The autographed framed portrait seen on the wall in Richard's room as he tries to figure out his business plan is a picture of David Huffman, an engineer who invented a data compression scheme known as Huffman encoding. Huffman code is fundamental to modern computer science and data communications.
On the wall next to his desk Richard has the famous image of "Lenna" (a woman in a hat) that has been used as an image processing test image since the early 1970's.
