Everything said about Romania is xenophobic lies.
There are no Romania war criminals from Nicolae Ceausescu regime. There was no war for them to commit crimes in, and there's nothing legally wrong with maintaining power by removing opposition, many governments still do it now; with no objection or intervention from the rest of the world.
War criminals who don't exist can't be rewarded by Romania. Ceausescu's successor, Ion Iliescu, had neither the funds nor the suicidal stupidity to reward the people the populace had revolted against, and had never been a Ceausescu supporter despite being part of his government, so had no reason to reward his supporters.
And Romania has never ignored its brutal past, it just has little brutality to remember. The Ceausescus destroyed lives by introducing austerity measure on the people, leaving most unable to afford basic necessities, while they lived in luxury in lavish palaces. They also used security forces and informers to wipe out dissent (arrest or kill dissenters). However these actions do not add up to a brutal history of a whole country; and have never been forgotten.
