Outstanding Documentary - Whole Foods Plant-Based
donaldfries-304991 February 2016
This film is a wonderful testament to the power of a whole foods plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle to prevent or turn around the ravaging health effects of the standard American diet (SAD) centered around meat and dairy consumption. People across the globe are becoming aware of the impeccable science that Dr. T. Colin Campbell and many others have set forth to guide us as we make our future nutritional choices.

As with the tobacco debate twenty years ago, Nelson Campbell demonstrates in this film that there are powerful political and financial interests vested in keeping the status quo of ever more sick and debilitated citizens.

Of course, the transition to a WFPB lifestyle will require seismic shifts in our world's economy – but all to the betterment of human, planetary and animal health.

As they say, "The truth is a stubborn thing – it does not go away".

A Must See Film!
ambergamber12 January 2016
As a licensed Dietitian, I approve of this film 100%! It is a must see for every American. The power of food to heal the body, reverse and prevent disease is underestimated. Please watch this and consider changes you can make to move toward a healthier you! I had the privilege of viewing this film prior to its release and then again a few more times! I want to share it with everyone I know, including my fellow colleagues in health care. It is inspiring to know there are others out there who know and preach the truth about food and nutrition. The standard American diet must go! I am encouraged by the plant based movement happening around the nation because of this film, don't miss out!

An excellent film showcasing the benefits of a plant-based diet
ericcharleslindstrom19 November 2015
I was lucky enough to see this film before its official release and a few times since! As compelling and convincing an argument for a plant-based diet that has even been filmed. Taking many of the same ideas seen in Forks Over Knives (also featuring Dr. T. Colin Campbell), PlantPure Nation explores more personal journeys of Dr. Campbell and his family as well as numerous individuals exploring the PPN Jumpstart Program. Along the path to better health, the documentary proves the healthiest diet for humankind is whole- foods plant-based.

Must see for anyone who struggles with chronic health issues, PlantPure Nation will stand the test of time as the nation, and world, begins to acknowledge that the Standard American Diet is simply not sustainable.

Political fight for truth!
FL-o24 May 2020
Plant Pure Nation is a very interesting plant-based factual documentary, focused on a political fight to highlight the truth about our western diet. Focusing primarily on health and politics, while partially avoiding other dimensions (e.g., emotional relation to food, environment, animal welfare), this documentary is worth watching to understand further the different forces around the necessary debate surrounding diets.

An inspiring call to awaken
karunaveg19 February 2018
This film does an excellent job showing both the entrenched corruption in our public institutions that promote animal agriculture, as well as the positive force of caring and perseverance to help shed light and bring healing to people. This is the story of what happens when people bring the power of truth (Gandhi's Satyagraha) to homes, churches, and legislative assemblies. In spite of enormous resistance, positive change is possible. Highly recommended for everyone.

Science combined with emotion makes a good documentary
georgejacobs19 February 2018
PlantPure Nation combines scientific information from authors of peer-reviewed publications and NY Times bestsellers, Prof T Colin Campbell and Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, with heart-warming stories from the Campbell family at the centre of the film.

More emotion flows as the Campbells, Dr Esselstyn, and their allies in Kentucky seek to get legislation through the state's legislature, and then turn their attention to a research based, community driven initiative to persuade people to move towards a tasty, whole food, plant based diet.

I can't wait for the sequel!

Rest in peace, China Study
eric-692-9113498 March 2016
Colin Campbell's work has been thoroughly discredited, here's a summary from almost 6 years ago: (Chris Kresser: "Rest in peace, China Study") BUT they're still pushing this nonsense.

The opening sequence Demonizes Paleo and low Carb diets with nothing to support it, they're just preaching to vegan choir who is already anti animal food for whatever vague religious reasons, not for health. Going vegan is not the only alternative to SAD. I don't think strict Paleo or VLC are the best alternatives either, but unfortunately many people seem to think that the only way to fix a problem is by going to one extreme or another, the idea of balance incomprehensible for them I guess.

And they show the mother who was sick and obese on SAD and blame that on any food that came from an animal when the real reason was refined seed oils, refined sugar, and refined flour with iron enrichment. It's well documented that iron over load causes every metabolic disorder that are epidemic in today's society: obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.

If you don't want to eat animals based on your vague, made up religious ideas then go ahead, just don't try to force your agenda on the rest of us with FAKE SCIENCE. This is just disgraceful, you people should be ashamed of yourselves.

This documentary starts out slowly but keep watching. Nelson Cambell will take you on a journey you will not soon forget! The ending will blow you away. My husband and I liked it so much that we bought a copy to share with friends.

Must See Documentary
dayhealthchallenge19 February 2018
If you care about your health or the health of our planet, this is a must see documentary. It reveals the politics behind the powerful meat and dairy industries. The simple truth is that we would ALL be much better off without meat or dairy products. Have you ever stopped to think that the people advertising the importance of protein in our diet happen to be the same people that sell protein? We get all the protein we need from the same place that cows and fish get protein. The plants. It's hard to conceal the truth forever. Watch this documentary, it's very well done.

Setting up a strawman is not good science
random-707781 November 2019
Medical experts have known that higher proportion of fruits, vegetables and fish, and less meat and dairy, less grains is more healthy since the ancient Greeks. There are literally treatises from 2,600 years ago saying this.

But this film is pseudo-science because it: a) implies that any meat or dairy is bad for you when in fact ALL the peer reviewed studies show moderate amounts have NO negative health effect. And that people who eat small to moderate amounts of meat (as part of three our four meals out of 21) are HEALTHIER than VEGANS. In fact we now know that corn fed vs grass fed is the issue. Grass fed and high omega eggs result in lower bad cholesterol and higher good cholesterol levels than total vegan diets

Same with dairy. Women who get moderate amounts of dairy are less likely to develop osteoporosis when all other factors (starting bone density, exercise levels, several genetic factors known to influence bone density) are controlled for.

b) it is GRAIN consumption that is virtually always bad. Even regular whole grain consumption increases rates of tooth decay, diabetes rates and colon cancer. Brown rice and whole flour raise rates of those pathology's a bit less than the elevated rates in white flour and white rice, but 90% of the harm is still present in those grains. If you are going to consume carbohydrates, in fact certain vegetable oils, and potatoes without junk in them are much much better for you than grains

c) The makers of this film leave out the fact that high omega fish consumption 3-5 times is much healthier than strict vegan no fish diets.

All evidence is that MODERATION in consumption of everything is the key. having some pate once a month, or a lamb-burger twice a week along with chicken twice a week is better than any obsessive diet.

Great effort to spread education about nutrition
notareinera8 May 2024
Plantpure Nation is a program developed by Campbell's son, the father wrote the famous China nutrition study and now I have to read it for sure. Several other authors feature Michel Greger and David Robinson Simon. The program established itself by introducing the plant based diet to a small place with tons of meat eaters called Mebane.

This film goes over the process of getting support and laws for healthier eating. It shows false advertising and the lack of knowledge of pharmacologists, the lack of education they get over nutrition and how they don't get much time to do anything, but prescribe a tablet. There is an abundance of advertisements who play down the roles of exercise and adequate diet.

The editing at the start of the film is kinda weird, I watched the official upload on youtube, but the quality is not the best and just like the H. O. P. E. documentary this should appeal to an aged population the best. Unlike that documentary this doesn't go as much on the basics of veganism, it just goes over the health and specifically the effort to better the health of the American population.

I knew nothing about Plantpure Nation, but it seems like a very fun way to bring people to try out plant based meals. This wasn't only for fun and they tracked down the dropped cholesterol levels via blood tests which in all cases dropped significantly only in 10 days. This is a very convincing method and the efforts of this project have considerably increased since this movie's release. It is so cool how they filmed all their process and then could make a movie out of it.

It was fun seeing Kentucky politicians panic over the plant based diet being mentioned in their parlament. This is utmost motivating and all the accounts regular people gave as to how the plant based diet improved their lives was pleasant to hear. It was pleasant to hear them as well as to be so passionate and baffled about the effort of nutritionists, societies in general refuse to hear them.

This documentary also mentions local vegetable farms and particularly how in America from 7 million they went down to 2 million. Fast food and meat became so accessible in America that people found it hard there to find the healthy options in certain places which is baffling.

I am interested in their other program they mention at the end and I hope it has a movie.

Yet another vegan propaganda
maedwa-7333115 July 2017
This is yet another vegan, anti "eat-meat" propaganda, conspiracy movie. "A 10-day vegan challenge" that is supposed to be a scientific prove of something. Of course the participants felt better, but not because of the vegan diet, but because of the lower calorie intake. No need to starve or do some snake oil diets, just cut your calorie intake by 50%, eliminate all sugar and high carb, high glycemic foods (rice, etc), go like this for 3 days ... and experience a miracle. This is all it is.
