Good start

Warning: Spoilers
Episodes picks with the stand off between Grace and inspector Campbell. I think writers might have screwed up that ending in the last season and had a hard time coming up with a solution here. They decided Grace shoots Campbell in the leg? Grace had to raise her purse and shoots him while he already had a gun pointed at her for God's sake. It didn't make that much sense to me but it's the best situation as both characters came out alive. This episode starts with the funeral of Frank, an established character from the last season and there's no even explanation as to what happens to him. Grumbling aside, this episode is solid. It foreshadows what's coming and also introduced fresh dynamics amongst the characters. The production value is still top-notch and is the acting.

I must say... I wasn't as into this episode as I was for the first season.

Warning: Spoilers
I must say... I wasn't as into this episode as I was for the first season. And I understand that the first season of a show sometimes has the upper hand, especially when it comes to introducing the worlds and characters. So, obviously I'm going to give this season a chance, I just hope it picked up more. Naturally, the characters are the same, but they've evolved a bit. It was interesting to see Tommy be in a spot of weakness, especially at the end of this episode. Arthur is still endearing, and Finn's.... Gotten older... (And has a funny haircut...). John is probably my second-favorite character in the show, so it's great to see him in the show more and get more screentime. Ada may be an interesting character to continue developing, but she wasn't in this episode much. I'm... Not sad that Freddie is dead... I wasn't the biggest fan of his character in the first season, but I wouldn't say I wanted him dead. (I honestly feel like everyone else felt that way, considering the mood at his funeral...). Polly was very good in this episode, and now I'm very curious if they will find her children. That's probably the plot thread I'm most invested in. I actually like Esme's character, for the little screen-time she got, and wouldn't mind if she got more development. Campbell coming back... Makes sense, but I hope some major development happens here. Deep down, I kinda hope Grace returns. Overall, I'm not super invested in where the show is going, more the characters, but maybe the plot will get interesting.

The opening twist to this episode is epic

Warning: Spoilers
So at this time period, the British government offered a peace treaty to the IRA (Irish Republic army) but they split in 2 because some didn't want to take it. The two people that met with Tommy represent the pro-treaty part of the IRA. The blacksmith that he kills, was an anti-treaty IRA. I do like how Johnny Cash was playing during the assassination. I done the math 150 pounds is the equivalent of modern usd comes to 3 thousand dollars, so john Shelby was saying their back ally gambling ring is earning 84 thousand us dollars a month. I love how they completely changed the expected story line. This show is much more violent than I usually watch but I was completely hooked by it.

The Shelby family is back with the same style and energy

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this show after the promo for season 2 came out and Tom Hardy being the main reason. I was unaware of the fact in the beginning that he wasn't appearing till the second season, but after watching the show I would say the experience was everything but disappointment, a pure delight. Set in 1920 this Birmingham gangster drama is brilliant in every way. Be it the writing, acting, direction, production or the soundtrack- things are delivered at its best.

I am excited with the second season now on. A few minutes into the first episode we get the answer for the season 1 cliffhanger where Campbell points a gun on grace and we hear a gunshot with the blank screen. Tommy also pointed out in the end that The Shelby brothers limited is the third biggest racetrack in the country after the Sabinis and the Solomons so we know who we are dealing with in this season.

Tommy wants to branch out in London and team up with the London Jews Solomons to take on the Italians. With the action switching from Birmingham to London, we see Shelby brothers going to a nightclub and smashing some London gangsters. Tommy surely pays the price for it as we see in the end he gets viciously beaten by the Sabini. Tom Hardy, playing Alfie Solomons, hasn't made an appearance yet but I am eagerly waiting to see the Scarecrow and Bane meet on the small screen.

The first season of Peaky Blinders was perfect and second is more the same with great performances, strong writing and brilliant visual style. I am now a fan of this series and waiting for more in this season and like they said in the first episode "London is just trouble and smoke"

Unbelievable acting and writing.

Steven Knight is a genius. This show is amazing. I love period pieces. I've been to Birmingham UK many times for work. This history of this series is superb. The character development is outstanding. The only terrible part is the short seasons and Mr. Knight chose to end the series with full feature film(s).

Cillian Murphy is one of the most underrated screen actors I've had the pleasure of seeing on tv.

I'm binge watching the series for the first time. Give it a try if you haven't. Absolutely bloody brilliant.

She missed?!

The first part felt like an afterthought of "oh no, we left a cliffhanger" which was not what I was expecting. The rest did a good job of setting up the seasons strife and further developing characters.

The Peaky Blinders are back with a bang
tr912 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Peaky Blinders was one of my most highly anticipated new series returning to our screens this year. The 1st series ended with such a cliffhanger so I was very pleased when it got renewed for a 2nd series. From the adverts shown on TV, I did originally fear that the cliffhanger would never fully be resolved/explained but thankfully it was, partially for now anyway.

The 2nd series is now two years on and there's plenty more interesting story lines already developing. This was probably one of the most gruesome episodes so far and I can certainly see more of that coming throughout the new series. Most of the main cast have returned and there's also a few new faces (eagerly awaiting Tom Hardy's character to arrive).

The acting is excellent as always. The set just looks absolutely amazing, this show really does have high production levels and everything to me feels very authentic.

All in all it was a great episode and I can't wait to see how it all develops. There's plenty more to happen, there's plenty more cliffhangers and there's plenty more left to be explained. I can't wait for next week's episode.
