I was very impressed by the production values, especially the sound. Seriously, bad sound quality in student films bugs me. As for a story, it did a great job keeping me suspense and questioning the nature of the box and the house itself. Also, I liked the little details throughout the film such as the use of minimal dialogue, which made you wonder if we really know everything about the characters and the circumstances of the plot. Why was Joel's friend late? Was he aware of the box beforehand? Does the box or boxed creature have some sort of mind control powers that affect the friend and the home-owner? Honestly, I think my favorite part was the last two scenes of Joel calming walking away and home-owner acting strange and ominous. It made me wonder what would happen to them and in an 8 minute long film that's one of the most effective kind of scary. Overall I really enjoyed the film, the filmmaker has tons of imagination and has a gift to tell a story propelled strictly just on the visuals then told with any words. I can not wait to see what he is capable of making with a budget.
