The story starts to have a form (to me, at least)

Warning: Spoilers
Season 4, Episode 3. I came into this season with my hopes not very high, but still intact on the fact that Brody is alive. On the opening theme song/credits, Brody's voice is heard and it made me think he'd appear on this episode. Well, he didn't. I'm okay with it.

Not much happens in this episode, Quinn continues with his drinking a lot and seems terribly upset about what happened with Sandy in Episode 1. He catches a 'lose end' while watching over and over different videos of the murder. He immediately contacts Carrie and lets her know about this.

Some other stuff with Dar Adal, Saul and people in Islamabad goes on. What I really liked was the small team that Carrie ensembles with Fara and Max. This makes me feel like the good old days of the great first season of Homeland.

To finish this small review, the season has officially begun for me, with Quinn contacting Carrie about this lose end. Hopefully this'll turn out into a great story.

My rating: 8.1/10

PS: I don't see how Brody could fit into the story anymore. It makes me a little sad.

PS2: Please spare my English, I try to do my best while writing this. My mother tongue's Spanish.

Back to Pakistan

Warning: Spoilers
Carrie is where she wants to be; in Islamabad as CIA station chief at the US embassy. Not everything is as she wants though; her team doesn't seem to be behind her and her deputy is distinctly disappointed to see her as he had been promised the job; she is also unpleased about an embassy lockdown which means she can't get her people onto the streets gathering much needed information. Unsure about her official team Carrie has set up a second team of her own away from the embassy and they have been given the task of making contact with the survivor of the drone attack. Meanwhile back in the States Quinn has had enough of working for the CIA although they aren't keen for him to leave; sitting at home he pours over the videos of the attack that left the previous station chief in Islamabad dead and realises it was not a random attack.

In many ways this is another set up episode; with Carrie getting things set up in Pakistan and Quinn getting drawn back into the situation. This meant there was little action, just a few flashback scenes. That doesn't mean it wasn't an entertaining episode though. It was nice to see Nazanin Boniadi return as Fara Sherazi, now part of Carrie's unofficial team. Quinn's scenes were also entertaining; Rupert Friend does a fine job as this conflicted character. Overall a quiet but enjoyable episode which left me keen to see what will come next.

Carrie The psychophat
fuad_tarin_587 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Carry is the perfect definition os a psychophat. This women's list of horrible things she has done and lie about em is crazy long at this point in the show and it just keeps on till the end.

She bombs Ayans entire family and then goes even further to use the poor boy wich later gets him killed. She promises everyone she will protect em and every single one of them end up dead. Who can forget the friend of her working for the Prins of saudi in season 1. She promissed her protection and put her life in danger by using her till she died. And now she does the same thing again with Ayan.

Also not to forget she allmost drawned her own kid. She is just a horrible mother. She brings a kid into this world and dosent want anything to with it.

And this psycho is working as a CiA agent.

Great epsiode as allways and great acting by Carrie also.

Lifeless and Uneventful
RyanCShowers18 October 2014
"Homeland" is under reconstruction, we get it, but we do not need to feel like we are at construction site, stultified and uninterested. If "Shalwar Kameez" is any indication, "Homeland" is tired and decaying, which sends a mixed message to the statements made by the pounding premiering episode "Drone Queen". On the character front, "Homeland is not hitting its target as accurately as usual. Quinn, who has surfaced to fill Brody's masculine shoes, is being written with varying character development. The Carrie and Sal relationship strikes me as frail, and we know from the past seasons the actors are magnetic together. Having seen this a week ago, the plot was so dull that I could not tell you much about it. A loss of urgency and suspense was present here, most noted during the scene where Carrie escapes from being watched. This scene was made me reflect a similar scene from the season 2 premiere, how gripping that was, and by contrast, how ineffective this scene played in "Shalwar Kameez". Lifeless directing and an uneventful narrative made for a latent night in "Homeland".

Grade: C

Should I stay or should I go

Quinn is an intriguing character, but his descent from badass killer to self-destructing alcoholic has been going on far too long. He wanted to leave a billion episodes ago, yet he's still there. Not to mention the fact that the "reluctant law enforcement character" has been done to the death.

It's a shame because without Quinn's strident note the plot is proceeding fluently towards some sort of coalescent explosion. Carrie is not hysterical, her baby is conveniently out of the way and there's lots of spying to do.
