I absolutely loved this episode!
TruthbeTold26263 April 2024
This is one of my favorite episodes. I could watch the beginning a 1000 times and never get sick of it. The word loath is a massive understatement when it comes to my feelings for brian. The only real problem is they brought this vile character back. I wish they would do an episode similar to this but leaving that mutant gone forever. Maybe one day I'll get what i want. But that day doesnt seem to be coming anytime soon.

would it make any sense?

Spoilers...

The strangest thing was that i missed Brian knowing he will be not coming back this time. Being just a cartoon it doesn't have to bother me at all. But having seen almost every episode, sometimes skipping parts or whole episode because of religious aspects.

If they would cancel a character they would not place a character back that is just a replacement.

if they want the dog gone you don't take a new dog.

The new dog is just a decoy for something else to happen in the oncoming episodes.

Brian would be coming back or another strong character in his place, but we will see what happens.

The Beginning of The End

Warning: Spoilers
----------SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS------------------------

Please while you read this keep in mind, Family Guy has been my favourite show since it started.

I don't normally write reviews, nor do I normally give movies, or TV shows low ratings, but this Family Guy episode gets a 1/10 from me, as while the humour in it wasn't anything special, or bland, the killing of a major character in Brian was in my eyes a terrible move. I absolutely disagree with the killing of Brian, he was a personal favourite in the show, as for most people, and with Family Guy episodes, dare I say it, starting to become a little bit more lame as the series drags on and now with the killing of a character who still had interesting aspects, a character that I enjoyed watching, its starting to look like the beginning of the end in either the series, or the shows ratings. Although Brian was replaced in the show, with a new dog named Vinny, by the looks of it Vinny doesn't intrigue me, nor does he bring to the show a lot of humour, although it is too early to tell. Hopefully Stewie rebuilds the time machine and Brian can come back!

You stuffed up!

Warning: Spoilers
Never before have I ever seen a episode like that, you kill of one of the biggest characters in the show!

And not just that, you kill him off in such a disrespectful way it's disgusting and then YOU GO AND GODDAMN REPLACE HIM IN THE SAME EPISODE!!!! I mean COME ON it's the biggest Screw you to the most respectful character in the show!!! Brian and Stewies adventures are some of the funniest episodes! Brian was my favorite character because he's not always completely stupid and actually can be serious. Now the whole thing is gonna be Peter doing stupid things and this new dog Vinny for Vincent or whatever is gonna come in and do god knows what??? What where you writers thinking, doing something so stupid! And why kill him off, why not Meg?? Megs long running "Meg is ugly" joke has been running 12 season and isn't funny anymore! I think killing off a character is to compete with The Simpsons when they killed off a character and to compete you had to kill off the most important character!! Please FA writers.. If you see this please bring Brian back somehow!! Make this episode just a dream!

this is, hands down, the greatest injustice of episode writing history
intomyworld4425 November 2013
Seth Macfarlane, why did you have to kill Brian Griffin? He is the greatest cartoon character of all time! You have made the greatest injustice of television history. I would rather sing a song with Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black. Vinny is just a steaming pile of dog poop character who has a tough guy attitude who is a perfect match with Stewie. The problem with Vinny that replaces Brain is he does not have any capabilities like Brain whatsoever. If Vinny should make any more main appearances, the show should expect a 3 month hiatus or a possible cancellation ASAP. Vinny should be the Johnny Test and the Citizen Kane of, if not, the horrible characters of animation history.

to conclude this review, i am not watching family guy anymore and so is everyone else unless Seth Macfarlane revives Brian Griffin to reunite with the Griffins.

A new Family Guy era dawns!
aspexia26 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This episode for me signals the dawn of a new era for Family Guy whether this will be better or worse is still yet to be seen. I am not saying that the killing of Brian was justified in any way but changes were needed to refresh the show and sadly the producers opted for killing off one of the main characters instead of trying something else first. The episode itself was the first Family Guy episode to ever make me feel something and the moral of the story was beautiful in many ways. I believe they gave the best sending off possible to Brian that they could have and i am sure that all of Brian's best moment will live on in all of our hearts. All we can hope now is that they did indeed make the right decision and hopefully when Cleveland moves back to Spooner Street later in the season it will fill that void left within us...

We will have to wait and see...
Blackforest1028 November 2013
I first read about this episode online as I was out of town and wasn't able to catch it when it first aired. I've been a pretty big fan of Family Guy since it's inception in 1999 and enjoyed growing up watching it as a "safe" show that always raised my spirits. Knowing this I was shocked when I read about MacFarlane killing off arguably the deepest character in the cast with little warning and it took me a day or two to muster up the courage to actually watch the whole thing.

There was not much difference in the episode as a whole in regards to comedy style and language. Brian and Stewie had their usual chemistry that was fun to watch and Peter mixed things up with a quip here or there. The show began with Brian and Stewie running from a group of armed, 21st Century Native Americans which set an accurate focus on at least Stewie for a majority of the episode.

The critical (and controversial) event in question does not happen until just before midway into the episode. This was an interesting strategy but effective in surprising the viewer(s) (at least those who had not been on the internet before watching) when Brian is struck down. The second half of the show has probably been used by most to recover and process what they just saw. Again, besides this there is very little else of note on which to comment (which in itself makes up very little of the episode anyway.)

I was saddened watching Brian die. Not only was he one of my favorite characters (and a dog at that), but his relationship with Stewie was one of the few really rich parts of the show that had developed with age. It was also tough to see Stewie struggle in the aftermath of his death and reveal for only the second or third time how much Brian really meant to him.

What warranted the low rating? There was no further emotional digging after Brian passed. Sure the rest of the family was crying and obviously sad but even then there was a briefness and laziness to their lines and emotions. Brian was the family dog and best friend for 12 seasons, and Stewie is the only one to really say anything more than the usual, "Oh, sad, he's dead?" Even by the end Stewie seemed to recover rather well and embrace the new dog Vinny despite his hatred for him when he first arrived. I know he confided in Vinny about Brian which thawed his heart a bit, but it still was off.

I guess the bottom line is it did not feel like the show truly represented the emotional repercussions of Brian's death within the family. Stewie was much closer, but even then something did not feel quite right. A character as important as Brian dies so suddenly, you would expect a much deeper reaction amongst the Griffin's than what was given.

I can draw only one conclusion from this: Brian's death is not permanent. It was not meant to be an event (in itself) to change the makeup of the character's themselves. Otherwise, we would have seen a much more thorough look into how each family member coped with the grief.

I know it's a cartoon, but when you grow up with a show and the writers decide to sever it's most important relationship in the blink of an eye you take a bit to recover. Seth MacFarlane has a knack for allowing a few episodes before revealing his true intentions, and I like to believe he is a smart man who knows what he is doing. If my suspicions are correct this rating could jump a great deal.

Until then this was a bit of a cheap shot to the feels.

Come on people!!
vuileharry3 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I read reviews here showing that some folks actually think they were planning to seriously kill off Brian and replace him with My Cousin Vinnie!

Come on, I never believed that for a second, not even the very first time I saw this episode. Also putting in that scene where Stewie goes to the future to buy that toy is a dead give away!

They only did this to stir up some real, raw emotions and to screw with our minds, and I loved it! Combined with that episode of Brian's ressurection I think it makes for a real solid and fun kind of Trilogy.

Pain & gradual acceptance - it's about life
bastard-cynical11 January 2014
I didn't feel that I wanted to watch an episode widely publicised as portraying Brian's death.

We have lost sufficient family, friends and pets not to need a lesson in grief or any reminder of the intense pain that accompanies loss. However, this was handled in true FG style, and I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see an element of sensitivity creeping in.

Whilst not the best FG episode around, but it is a fair reflection of how terrible life can be, and I felt the message that "you never get over the pain of losing a loved one, it just subsides to the point where you can live with it" was put across extremely well.

Whether it was "trolling" or not, it was successful in attracting publicity to the show. Perhaps it was the writer's way of telling us that the show cannot go on forever?

(Yes, this is written in real English)

SPOILERS WITHIN -- This Episode is a Shark Jumper
PDragon61625 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
So either they really killed off Brian or this is just a cheap stunt to gain attention and then they bring him back for Christmas.

It's not the first time they've done really stupid things with Brian's character (like making him friends with Rush Limbaugh, for example) but honestly, Seth of all people knows that Brian Griffin *is* Family Guy-- he is an essential character to the show no matter how much some people don't like him.

There's a strong dynamic between Brian and so many other main characters in the show. Brian-Quagmire (arch nemesis), Brian-Peter (loyal friend), Brian-Lois (Brian loves Lois), Brian-Stewie (best friends)--the show simply isn't Family Guy without him. By contrast there's nothing special about, say, Chris's interactions with any of the other characters. He's just someone for Seth Green to voice, and the show wouldn't change a whit if he disappeared. Whereas killing Brian is a bit like killing Scooby Doo--and no matter how many ways the creators of that cartoon classic kept messing it up by adding annoying unnecessary characters, they managed to avoid killing off the star of the show.

Anyway like a number of recent episodes the whole show feels contrived so as to set up a situation (like the one where Brian sleeps with Quagmire's father), and it's not particularly funny. This is the "we kill off Brian" episode and it shows, since clearly not much thought was given to anything else about the episode.

Who knows what the creators are thinking, but whatever, they knew this would anger fans and they did it anyway. My guess--cheap stunt and Brian will be back, and that's really unimpressive.

The One Where Brian Dies...
taylorkingston15 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. Surprisingly, after this episode, when Brian was gone, I missed him, despite being annoyed with him in nearly every episode. It does show you, that even you think you don't like something, that doesn't mean you don't need it.

In this episode, Stewie and Brian travel back in time to 17th century Jamestown. But after having many close calls and almost altering the course of history and mankind itself, Stewie decides to destroy the time machine. I thought that was very responsible. Anyway, after the time machine is destroyed, he and Brian are playing hockey in the street. And whilst Stewie goes to get something, Brian is run over by a car and sadly, he dies. Stewie is devastated and is unable to go back in time to save him. Then, Peter decides to get a new dog, one I hated by the way, named Vinny. But no one will ever replace Brian.

Fun Fact: About 25,000 fans of the show signed a petition on Change.org to resurrect Brian.

Fun Fact: Seth MacFarlane killed Brian as a marketing stunt and to generate buzz. He didn't expect the reaction that they got.

Overall, I give this movie an 8 out of 10.

R.I.P Family Guy - The end of an Era
Micro95-23727 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
On January 31st 1999, Seth MacFarlane got the go ahead to create Family Guy, a hilarious show involving a dysfunctional American family. For many years I remained a devoted fan of this show. Then Family Guy was cancelled in 2003. Fans rallied together and brought the show back in 2005. The show continued to deliver it's witty style of dark comedy for the next couple of years. We then fast forward shortly after the completion of season 7 when creator Seth MacFarlane announced that he thought the show had run its course but decided to continue to produce new episodes.

In later years, the show began to suffer from a noticeable drop in quality, but still remained relatively true to itself. By the time season 10 came around, I was shocked at how unfunny I found it. The jokes were too hate filled, the characters quickly became very mean-spirited and they lost that fun innocence that the show was so perfect at balancing out. I myself stayed with Family Guy during its ups and downs, probably due to my optimism that this was just a faze and the show could still return to it's clever, witty comedy. Those thoughts changed on November 25th when I watched the newest Family Guy episode entitled "The Life of Brian". What I got for 20 minutes was not funny or even remotely entertaining. What I got was a desperate cry for attention from a show that has lost it's way.

To those of you who have not seen the episode I will briefly explain the summary. Brian and Stewie use the time machine to go back in time to retrieve guns that were given to native Americans by Stewie. After they succeed, Stewie destroys his time machine and he and Brian bring home some hockey equipment from the dump. Long story short Brian gets hit by a car, he DIES, the family cries and they GET A NEW DOG, THE END. Thats right, Brian Griffin a TV icon was killed in cold blood on live TV to the horror of millions of Family Guy fans. What's even more insulting about this episode is that it spends the first couple of minutes reminding you why this character is awesome. Here's the problem, Brian just like every other character on this show has become a shadow of his former self. By the time this episode aired, Brian had lost every bit of likability that he originally had. He does not deserve our sympathy.

I really had to think about this episode before putting my thoughts into this review. During this episode, I did not feel sadness,I was hurt. This episode hurt me inside. After watching the show for so many years, sticking with it even during its time in peril, the creators decided to punch their fans in the face. What hurts me the most about this episode is not that they killed my favourite character on the show, they killed my last sense of hope that the show still had that spark of entertainment in it. This episode for me was proof that the team that produces this show has lost it's passion. Even the Simpsons, despite the fact the it has run it's course still has the passion to at least try to entertain. Family Guy has nothing left to contribute because the people behind it clear don't care anymore.

I went through denial after seeing this episode.I wanted to believe that the episode must have been a bad dream because I never would have thought that the staff of Family Guy would even dare to pull such a dirty trick to boost ratings. Yes, that is exactly what this episode was for.

The decision to kill a main character was built up weeks before this episode, when one of the writers announced that a character would be killed and replaced. If you want to do this to improve the show, fine, after 13 years, change needs to happen. But if you are going to do something like this and take advantage of your viewers, all I have to say is, SHAME ON YOU.

I wouldn't be as angry as I am now if it wasn't for the fact that I know that he will come back. Family Guy fans are going to be all happy and we can go back to the way it was. Look at the ridiculous "Bring Brian Back Campaigns" online. The show will continue on its path of mediocrity until either Seth or Fox decide to pull the plug. It will be like The Simpsons, a shadow of its former self and won't apologize for it. Fans will continue to watch despite noticing its obvious drop in quality. For three years I have feebly clung to this show, hoping for it to improve but it hasn't. I'm not going to waste anymore of my time watching this trash. It's really sad that in an era that has unfortunately suffered from a lack of good comedy, Family Guy was like a shining light in the dark. After all these years, Family Guy's light has been sadly snuffed out.

That is all!

I guess that's Seth trying to send us a message.
ricardopthomaz26 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
There's a thing when a person is being hypnotized. In the middle of the process, if the subject starts to act funny and to talk strange, also if his body language starts to get uncomfortable, it generally means that the person doesn't want to talk anymore, that he wants out, to wake up from his trance.

Well, it's not the first time that Seth's trying to end Family Guy and he certainly tried other times to give it a proper ending. He's been giving us from time to time all sorts of hints that he's done with the series, but the audiences always insisted to keep it on air.

Well, I guess we reached a crucial turning point now. He's not only saying he's done with it, he's saying he's REALLY done with it. We, the audience, we are the hypnotherapists, trying to make our subject keep talking, no matter what. This is the patient giving us all the signs that he wants to wake up.

I'm just sad that it ended that way. I guess it's better we let Seth's out of his trance before somebody else in the series get hurt too. Brian will surely be missed. He was my favorite character along with Stewie.

People, let Seth out. I think this attempt of Seth to sabotage his own show made things pretty clear to us now. Let him out, before it suffers even more.

Seth MacFarlane are you serious or just trolling badly? I hope not.
joonas13428 November 2013
I was so excited for upcoming episode. Have no clue what is going to happen? My only clue was "Life of Brian" on episode title? What that could mean? Something entertaining life story about Brian? How he was borned and raised etc. I wondered.

Well... I was wrong, completely wrong! They didn't spoiled episode name like "Death of Brian" because then everybody went mental, crazy, full of anger what we are going through now, which is really devastating and cruel our fans. After watching this episode I was so disappointed, depressed and raging on my TV! WHAT! WHY! WHY THE HELL YOU KILL one of the most beloved characters on TV? Are you Seth this desperate on your show, you have to kill one of the entertaining character on the show? I mean Seth is going nuts and sets bar way too high and just don't think overall what are the consequences. Doing this unthinkable and one of the saddest thing ever on this show.

It's sometimes stupid to think why everyone is going mad because this is just TV SHOW. Well it is TV show, but one of my favouritest, never laughed so hard television series. It's just really emotional feeling when you care these characters so much, than any animated TV show ever.

Well.. I think Seth is very brave to do something cruel like this, however I think this is the message for End of an era for FG. I watched all the seasons and almost every episode was gold and just stomach hurting laughable.. I never expected on my freaking life.

Thanks for the awesome years Seth. It's sad to see if you given up, but I don't hate you. I understand the feeling writers are out of ideas and these new episodes is just lazy writing and ridiculous jokes with adding just stupidness on the limit. I'm not giving up on this show, it's optional this is just really bad joke, troll whatsoever and Brian is coming back I hope. I just admire Seth because he has guts to do something so dangerous I never seened before which can end this show! Period.

I hope we can see Brian again on further episodes and we can all watch FG in peace again.

No hard feelings or anything.

Still the best show I have watched ever on cartoon series. Peace!

Maudlin self-indulgence from MacFarlane
RogerBorg26 December 2021
With hindsight, it seems that season 12 was when Seth MacFarlane told Fox that they needed to give him complete creative control to do whatever he wanted.

The result was an episode that fails as both comedy, and drama, because there was never any reason doubt that MacFarlane writing out what he'd already told us was his favourite character in favour of another voice actor would only ever be a temporary stunt.

That 25,000 people fell for it and demanded the inevitable return of Brian was rather sad.

The episode isn't a total dud: there are the usual racist tropes, and a couple of moderately well observed character jokes even after The Incident.

But the core concept is rushed and forced, like the rape jokes that MacFarlane is obsessed with making.

At this point we were already four seasons beyond MacFarlane's interest with the whole show, and he was already busy stinking up the screen elsewhere, in Ted, and hosting the Oscars. Everything since then has just been managed decline.

Warning: Spoilers
---SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--- -Do Not Proceed If You Hate Spoiler!!- So, what can I say, this is my first review for a show/movie/video, and all I can tell you is good game. Brian, our most interesting not completely stupid character is dead, wait what? Brian is dead? My favorite character is dead? Done,oh wait, more coming, they replaced Brian with Vinny. So who the hell is Vinny. My first impression, the new dog of the Griffin family, the super wise guy, with wisdom and knowledge, joke-less, playboy-less, and just old. Family Guy has been my favorite cartoon show because it's funny with mature jokes, some dirty funny scene, and now you throw in a moral teller? what the hell did you do writers! We need stuff that are against human nature, racism, sexism, blah blah blah, not a wise guy. Of course not that I support those stuff, but gay jokes black joke etc are still fun. At least one thing for sure, morals are lame, so get rid of Vinny and bring back Brian soon, this is just TV suicide.

Emotionally epic
Megagug25 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, Brian, the talking, pot-smoking, alcoholic canine dies after being hit by an on-coming car. While this move is rather surprising due to the fact that family is almost never serious, and you usually don't need a box of tissues. Brian's death scene is handled perfectly, it was completely out of nowhere, and depicted as what would happen if the family dog is suddenly ran over. The death scene is rather short, but just as effective as if it was dragged out through the entire episode. His last lines, although simple, are truly heart-breaking. As he lays dying on the operating table, his last words are "You've given me a wonderful life, I love you all."

A poorly written publicity stunt that worked incredibly well
knoxfan200829 November 2013
I loved Family Guy in the first six seasons. I know it is cliché for a fan to become disenchanted with a show after a while, but to me, (and to most others it seems), Family Guy has declined into an unfunny and lazy show.

This Episode has become popular for involving the death of Brian, a move which aggravates me in a way seemingly ignored by most people. This episode was incredibly unfunny and uninteresting. Many people are crying and even (pathetically) petitioning for Brian to come back to the show. Why aren't these people mad because the episode contained no funny jokes, or even attempted to make the audience laugh.

It is not impossible for a TV episode about death to be without laughs, I draw your attention to the quirky 'Twin Peaks', but more importantly to the South Park episodes "Stanleys' Cup" and "Kenny Dies". These South Park episodes examine a wholly tragic and depressing subject matter whilst also being hilarious and a little provocative. They did this by transcending the depressing elements of death prominent in other shows or films that deal with death in an overly melodramatic way.

Family Guy's new writers are not smart or witty enough to use humour to lighten-up a dramatic moment, instead, lazily having the Griffins cry and mope for the majority of the episode to no humorous effect. Family Guy main objective is to make the audience laugh, and in this episode they failed. In fact, this episode was hypocritical, as often family guy uses humour to invert the tragedies of life (Anne Frank, WW2, 9/11) yet when it came to Brians' death, the writers just said "That'll be enough, we don't need to make this interesting or funny".

To me and other fans, 'Family Guy' died when Seth Macfarlane lost passion for the show and declared it has gone on too long. This is why they have to pull attention-seeking publicity stunts like this, and judging from the reaction, audience members have eaten it all up, showing that they are happy to be easily manipulated by hacks. I do not care Brian is dead, he hasn't been interesting or funny for over 5 seasons, just annoying. That is the tragedy.

Brian..

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with every one here that killing off brian was a bad move, and i wouldn't have rated this episode so high if i didn't know he was going to return. The fact is, this episode makes you appreciate brian more as a character, and few movies or series have made me shed a tear. To summarize: the episode is great, the decision to kill brian, not so much.

Bring Back Brian Griffin Essay!!!!!!!!!
kennythao12325 November 2013
Why Do They Get Rid of Brian? He was a great character on this show.Without him this show is gonna suck.Ratings gonna go down people if you don't bring Brian back.Just get rid of Meg no one cares about her.Now there is no more Stewie And Brian Adventures. Those were my favorites. But they suddenly cancel it for what to get low ratings now.Family Guy Is never gonna be the same without Brian Griffin.A Huge Mistake From Seth Mcfarlene Green etc. You Guys Are gonna regret losing Brian griffin. All Of our opinions are saying we want Brian to be on this show still he is one of the best characters on this show. This show will drop big time ratings each week now without Brian Griffin. Guys Brian Is Gonna Be Back Soon.

Something was bound to happen
tforbes-24 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
You don't run a series for 12 years and expect to maintain quality without making changes. Not that the changes may be for the better. And I can clearly tell SO MANY fans are irate about Brian's death.

However, Vinnie sounds like an interesting character from what I have seen of him, and he may yet lead the family into some more interesting, spicy adventures a la The Sopranos. We'll have to wait and see what happens here.

One thing I did not appreciate was the treatment of the Native Americans at the beginning of the episode. I thought it was lame and offensive, though that seems to be much of the show's premise.

Overall, I will not rate the episode, as I will see what unfolds.

Good bye Family Guy
ajrenzetti26 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING, THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS! Ever since season 12 started, my respect for this show has depleted, but still i kept watching hoping that a funny episode would come along. Once i saw this episode, all my respect and will to watch this show died with Brian. I heard in an interview with Steve Callaghan that his fate was already sealed before the season began, and that they decided that killing off the dog instead of a human would be less traumatic of an experience with the viewers. What an idiot... someone please fire this guy, and the writers who turned season 12 into the most unfunny and disastrous season of the series. Brian was more "human" than most of the human characters in the show, and what really irritated me was the dog they replaced him with. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but i honestly have to say this is like the writers of Family guy are trying to get the show cancelled.

Anyway, enough with my rambling. Think what you want about this show, but i honestly think that unless family guy brings back Brian (and stops with their horrible "jokes"), the series will be canceled.

Also, there's a site called Change.org, where there is a petition to bring back Brian. If you would like to petition to bring back Brian, you can google search the petition along with the keywords change.org, and it should pop up.

Warning: Spoilers
Vinny was a great character and could easily be Quagmire's or Cleveland's dog, or even completely replace Brian. But the way they killed Brian was insanely disrespectful to the character that is making the series still stand to this day. At least make him die from old age or something. The scene with his last words was disturbing and disgusting. Vinny was a cool concept and could stay in the series, but oh boy at least make Brian die in a somewhat respectful way to the character.

  • Vinny is a good character and could stay;
  • The way Brian died is what f the episode;
  • Disrespectful to the most important character of the series;
  • Disturbing and Disgusting.

Trying to fail?

Warning: Spoilers
Family guy has been around since 1999, it's provided us with outrageous story lines, generally funny jokes and has attracted fans to the TV promoting loyalty like very few animated "adult" shows. However, Family Guy is declining, less funny jokes, fewer interesting plots, little character development since about season 4/5...it's as if Seth doesn't care any more, like he's lost the passion for his own creation. Butthis isn't just some wacky theory, he stated so himself that a TV series shouldn't really last more than 7 seasons. Now on Season 12, the episode "Life of Brian" has diminished my remaining hope for the show. Seriously, killing off Brian was a bad move! Brian was the little hope left the show had, and he's been replaced by Vinnie who is about as funny as a plank of wood. Thing is, Brian interacted with everyone, the episodes with him and Stewie going on adventures where generally the best episodes produced, his awkward relationship with Lois made the show interesting and his general presence and his occasionally OTT jokes added a less-serious and more entertaining side to the show. Now though, Family Guy is left with less-interesting characters; Meg has no real purpose other than being a verbal punch bag, Chris is woeful in every sense (rather like his dress-sense) and other characters pop up occasionally but don't make an impact. Don't get me wrong, Peter, Lois and Quagmire are still decent characters with exceptional on screen moments which have produced some great memories...but Brian was the soul of the show, now he's dead. I think this a statement of intent from Seth, I think he's either incredibly desperate to kill off the show (which is a great way to tell the fans "thank you for your support") or he's using it as a publicity stunt in the hope that he will gain more attention and bring Brian back (which is unlikely. Either way this episode was dry, boring and uncomical, Vinnie's edition in the same episode as Brian's death also shocked me, just not in a good way. I doubt I'll watch Family Guy again, it's been ruined! Even if Brian is brought back, I still won't be sprinting back to the TV at night, fighting for the remote, desperate to see what happens...because I'm not interested now. Thanks for ruining the show Seth, you could have just said you didn't want to continue, or let someone else direct it and do the voices, but no. Family Guy R.I.P. Thanks for the memories. 1999-2013
