The Point of No Return
Hitchcoc2 April 2021
A sixteen year old goes into a police station loaded with guns and begins firing. He grabs a woman and begins killing cops. Eventually, he and DB and another kid are held hostage in a room off the station. This has to do with what develops between DB and the shooter. There is nothing saccharine about what goes on. Well thought out and engaging episode with a twist.

DB Shines

Warning: Spoilers
DB's Best Episode to this point if not his Best of his run. DB proved to be a Very complex But, Good and Thorough character. He provided a calming effect to the team at the right time AND to the Mark Powell character in this episode. They were just unable to decipher the subplot connection in time to save him which in turn gave this episode it's Kick. Very Good "DB Era Episode". Very Good CSI Episode!

The Cop Killer and the Manipulator

Russell is assigned to interrogate Jacob Baker, who has stolen a BMW from an important politician. Meanwhile, Lt. Debra Hughes assigns her husband, Officer Blake Hughes, to work at the reception desk. Out of the blue, a teenager pulls out a pistol and shoots the officer at the desk, and then she shoots other officers. He runs to the interrogation room, shots Jacob Baker and points a pistol to the head of Russell. He locks the door and does not talk to Russell. Jacob is bleeding and Russell convinces him that he needs medical support, and Greg brings a kit to Russell. He asks the teenager to give some water to give to Jacob and he leaves his fingerprint on the bottle that Russell turns to the surveillance camera. Hodges identifies the fingerprint as the sixteen-year-old Mark Powell. He checks the notebook all the time and Russell believes he wants to see the news about his rampage in the police station. When the LVPD bring his mother to the station, they learn why Mark has hatred for the police officers. But soon Greg learns that someone in the station was exchanging emails with Mark for six months. Now they want to find his accomplice.

"The Fallen" is a great episode of "CSI", with the story of a disturbed teenager that kills and wounds police officers. I like the fate of cop killers in United States, since they are not spared by the police forces. The plot shows a confused teenager manipulated by a police officer for personal reasons, and she should have the same fate of Mark Powell. My vote is eight.

Worst of everything

Worst of bad hostage drama, worst of bad cop drama, worst of bad soap-opera, worst of conspiracy theories, worst of theology, worst of... just about worst.

Honestly, this episode is so bad it's funny.

Just pathetically low-quality writing. Guessing someone's idiot cousin wanted a SAG card, so cousin got to write this episode?

Guess what: an ordinary interrogation room camera can zoom in on a bottle, and manage to get a picture good enough to read a thumb-print? I have an easier time with believing that there's a field DNA computer that can run DNA in 30 seconds and search the entire database for matches at the same time.

This episode is a joke, and a bad one. Must have been hard for the cast to keep straight faces with dialog this bad.

Gee, I guess it's a good thing this wasn't aired 6 years later, when it might have given people ideas. Good thing that situation was purely fictional.

Awful episode
jimbokwright22 February 2024
Everyone involved with this episode should be ashamed of themselves particularly Writer Deanna Shumaker. This is just an awful effort for what has been a terrific long running show. Ted Danson's DB character continues to be a weak point but that's the fault of the script writers not the actors. All of the actors slept walked through this one though. Who can blame them with such a ridiculous story and such awful production and direction. Nothing about this one is in anyway reasonable or realistic at all. After 14 seasons of this is the crap they are going to shovel at us I'd rather they just end the show. The king running cast members deserve much much better!
