Jessica Hynes has admitted she is "disappointed" with the decision to axe Up the Women, calling the BBC Two show "a special job".
The suffragette sitcom was cancelled after two series, with the channel voicing its desire to "bring new comedy shows through".
"I was disappointed, but at the same time grateful for having had a chance to do it," Hynes - who created, wrote and starred in the show - told Digital Spy.
"When you go through the process of development and commission and production, everything is very incremental… when it goes from a treatment idea to a script, that's a celebration - and then when you get a commission, that's a massive milestone.
