ArtPlay and 505 Games have announced the final update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will arrive on PC via Steam and Gog, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 9, while Switch users will be getting it on May 16. Version 1.5 will add two new game modes “Chaos Mode” and “Versus Mode” (which were hinted at last year) and one free cosmetic pack. There will also be three premium Dlc cosmetic packs launching alongside the update.
Both new modes add local and online co-op play to Bloodstained, allowing players to team up with a friend or be matched with other players on the same system. Sadly, no cross-platform play will be included.
Chaos Mode adds a survival mode where players must fight through a series of randomized rooms to defeat demons and bosses. Completing challenges before each boss will grant players powerful upgrades.

In March 2020, during the first days of the Covid pandemic, IndieWire launched an Instagram Live series. The idea was to hold a causal conversation with talent about their creative process and how they spend their free time, a discussion that took on a very different meaning against the uncertain backdrop of the lockdown. IndieWire instinctively turned to Ethan Hawke to launch the series and set the tone; and at a time when most creatives understandably went dark, Hawke was hungry for the conversation.
Later that summer, the actor-writer-director gave a Ted-Ed talk, “Give yourself permission to be creative.” Even if you haven’t watched the nine-minute talk, you’ve seen it: Excerpts, four years later, still flood most social media feeds on a daily basis.
In the most viral clip, Hawke, discussing what happens to people when they suffer a great loss, said, “Did anyone feel like this before? What is happening to me?...

Marvel’s Avengers can be described as many things, but a successful game is not one of them, and the live service structure that Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics went with is one of the culprits. Failing to achieve the same success as the live-action films from the MCU, the game had the potential to improve where the films lacked, but it turned out to be a major disappointment.
Marvel’s Avengers Could Have Utilized Ultron Better Than the MCU
James Spader made his first and last appearance as Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a version of the character was teased in Marvel’s Avengers.
The game was originally conceived with the idea of constant updates and content support from developers and an overarching story meant to span multiple seasons. Ultron was meant to appear as a villain, and actor Jim Meskimen had already recorded dialogue before the untimely cancellation.

The votes are in: Atmospheric (and claustrophobic) Finnish mystery thriller “Icebreaker,” already one of the most buzzed of projects hitting the competition, has been crowned the winner of the 8th edition of MipDrama, receiving its Coup de Coeur award.
Sold by About Premium Content, created by Mia Ylönen, who exec produces with Aleksi Bardy, the Elisa Viihde-commissioned show “Icebreaker” is set on a stranded boat.
As its crew members start to disappear, one by one, coastguard Sanna Tanner (Jessica Grabowsky) is trying to find answers – but what she is dealing with goes way beyond rational explanations.
“We wanted to build up slowly, like a classic whodunnit, but you get a sense there is something else going on. Something is lurking on this ship, but we don’t know whether it’s human or not,” creator Mia Ylönen previously told Variety. The show is produced by Helsinki-filmi, an independent subsidiary of Aurora Studios.

Neon Intl. has added to its growing EFM slate with Jason Buxton’s “Sharp Corner,” starring Ben Foster and Cobie Smulders. The company, launched last year as the sales arm of Neon, will launch the project in Berlin.
The under-the-radar feature, now in post-production, is based on the short story from Russell Wangersky’s Giller Prize-shortlisted collection “Whirl Away,” and marks Buxton’s follow up to his debut film, 2012’s ”Blackbird,” which won the best first feature in Toronto and picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes Écrans Juniors.
“Sharp Corner” follows a dedicated family man who becomes obsessed with saving the lives of the car accident victims on the sharp corner in front of his house — an obsession that could cost him everything.
The film, a Canadian-Irish co-production, is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, the Canada Media Fund, Screen Nova Scotia, Ontario Creates and in association with Bell Media/Crave.

“Maudie” director Aisling Walsh describes her upcoming feature, “Ethel,” in recognizable terms. “We all understand what it is to struggle to be the best at what we can,” Walsh tells Variety. “We’re all looking for that chance to make something happen.”
Written by Celeste Parr, produced by Marie-Claude Poulin (“Brooklyn”) of Sphere Media, and presented at this year’s Venice Production Bridge gap-financing market, “Ethel” tells the true story of Ethel Stark – a trailblazing Canadian musician who broke barriers when she founded a mixed-race, all-female orchestra in the 1940s. A violinist and conductor, Stark eventually brought her Montreal-based ensemble all the way to Carnegie Hall, becoming the first to woman to conduct there.
“Shtisel” and “Unorthodox” lead Shira Haas is attached to star – as revealed exclusively in Variety – with the Canadian-Irish co-production aiming to shoot next year.
“The film is about women finding their voice,” says Walsh. “The orchestra changed their lives.

Rebecca Romijn says she didn’t speak out about the misconduct allegations against her two former X-Men directors, Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, because others had already done so.
While speaking to The Independent about her career journey and why working on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is personally special, The Librarians actress opened up about the controversies around the original X-Men trilogy, which was distributed by 20th Century Fox, with the first two installments directed by Singer and the third by Ratner.
While other members of the cast have spoken more explicitly about the chaotic and on-set behavior they witnessed, in addition to addressing their feelings on the allegations of sexual misconduct around Singer, Romijn has remained mostly silent. According to her, it’s because she didn’t feel like she needed “to say anything else.”
“Yeah, I kind of just… I didn’t feel like I needed to say anything.

New Delhi, June 16 (Ians) It was 30 years ago that Adobe co-founder Dr John Warnock and his team invented the Portable Document Format (Pdf) and Adobe Acrobat that allowed sharing of text and images digitally while preserving the original formatting of a document.
With this, they solved a fundamental problem of communicating visual material between people, computer applications and systems.
“In days of proprietary software and formats, the Pdf specification was made public on day one for anyone to create, consume and process PDFs,” said Abhigyan Modi, SVP of Adobe Document Cloud.
The technology in Acrobat to create PDFs was based on print pipeline that allowed any application at that time to create PDFs.
In 2008, Adobe open-sourced Pdf to the world, accelerating the paper-to-digital revolution and fundamentally changing “how we work across both our professional and personal lives”.

Fans of The Last of Us know that music is a key part of the video games’ story. The Last of Us Part II shows us how Joel and Ellie use music as a way to connect with and understand each other and even allows the player to strum along via the controller when both characters play guitar. At the beginning of the game, Joel sings Pearl Jam’s “Future Days” to Ellie, and it becomes a song that she uses to remember him later on. Ellie also sings A-ha’s “Take on Me” to her friend and love interest Dina when the two are in Seattle together – a touching moment amidst all the violence in the game.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power sets out its sprawling epic fantasy credentials right from the off: even its title seems like it could be split into multiple instalments. Laden with a name as unwieldy as an orc’s battleaxe, the Prime Video series also arrives under a staggering weight of expectation. In 2017, when Amazon paid author Jrr Tolkien’s estate 250m (£211m) not for the rights to remake Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit but merely to set a story within the author’s fantastical world of Middle-earth, financial observers described the deal as “insane”. Jeff Bezos’ omnipotent empire has reportedly spent a further 462m on this first season, which averages out at nearly 60m an episode. By comparison HBO’s Game of Thrones, the blockbuster fantasy hit whose runaway success Amazon evidently hope to emulate, cost a relatively reasonable 15m per episode. For what Amazon’s paying,...

Fantasy fans have barely had the chance to catch their breath after the "House of the Dragon" premiere took viewers back to Westeros for the first time in years. Now, a different world of magic is about to make a comeback, with "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." The new Prime Video series is set to debut September 2, 2022, and thanks to the specifics of the rights deal secured by Amazon Studios, it will pull not from J.R.R. Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings" books, but from lesser-known Middle-earth history texts, like the books' appendices.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has a lot riding on its success: the series reportedly has a budget of over 400 million for its first season, which would make it the most expensive TV show ever made. Those big numbers could translate to great storytelling and huge success, or,...

Shira Haas, the star of “Unorthodox” and “Shtisel,” is set to headline “Ethel,” a period musical drama about the true story of Ethel Stark, the groundbreaking conductor who founded the first all-female orchestra in Montreal.
Besides breaking barriers in the music world, Stark has also been credited for championing social change across gender, race, language and class starting in the 1940’s.
Aisling Walsh, the Irish-born helmer of “Maudie” and BAFTA-winning “Elizabeth Is Missing” will direct the film, based on an original screenplay by Celeste Parr (“Gurov and Anna”).
The female-powered project is part of growing slate of Sphere Films, the Montreal-based banner (formerly known as MK2/Mile End) which is now presided over by Charles Tremblay. Marie-Claude Poulin (“Brooklyn”) will be producing “Ethel” for Sphere Media. It will be distributed in Canada by Sphere Films.

Clearly enjoying the made-for-tv moment, the unlikely trio smiled throughout the performing, trailing off towards the end of cocktail anthem.
Welch then sat down for a conversation with Fallon about her new music. During her interview, Welch chatted about the ideas behind her Florence + the Machine identity — detailing her childhood interests and citing “Rogue from ‘X-Men,’ a Victorian ghost, and, like, mermaids.”
“Dance Fever,” out Friday (May 13), is Florence + the Machine’s first album release in four years.

When Florence + the Machine made their debut a little more than a decade ago, the U.K. music scene was awash in the retro-soul typified by Amy Winehouse and Adele. Florence Welch looked backward, too. But her influences were at once more ancient and more modern, marrying a goth melodrama that went back to the Brontës with a New Romantic exoticism that evoked Kate Bush, tied together by a secret-sharing intensity that’s always made Welch feel like an eternal wild child, a feminist warrior, and a sisterly confidante.

Florence Welch, the bewitching siren at the helm of Florence and the Machine, wrote her fifth album Dance Fever as an ode to what it felt like to share live music with people. It’s the type of pandemic-created album that was built for a moment like this: Welch and her band headlining an intimate show at New York’s Alice Tully Hall in front of a sea of fans dressed like the cast of Euphoria were headed to a Renaissance Faire.

Florence and the Machine will release a new LP, Dance Fever, on May 13 via Republic Records. The band has shared the album’s third single, “My Love,” along with an ornate music video directed by Autumn de Wilde and choreographed by Ryan Heffington.
Dance Fever — produced by Florence Welch, Jack Antonoff, and Dave Bayley of Glass Animals — was recorded in London over the course of the pandemic. The songs evoke what Welch “missed most during lockdown—clubs, dancing at festivals, being in the whirl of movement, and togetherness,” according to a release.

Paul Thomas Anderson grew up in the San Fernando Valley, which played an important role in his 1997 breakthrough film “Boogie Nights,” which looked at Valley’s porn industry during the ‘70s and 80s. In his new United Artists release “Licorice Pizza,” Anderson returns to the Sfv for a nostalgia-tinged comedy-of-age story set in 1973 starring Cooper Hoffman and Alana Haim. Both young performers received strong notices with the L.A. Times’ Justin Chang declaring Haim as the true star of “this boisterous, bighearted movie and its raison d’être.” And Bradley Cooper has earned positive notices for his funny turn as hairdresser turned film producer Jon Peters, who ironically was a producer on Cooper’s 2018 “A Star is Born.”

"You don't have the luxury to be frightened!" Magnet Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for a nun horror film titled Agnes, from filmmaker Mickey Reece. This initially premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, and also recently stopped by Fantastic Fest and the Sitges Film Festival this fall. Rumors of demonic possession at a religious convent prompts a church investigation into the strange goings-on among its nuns. A disaffected priest and his neophyte are confronted with temptation, bloodshed and a crisis of faith. That description sounds a lot like Paul Verhoeven's Benedetta (which I also highly recommend) - but this is something else entirely! Agnes stars Hayley McFarland as the titular nun "Agnes", with Molly C. Quinn, Sean Gunn, Chris Sullivan, Rachel True, Chris Browning, and Jake Horowitz. This looks rather cliche and obvious, especially following the exquisite Saint Maud. But it still might be worth a watch.

Sony Pictures Classics has landed rights to “The Phantom of the Open,” a heartwarming drama starring Mark Rylance, Sally Hawkins and Rhys Ifans.
Craig Roberts, known for his onscreen roles in “Submarine” and “Red Oaks,” directed the film. “Paddington 2” screenwriter Simon Farnaby adapted the screenplay from his book of the same name, which was co-authored by Scott Murray. The inspiring true story follows Maurice Flitcroft (Rylance), an unrelenting optimist who managed to gain entry to the British Open Gold Championship Qualifying in 1976 and subsequently shot the worst round in Open history, becoming a folk hero in the process.
“I’m extremely grateful that SPC share our love for Maurice and his wonderful story,” Roberts said. “They are the perfect fit for this project. I’m very proud of what our cast and crew have created. I hope that Maurice’s superpowers make the world a better place.”
