At the top of the episode, Jamie Hyneman is wearing an oversize Darth Vader-esque helmet with a flip-up face mask. It is actually an exact replica of the headpiece worn by the villainous Dark Helmet, played by Rick Moranis, in Mel Brooks's Star Wars comedy spoof, Spaceballs (1987).
With exception of Kari Byron, all the remaining Mythbusters - Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara - did special effects for Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002). Imahara also worked on Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) (for which this episode of Mythbusters is named), and as an expert in animatronics, is one of the few people to have operated R2-D2. He speaks directly to "R2-D2" in this episode.
