I loved Heroes...but this is not it anymore
dumeryarne25 January 2016
Before you read further, I am the kind of reviewer that just wants to see a good movie/series. I am not going to compare anything with books,am not going to judge acting on details,... I just want to see a good thing without having to much expectations.

Wow...the first time I saw that heroes reborn was out I got high hopes. Since the Heroes series I was waiting to find something similar.

The first episodes start good in my opinion. It doesn't give it all away just like the first heroes. But... After having watched the whole thing it looks like so many cool things could be done with the powers of ever character. Thats what made Heroes so good, the building up, the new aspects every episode, leading to a great end.

If you are a fan of Heroes i would still recommend to watch it because i know you like this kind of series. But also you will be disappointed at the end.

I don't think it can recreate it's former glory.
Shopaholic3519 December 2015
I'm just not completely sold on Heroes Reborn. Unfortunately it just doesn't compare to the first few seasons of the original show. While it's not bad and it does have potential to progress into a semi-decent show I still think it needs to iron out the kinks. So far I don't love the villains and aside from the original cast the new characters are a bit weak. Maybe with time and as their true potential starts to show I may feel more invested.

If I could change anything I would make the first season less "end of the world" catastrophe focused. They really just delved into it without properly establishing a backstory. And I'm not sure if I just can't remember the finale of Heroes but the continuing story just doesn't make sense. This show could be much worse though.

I think it's pretty good
adamjohan9 November 2015
Well i think how they made the storyline of the show is quite interesting. Although, i am very disappointed that not a lot of the main characters of Heroes didn't get to reprise their roles. I think it would become an even better (higher rating) show if they actually included more of the old characters. I mean i'm pretty sure everyone wants to know what happened to the old characters, Ando, Peter <3, Sylar ((who was already a good guy in the last episode of Season 4 of Heroes)) and all of the other familiar faces. It would be super awesome to see Sylar as the hero of the show for once. I really really hope that if Heroes: Reborn gets a Season 2, just for the sake of saving the show, please include more of the original Heroes characters. Overall, I absolutely love the show, especially how it's not always revolving around just American characters but also other people from across the world, we shouldn't have had to wait 5 years for the return of Heroes :')

p/s: I would love to be part of the show.

Bye bye good memories
edbk2 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
How excited I got from seeing the teaser during the Superbowl, how frustrated I am now from seeing the first episode. Five years have passed after the last season of Heroes. So you would think they would have had enough time to come up with a story as original as season 1 and 2. Instead they proceed on the same level of story telling as season 3 and 4. For the ones that have not seen those seasons, I can tell you those weren't any good.

The first few minutes start off quite nice. It's good to see Noah Bennett again, hear the theme song and see some of the strange powers come into play. But, after a big explosion he appears to be the sole survivor. Quite convenient isn't it. Only a few minutes into the new show and this already struck me as odd.

As other reviewers have already pointed out, there are more 'oddities' to this show. A 15 year old girl working in a ice cream parlor and already conducting the job interviews. A boy in the same ice cream parlor sees a business card of that same parlor and immediately knows that's the one he left in the place where an explosion took place. Although it had the same smiley signed on it, it still could've been a random card. And of course, pom poms are literally everywhere. What a cliché.

But the thing that nearly made me switch off my TV was without a doubt the Katana girl. I don't even want to say too much about it, since everything has already been said. But seriously come on, after five years you come up with a girl that morphs into a video game to save her dad. That's the best you can do?

The only thing that keeps me going in this show is the mystery of not knowing what Noah apparently has forgotten and what is 'coming'. That and maybe some cameo's of old characters. For everything else, all I can say is thank you Tim Kring for ruining our last fond memories of Heroes.

Update Nov 11: Having seen ep 7 and 8, I have to change my opinion about this show. It's really picking up. The plot is unveilling and although at first I thought it was only getting worse, it's very interesting now. They finally give explanations to who is Katana Girl, why is Joanne trying to kill all the Evo's, why does the world need to be saved again and by who. Hopefully they will keep this up towards the end of season 1. I am changing my vote and can't wait for ep 9.

It has potential
lenalotz7 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what to think of Heroes Reborn. It's actually really good, better than I thought. But at first: For example Sylar and Peter are missing. They have been a important part of the show. I know that Zachary Quinto doesn't wanted to play Sylar anymore, but they could have explained what happened to him instead of that he just disappeared and nobody seems to remember him. It's a new show and we shouldn't compare them to much but if they call themselves a sequel of 'Heroes' then they should complete the other story at first and then start a new storyline. But well they didn't so we have to live with that. The new characters are cool. (In my opinion Miko and Joanne are the best) I like that they kept the changing between the characters like they are individual plots but it's still one plot but from different views. Even if it's been a little bit too much at the end when they changed the time like every five minutes (one year ago, four month ago, three weeks ago,..) And I think it's stupid to say that Claire died. Well, obviously she didn't (I'm looking forward if she maybe comes back or they tell us what happened) but in the Original Heroes they always been like: She can't die! She survived another explosion already. Remember the explosion in their house in Odessa? It really doesn't make sense to me. But I think it's great that they brought Molly Walker back. I've been sad that she just disappeared after season 2 or something without any explanation. The Japan time line is (like the old one) funny and entertaining and I'm excited to see more from Miko and her friend. And I'm pretty curious when Hiro will appear and what he has to do with them. (I'm sure he has) The bad guys, Joanne (I mentioned her before) and Luke, are one my favorite story lines. I guess they are the replacement for Sylar and even if nothing can be better than him, the did a good job as the evil guys. After all I think it has potential but it's not as good as the old show.

show continues to develop and get better
han-440986 November 2015
Being a big fan of Heroes season 1, I was sad to see how the original show started getting worse as each season progressed.

I was excited for a reboot, and as I watched the first 3 episodes, it seemed that the show was not as good as the original.

HOWEVER, as I continue to watch, especially with the most recent episode of June 13 part 2, I can say that this show is really kicking off. The build up is finally worth it and the show is becoming very interesting; I am actually now really eager to watch the upcoming episodes. They cover many of the confusions and questions you may have earlier, and do it with a pretty good/satisfying explanation.

Sure there are plot holes (when are there no plot holes when you involve super powers and time travel..) but I believe the show is truly doing its job in giving reasonable explanations. More importantly, the show is very entertaining and interesting and has people wanting to see more as the series continues.

I do hope the series continues this momentum, and if it does, I REALLY do hope they make a second season. I am enjoying the show very much now and would suggest others to start the series if they haven't.

Not as good as the original
pointsss27 September 2015
I have to start by saying I really liked the original Heroes. Especially the first 2 season were masterpieces. There was a brilliant mystery that was making me want to see more and more.

Unfortunately i can't say the same about Heroes Reborn. There are obvious plot holes and even some ridiculous segments. There is an Asian girl who lives alone, have no friends, no family and all that she does is stay in her apartment out of convenience for the plot and this is not even the worst part. She has to safe her father....from a video game, where she can teleport or whatever and when she does that you see it in a computer graphics video.

The show is copying a lot from the its predecessor like the main characters are again of Asian, Latin and obviously American origin. Their development, however, is lacking and is not as clever as the original. There is a mystery but this time it is created in the most stupid way - by coincidences that stop the main character from finding what he actually used to know.

Another downfall to the show is that there are too many children in the main characters. I mean is this supposed to be a teen show?

I still keep my hope alive that the show will get better and develop the mystery properly and make me want more and more like the original.

Cant stand the Joanne character - otherwise LOVE it!
lil_nitelite26 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OK I love the twists and turns in this, and the working backward thing is alright as well. I like that they named the powers and what they are trying to do. Love the different lives and stories. For me, the only thing that spoils the whole thing is Joanne. I CANNOT STAND her. Her whole character and persona makes NO SENSE. I just cant understand why she does what she does. As much as I like this whole show, she and her constant hey lets go kill Evos just irritates the hell out of me. I like Tommy, he has this really fresh faced young vibe that I like. I have seen him in other things and he is just as good in that. Overall I like the new one, although I think the older version is better. I def think if you have not seen the old one, watch it first. It will make a bit more sense.

Yatta! It's Back!

Warning: Spoilers
Vague/Minor Spoilers

The original season has been a show that I can remember so clearly it must have had some kind of effect on me as a child. The pilot episode, especially, remembering Claire Bennet jumping off a refinery platform, "attempt number 6", trying to purposely hurt herself. It really set the tone for, at least, the first season that the show was going to be somewhat realistic whenever showing when physical harm would befall one of the main characters.

As the seasons went on the show deteriorated in quality and was soon cancelled after four seasons. What came as a huge surprise to me was five years later it would be returning and the hype I had for it begun instantly.

Finally, after a long wait of almost a year the first two episodes aired in a 2 hour block and I was hooked for almost all of it. The returning series takes place one year after a terrorist attack at the Evo Summit on June 13th in Odessa, Texas. The attack demolished the city and the 'Heroes' or 'Evos' (evolved humans) as they are known in the show, are blamed for it. One nice detail that I really like that came directly from the Series creator Tim Kring is the show made it as if the series had carried on off screen and it takes place 5 years after Claire Bennet jumped off the Ferris wheel and told the world that there were people out there with special abilities.

To start off with the positives, as soon as the main theme hit I had goosebumps and it immediately brought me back to the pilot. It fit the tone of the original series perfectly and even though "Reborn" has a slightly different feel to it, it still holds up extremely well.

Another positive was with most of the new cast. Zachary Levi portraying Luke Collins was, in my opinion, the best of the newcomers. Ever since I had seen him in "Chuck" he brings something different to this series as he is no longer playing the awkward nerd. Him and his wife Joanne, portrayed by Judith Shekoni, were at the Evo Summit and had to witness their son die in the explosion and now they want revenge against people with powers because they believe they took their son away from them.

Gatlin Green plays Emily Duval who is a secret keeper and ally/love interest of sorts to Robbie A. Kay's character Tommy Clarke who has the ability to teleport both objects and people. These two I thought were serviceable enough, however, were not as good as Levi. Their "high school storyline", one nerdy guy who has a crush on a girl going out with the popular bully, starts off pretty much like you would expect it and seems to be a predictable, paint-by-numbers storyline. Something happens in the back half of the episode that tweaks it just a little bit which at least gives it some kind of life and interest that otherwise wouldn't be there. Otherwise, if it weren't for the involvement of Levi and Shekoni then it could potentially be some tough scenes to get through. Another character that gives this storyline some intrigue is a mysterious unnamed man, portrayed by Pruitt Taylor Vince who is watching Tommy and seems to be protecting him through the use of his ability to seemingly erase people's memory, but for what reason we do not know… yet.

There are many moving parts in the first two episodes and it would be interesting to see how they all intersect, especially, Miko Otomo, played by Kiki Sukezane and Ren Shimosawa, played by Toru Uchikado. As their storyline so far takes place in Japan and of course it is extremely likely that they'll somehow find their way to the U.S., either through teleportation or space-time travel, like Hiro Nakamura in the original series. I did think this storyline was quite odd and so far out there, even in the world of Heroes that it felt out of place whenever they jumped into the video game it really took me out of the show. Although I do like the concept, the execution felt like it missed the mark but I am still intrigued as to where it could be going.

The next storyline that we are shown involves Carlos Gutierrez, portrayed by Ryan Guzman, returning home from war and finds his little brother Jose, played by Lucius Hoyos, looks up to a vigilante who is known as El Vengador. This storyline was mildly entertaining

The storyline that we saw most of involving Jack Coleman who returns from the original series as Noah Bennet A.K.A "HRG" who was in the middle of the explosion in Odessa and he believes his daughter, Claire, was killed in the incident. He teams up with Quentin, portrayed by Henry Zebrowski, who is convinced that there is more to the story with what happened on June 13th. Their storyline is very intriguing and is no doubt driving the series. It does however not feel entirely different from what we have seen before.

All in all, I felt like this was a nice starting point for "Heroes Reborn" and it was definitely better than anything seasons 3 and 4 could throw at us. I think there is still a lot of room for improvement over its 13 episode run while at the same time it brought me back into the series and reminded me of why I loved the first season so much.

bit slow but a good show
b-644309 October 2015
I'd like to consider myself a huge fan of this show. I understand the time jump but given the pre-story of the show, the mini-series seems to be dragging at at snail pace. Maybe it is just me wanting the story to pick up from the beginning since its only 13 episodes. A few things that frustrate me. The married couple killing evos "out of nowhere" kind of seems like they have one purpose to the show which is to avenge the death of their son, but that deranged batsh!t wife, I honestly think she has no purpose in "heroes". It probably would have been better if Zachery Levi's character was the lone warrior hunting evos down himself, finding his purpose of why he's doing so but she needs to go! HRG's absent memory is bizarre, I mean given the character's actions throughout heroes, he was always for protecting Claire, now all of a sudden he's out protect all the evos that are left in the world because of one KEY memory is gone that would actually prevent him from doing so. I hope they reveal what he wanted to forget, soon. There are a lot of other things, but these two stuck out the most. I do enjoy the series but they really need to pick up the pace.

Who wrote this script? It's really bad, people don't act like that irl
omicronperseilambda27 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The overall plot isn't bad, but it isn't great either. What really made the first episode terrible is how badly written the script is, its the little things that are just so odd and make the story seem forced. Its like reading a bad story written by a 15 year old.

Why would one have a soda can while giving a speech? why would one bring alcohol to a school? and then poor it into a soda can WHILE giving a speech... a very forced attempt to show an alcoholic spiking his drink, when afterwards we see him drinking 3 or 4 other times. We get it, he's an alcoholic. How conveniently his brother waits until morning to suddenly die, so he can say good bye ...

The girl and the bully boyfriend. uhggg... This cliché was carried out in the most cliché way ever, and then at the school they were just hanging out in a random shed. And the cheerleaders carrying the pom poms everywhere like they are about to do a flash mob. Why is a 15 year old girl giving interviews for a job she works part time at?

In Japan the girl has her door unlocked, and has only just seemed to notice her dad has gone missing. When she opens his office, the place is covered in dust, but the lights are already on.

And that couple that goes around killing everyone... I just don't get there motivation... loosing a kid (i think thats what happened) doesn't make you evil, it makes you want revenge, but not to go around like psychopaths killing people without a second thought. They cannot pull off what Sylar did so well as an antagonist. Also they appeared to spend a couple days stuck in that room, didn't they get hungry or thirsty or need to pee during that time?

Why would Noah go so long not replacing his glasses? Obviously he needs them.

Who goes to an underground casino in broad daylight, dressed like that?

Also I hate how they have taken the easy plot line: Humans hating evos, its unoriginal, we've seen it before in X-men.

Its the small mannerisms that have been overlooked combined with awkward actions that make no sense. that ruined it for me. A couple things are okay, but everything combined makes for bad writing. You know like when someone has a suitcase or coffee cup and its obviously empty (looking at you grey's anatomy) its things like that that ruin a show, well done Heroes you did that. Please fire your directors and scriptwriters and get someone that knows how to make a show look at least decent.

I'm going to give it one more chance, but as much as I loved Heroes life is too short for bad TV.

You guys are misleading and pushing out new viewers because you didn't get what you want
curvetsniper4 October 2015
If you really are a Heroes fan, well what happened now? Go follow up and watch this series, and the more it gets deeper, the interesting it goes. You just watched the beginning and it turned you like a scumbag. That's the reason it's called "REBORN" and rating it low just because you're not getting what you want. Of course they will make new stories, and if they did repeat the last season, what will you guys say? Re- engineered crap? I am gladly to see the few characters in the show, well I might be wrong, but still I'd be happy to watch this series. There are brand new stories to hear and unexpected twists waiting to happen. Give them a chance and don't rate it low too early. You're pushing out new viewers

Good Start .. promisingly good script with new "Heroes" with new powers .. still "fast-forwarding" in so many scenes but lets see how things will go on the new "mini series"
Aktham_Tashtush25 September 2015
So yep .. i kinda got a bit emotional just when i heard the theme music of Heroes ... new multi stories are again to be connected with new characters and as much as i wanted to see the old characters back .. well i kinda feel this way the idea of Heroes originals would be untouchable.

Of course the story when the Heroes were few and new was more thrilling but also now it look more promising and has so much potentials into developing into so many ways .. still there are some unrecognizable new concepts but so was the start of the original story.

Some reviewing websites mentioned that "This is the best Heroes has been since its first season!" well let's be fair .. it is not .. but i'd strongly say it is the best heroes since the third season since the 4th well wasn't that much of a series as it was a quick wrap up..

So back to our story here ... the plot look tight a solid .. the script is so much a like with the Original heroes .. and the stories "for me as an original 2006 series watcher" look organized and have a great potentials to develop to the way we expect.

Tim Kring is really now A Pro in the Sci-Fi Mystery Dramas , as after heroes i'v watched "Touch" and last spring's "Dig" and both were WOWzers so now with the new version of Heroes i'm relaxed that it is back with Kring himself but the script just get out of that low level it went off on Heroes Season 4 ;) It seems like not so many ties to it but the rhythm is still mild.

It is a "TV mini-series" so no one really knows where things will go after "if there is an After" it is just a way of showing a new generation what Heroes was 10 years ago..

It also sees in the end of the second episode that some of the old characters will have a minor present in the episode like Hiro Nakamura and Matt ... but it is kinda clear that the one to save the world this time is "Tommy" who if you're one of "Once upon a Time" watcher you know that he did an amazing job acting as Peter Pan.

Overall .. the script is promisingly good ,, the characters looked engaging .. and the music theme and soundtracks are still catchy .. so way to go Reborn and fingers crossed for things well.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing...
HallBox9725 January 2016
I was a MASSIVE fan of Heroes throughout its original run. I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 seasons and was still watching it religiously after 90% of people had jumped ship by the end of Season 4. I picked up & read every little bit of information that would add to the lore & immersion of the Heroes universe & just simply loved the whole concept. So when Reborn was announced I was overwhelmed with excitement, but at the same time I was very, very cautious as to how and if they were going to be able pull it off, as historically reboots are often complete flops. Knowing that Noah (played by the excellent Jack Coleman) was returning gave me at least some peace of mind as he was the anchor of the whole show, but I still went in to the premiere will extremely low expectations. That being said, even with these low expectations, I've come away after 13 episodes feeling HUGELY disappointed, and absolutely LIVID with the finale.

The show failed in pretty much every category it could fail in. The writing was awful. The actors were poorly directed. The script was shocking. The pacing was ludicrous. The CGI was absolutely cringeworthy. The character arcs were laughable & character development in itself was virtually non-existent - which resulted in literally no reason to passionately care about any single person unless they were a well developed character from the original series. Every now & then there were glimmers of what made the original series so great, and the June 13th two-parter was simply superb. But on the whole, if Reborn was a standalone series & it didn't rely so heavily on people clinging to nostalgic memories of the original, then I don't think it would've managed to retain even a fraction of the viewership that it ended up holding on to.

As much as I absolutely adore the Heroes Universe and the original characters, Reborn has to be the worst high-budget network show I have watched in my life. It is an insult to the original & Tim Kring should frankly feel ashamed of himself.

If you're a fan of the original like me then for the love of Sylar stay away from Reborn. It will do nothing but taint your fond memories of the original series.

Nostalgia effect and nifty gimmicks aside, Reborn lacks charismatic characters and fascinating sci-fi flair to stand above its current peers, let alone the original's best
quincytheodore25 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Regardless of how the series ended, the first season of Heroes was amazing. It's a fascinating watch, capturing the imagination of sci-fi fans and casual viewers alike. Heroes Reborn produces similar effect, there's a brief touch of what once a great series and it plays the superheroes angle just right. However, as much as I want it to be a repeat of glory days, there are a few hindrances that significantly hamper the presentation, be it from technical production or writing.

The first anomaly starts with one of the main plots, involving Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni. The two are vigilantes in path of vengeance, they hunt people with powers, casually named Evos. Joanne character is a mess, literally. She's one dimensional on her pursuit, yet almost instantly falters in first sight of problems.

She also seems to lack moral, merely minutes after her moaning scene she immediately opens fire onto some IT guys. Granted, she's in confusing situation, but these people are not evil masterminds, they are just ordinary humans, unarmed and already surrendered. It's not a good way for audience to sympathize with their cause.

The Japanese girl's part is also low on presentation. Back when Hiro popped up in Times Square, it's nothing short of a blast. Now the young girl must content with terrible video game graphic for her so called power. The shift to this virtual world is jarring, and audience won't be fooled by the fake attempt of fan pleasing. Not to mention this makes her story detached from the rest, and it would've been better if they made a comic style of visual for her rather than cheap 3D.

Tommy (Robbie Kay) has the plot of average superhero origin. This doesn't mean his story is bad. There's a similarity to old Spider-Man here and there, although it can also appear outdated at times. The bullying and affinity to the sweet girl are predictable, although the actor is likable enough to create the innocent personality.

Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) as the mainstay from original is better than the rest, he understandably carries a lot of expectation. Most of the mystery or investigation aspect comes from his perspective, and although it's bordering on conspiracy, it works with nostalgia and occasional puzzle.

Heroes Reborn presents many perspectives, it also tries to produce social tension between evos and humans, which is definitely commendable, but there are many aspects that feel outdated. Realistically, it opens up against DC Three (Gotham, Arrow and Flash) and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. While they're not entirely better, but each of them has more recent established fan base and at least an edge on either mystery or visual cinematography.

I'd love to be captivated like nearly a decade ago, and to its credit Heroes Reborn is a decent series, but it's lacking charismatic larger-than-life characters, mysterious twists and the fascinating sci-fi fantasy flair to stand out from the shadow of its predecessor, or even stand above its current peers.

Must be a pony in here somewhere
A_Different_Drummer26 September 2015
Reviewers Notes: 1. The original Heroes was one of the best written best directed and best produced shows in TV history. Its only crime was to appear as a wide-net network show just as the TV landscape was splintering into a zillion pieces. The exec who decided to deep-six the show should have lost his parking spot in the VIP zone, at the very least. While the entire series was iconic and wonderfully new (SAVE THE CHEERLEADER SAVE THE WORLD) the last season with the carnival locale presented one of the most memorable stories I have ever seen with brilliant acting and writing.

2. So that's a tough act to follow. Going into REBORN I was wondering if this was a sincere effort (as in, we goofed and we are going to fix it) or merely an exploitation of the remnant audience for fast ad profits in a new TV landscape where highly specialized shows, produced for cheap, can show a nice bottom line if pitched to a segmented but identifiable audience...?

3. Based on the 2-hour opener, looks like they are taking the low road. The show seemed to have cheap production values, some of the special effects were terrible, the dialog was far below the original series, and the electricity seemed gone.

4. Reminds this reviewer of the old joke about the test of an optimist - a young boy is taken to a locked room and finds it filled to the ceiling with horse manure. He is seized with joy and starts to dig. When the tester asks "why" he replies, with this much horse poop, there must be a pony in here somewhere!

5. We eagerly await the pony. But confidence is not high.

People really need to see cool series on air. 😄 I do not get it why the rating has to be so high to keep airing. Scare us big time just the possibility that they might shut it down again. I hope it doesn't happen. My better wishes for the cast and the production.🍀😃🎉👍🏻👋🏻

Let the heroes fight please!
gecgin25 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I am a fan of heroes of the first version. And it was exiting for me to wait for this 'reborn' but it was not fun to watch. It does not really drag you to the story nor to the characters.

Mystery is good up to some level, beyond that, I believe it will be nonsense. Which happened here, many characters are introduced without a good background, hard to track what is actually going on. In the end you may want to say "Whatever!".

Secondly some scenes has to be explained otherwise you will think writer is massing with your logic. I can believe that somebody is flying because it has some special power but I cant understand how two normal person come and kill bunch of heroes which have some special powers. One of them has flash power, can move fast but his speed only works to be shoot by a bullet and die faster? The other hero was about to send a fireball, but it took so long that that one of the normal person found a fire distinguisher and stopped him. Really? Why not fire with the gun? To make of fun of heroes' powers? Whatever the reason is it is does not make sense. Another scene, Benet, the guy used to have glass. I don't remember why the glass is that important. How can somebody forgot he needs glass? Maybe somebody erased his brain but did they also erase his mind? You may forget your name but you cant forget that you need glass. Your eyes will scream every second "I cant see it right!". How about the meeting with the mind blowing guy(!). Benet finds a card and visit a glass shop. The secretary or the girl in the main desk tries to kill Benet, but his old friend stop her and ask him to meet somewhere. Benet goes that place but guess what? The old friend only came to bring his glass and to kill him. If you were about to kill why did not you let the girl do it? What is it with the glass, why a person gives a glass to person that he is about to kill? How can a person get rid of from such a deadly approach and kills the person in his back? If you were to vote who will be the killer, the black guy or the white guy, I believe you would favor on the black one. Because he looks stronger and he is coming from back with a deadly rope. We can mention many more such scenes which are hard to explain. Anyway, in the end you will say " Nah, I don't buy it".

The last but may be the most bothering is "the concept of heroes". Why heroes are not happy that they have special powers? To have a regular life? I don't understand this. Why always heroes are hunted by humans? Why the humankind is hunting them instead of benefiting them. For me the audience wants the heroes show their abilities, do some fun stuff. This a natural request I guess, that is what heroes are for, right? But because of this hunt cliché, in these heroes movies and TV series heroes suppress their powers. This is very disappointing.

I guess my expectation for "free heroes which show their powers" has to wait again for another TV series. Let the heroes fight whether bad heroes vs good heroes, or good heroes vs evils from outside world. That will be more fun than this drama, mystery mix type thing whatever you want to call..

Can't wait for the next episode
mzeepat1 November 2015
Liking this show. Started slow and a bit disjointed it now has me hooked and waiting impatiently for the next episode. (episode 8) I don't get the very bad ratings, yeah the acting for some of the characters is average at best but the stalwarts carry it well enough. Would love to know what the deal is with the drunk guy as he is the worst of the lot. He wasn't much better in the dance movies he did... let's see how his story develops as it doesn't seem part of the main storyline. The other minor irritation I had was the murder spree the couple went on after their son died. It makes no sense at all and could really have been done better.

Surprisingly good
gridoon202428 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I went into "Heroes Reborn" expecting a belated cash grab, but what I found was arguably the second best season of the "Heroes" universe as a whole, after season 1 (I also like the first half of season 3). It starts out intriguingly, takes off in the standout 7th and 8th episodes (in which an old favorite returns in a key part), and ends more strongly than any season since the first. It's tightly constructed, with some well-disguised major twists & revelations which are worthy of "Doctor Who" at his best! The special effects are spectacular for TV, and the new characters are generally engaging. The show is notably more female-centric than its "parent"; there are more women, they play more important, stronger (in both senses of the word) roles, and quite a few of them are stunning, to boot (my favorite: Nazneen Contractor - what a woman). The series is self-contained but leaves you wanting more, and I for one would like to see more. *** out of 4.

We need a reboot reboot
seanrforeman13 November 2015
Lets face it, this reboot is awful. An x-men ripoff done poorly. The digital realm just doesn't even make any sense.

The first season of Heroes was great because of the pacing and realism. Yes, these were people with super powers, but they felt like real people dealing with these problems. The end of the first season fell a little flat. I expected a lot more in the climactic sequence with Sylar, but at least I enjoyed the ride.

At this point with the reboot, I have a hard time sitting through another boring and ridiculous episode.

We don't need an earth level crisis. we need a story of people with super powers working against others with similar powers. And to not be afraid of sticking with characters, even when they become over powered.

Surprisingly good, despite all the whining by critics
RodMartinJr18 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Tim Kring pulled off a minor miracle, reviving the Heroes franchise after it sank so far during its first four seasons. In those seasons, there were elements of each that I really liked, but the overall story quality seemed to become more disconnected and surreal. Heroes truly has been reborn.

I have to agree with some of the criticism of others, but I feel they have blown minor details so far out of proportion, those critics cannot be trusted. I mean, really! So what if a drunk drinks a lot? It's internally consistent with the character. So what if it seems like a cliché to you? Much of life can seem that way, if you have a fast-food, MTV mentality that immediately compares it with every other piece of entertainment you've ever seen. Sometimes, you have to enjoy the piece right in front of you for what it is.

Kring and the Heroes crew have revived a universe of mystery and wonder. These people--these "evos"--do things that no human body could physically do, like the miracles of old. It gives us hope. They call them "evolved ones" or "evos," but there is something wonderfully spiritual about this.

We have new characters, new abilities, new mysteries and new challenges.

I call it a "minor miracle," because the hot potential Kring originally created, was always there, heavily squandered in seasons 3 and 4. Here, I like what they've done. I'm enjoying these new friends and enemies.

I especially like how they portray the enemy as unknowingly selfish and arrogant, but who also accuse others of being selfish for wanting to save their own lives. There is so much of that going on in the American government these days, as it did in Nazi Germany nearly a century ago. The parallels are chilling. Yet, the promise of the heroes is gratifying.

I would've rated it even higher, but minor flaws are still flaws. Like the gun shots fired at Primatech, the elevator which "dings," and Noah B. heads down instead of staying up top to protect his car, the data and his sidekick. That was dumb (writer's flaw). Noah's training should've kicked in to keep him topside, instead of chasing his original curiosity about Level 5. Still, this is large and addictive entertainment, teasing us a little with each episode, revealing just enough to keep us hooked and chomping to get more.

Spoiler: The fact that Earth's magnetic field goes to zero and leaves the planet vulnerable to a violent, civilization-ending solar storm, is a wonderfully solid scenario -- far better than the "2012" film's neutrino absorption nonsense. It reminds me of the wonderfully upside-down deliciousness perpetrated by the UN, NASA, governments and the Corporate mainstream media -- turning science into a popularity circus ("consensus") and stifling debate with cute catch phrases like "settled science" and "deniers," all the while distracting people from the real horror story that Global Cooling is bad and Global Warming is good. Why? Because we're in an Ice Age. When the Holocene ends, 7+ Billion people will be in jeopardy, just as they are in this mini-series. Art mimicking reality, despite all the propaganda to keep us from seeing that reality. Nice when entertainment can wake some people up, instead of making them brain dead.

Was good for a middle of the week mind wind down
flaminbg12 October 2015
Let me start by saying that just about everything that can be written/filmed, has been read and watched this day in age. I really enjoyed the previous Heroes. I have watched all episodes so far and they are OK for the mid week entertainment when there is nothing else to do and as a stay at home Mom that is pretty often :) If you go into this comparing it to the original, You will be sadly disappointed, and I think that is unfair to the writers of this script.. This is a new story but with some old characters. Which personally were my favorites in the original Heroes. If you liked Fear the walking dead and other spin off series then go for it. If you are hoping this will blow your mind then look else where for something really new, Drop me a line when you find it :D

So many clichés it makes you wanna throw up
n-m-bertin3 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A cheap knock-off, it's just as bad as the last seasons of Heroes, with worse special effects and worse actors... Dunno how they did it, but they did... Between Levi totally horrible as the "villain", the kid bullied in school again and who likes the cute girl, the X-Men plot where the guys with powers have to hide from the government, it's nothing new and begs the question "what's the point of all this ?".

The directing and writing are terrible too : the paper falling from the book with the crucial info on it, the agent who needs a freaking paper to remember the password "cockroach", the "I'll wait until my friend enters before dying right at that moment so it adds drama"... It's mistake after mistake, and it's still awfully slow, like the original series.
