A famous food truck chef and restaurateur dies, Maura smells he was poisoned, luckily not the dangerous toxin she feared but a common insecticide. The team recalls the chef recently won a televised cooking competition and engaged the loosing finalists, needing the third as an accident wrecked his sense of smell. The second resented the chef's fame and wanted to capitalize on expanding the business by selling an original recipe to a manufacturer, who wouldn't respect his obsession for natural ingredients to reduce the price, notably for saffron. Maura's mother Hope comes announce she is closing her clinics, financially tainted by Paddy Doyle, hoping this will mend the rift with Maura, who objects to patients become additional victims.
