Sex & Nudity

  • The film contains several scenes depicting nudity in a non-sexual context. Nudity is shown in scenes where Jewish prisoners are forced to strip naked or dead bodies are removed from the gas chambers. However, all the nudity is mostly out of focus and almost nothing is distinctly shown (a corpse's breast is in focus in periphery of one scene).

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • F words in the English subtitles.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • At the beginning of the film there is a scene where the main character, Saul collects the coats and belongings of the victims sent into the gas chamber. In the background, screaming and banging on the chamber door can be heard. Knowing what is happening, this scene is quite hard to watch.
  • The film follows a man named Saul Auslander during the Holocaust while he attempts to seek out a Rabbi in one of his nearby concentration camps in an attempt to bury a boy. Just by this description alone it should be easy to tell this film isn't for the faint of heart. It contains a lot of disturbing, faithful to reality content that is not for the faint of heart.
  • The ending is incredibly depressing. The film's atmosphere is intense and bleak all throughout, not for the faint of heart similar to Idi i smotri (1985), but nowhere nearly as disturbing.
