Natalya Dabizha's "Vanya i krokodil" is based on a poem by Korney Chukovsky, commonly seen as the Soviet Union's very own Dr. Seuss. The poem depicts Chukovsky telling his son a story of a crocodile who scares St. Petersburg (then called Petrograd).
I liked the stop-motion animation. I don't know whether or not the crocodile's look was modeled on Crocodile Gena, but I thought that he looked like Charlie Chaplin as the Little Tramp.
I'm probably the only one who noticed that. It's an OK cartoon. Oleg Tabakov's voice work isn't the best that I've ever heard, but it passes muster. An enjoyable cartoon.
