Short But Good Interview
Space Vampires in London (2013)
*** (out of 4)
Good nine-minute interview with Tobe Hooper can be found on the Shout Factory! release of LIFEFORCE. The "Space Vampires" was going to be the film's original title and as Hooper discusses, the production was pretty easy to get going as Cannon basically threw him the book and told him to film it. From here Hooper talks about what he wanted to do with the film and also discusses how hard it was to find an actress willing to take her clothes off. Overall this is a good interview with the director, although I'm a little surprised that it didn't last longer considering the troubled history of the film. I mean, there's the alternate versions, the budget cuts, the critical reception and of course the movie not doing well at the box office. None of these items are discussed and the interview pretty much comes to an end just when you think the good stuff would be getting talked about. Still, what's here is still entertaining and worth watching for fans of the film.
