in the investigation. Also, a crime committed in the past. Well conceived and acted out with some strong acting.
