Excellent season finale

This review contains spoilers.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's season ten finale titled "Ass Kickers United: Mac and Charlie Join a Cult" is a fantastic episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The entire gang have their moments to shine that make the episode incredibly enjoyable. Mac and Charlie drive the episode with Dee, Dennis, and Frank manipulating the cult for their own benefit. It is this dynamic that makes the episode a classic feeling for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I would recommend "Ass Kickers United: Mac and Charlie Join a Cult".

Grade: B

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season Ten

The tenth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a solid season overall. This season has a few stand out episodes in: "Charlie Work", "The Gang Misses the Boat", "The Gang Goes on Family Fight", and "Ass Kickers United: Mac and Charlie Join a Cult". These episodes with "Charlie Work" are some of the best episodes in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's airings. This season creates a massive ceiling for any future It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's episodes.

The tenth season does have some duds that make the season harder to like. The duds make the season feel more bland and similar to a conventional situational comedy television series. Even with this fault, the season has excellent standout episodes that make this season one of the absolute best in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's history.

I highly recommend It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's tenth season.

Grade: A.

S10: Looks deceptively easy, but great writing and performances play to the show ongoing strengths

Warning: Spoilers
I think this is probably the most deceptive show on television because, at the minute, it is making it look easy that it has been on the air for 10 years, and looks to do so for at least a couple more. It is deceptive because, a few weaker seasons aside, it generally makes it look easy to do, since it plays on the same ideas over and over again. To the contrary though, this makes the job much harder because it is a matter then of doing the same thing while also keeping it moving and fresh. This season is not significantly different from the others in that it focuses on the amoral group at Paddy's, and basically plays them out for all their moral and personal weaknesses in a different plot each week - although it really is more about them than whatever plot we are following.

This is probably for the best since none of the plots are good enough on their own - joining a cult, spying, drinking beer on a domestic flight, being on a quiz show; none of it really matters as long as it functions well enough to allow the gang to be the horrible people that they are. Throughout the season this is the case and I found it fairly consistently funny thanks to the characters and the performances. Again, it is probably unfair on the cast to assume it is easy for them, because actually for them to play the same characters but still make it work says a lot about their delivery. Howerton is great, while Day is always fun. DeVito always impresses by how much he throws himself into it, but to be honest Olson and McElhenney are just as great, and there is not really a weak link amongst them. The supporting cast features some familiar faces but really it is all about the main group, and the show is better for remembering this.

Another really enjoyable, amoral and frantic season with writing that plays to the show's strengths, and performances that continue to deliver on it.

Very dark episode - I LOVED IT

Warning: Spoilers
This episode I have found to be quite disturbing which is why I loved it so much!

From the manipulation of weaker minded people to Jojo's self-immolation, this was a dark one folks!

Seriously underrated imho

Like the contrast of sweet and salty, comedy mixed with disturbing/dark themes are always a treat to me. ;-)

Didn't like this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I'm writing a review because I wanted to show someone how great It's always sunny in Philadelphia is and sadly the episode wasn't good at all, I would even say this episode is one of the worst of the entire show in my opinion:

It didn't have the normal vibe to it; the gang acted weirdly, jokes could have been funnier and and the jingles were badly chosen too. Overall the episode seemed made in a rush. It might be because I don't like the director's style but he also made the "Mac kills his Dad" episode on this season and I thought it was funny as hell.

Doesn't change my opinion about it's always sunny in Philadelphia being the best TV show though!

My least favorite episode, so don't show this one to newbies

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show, but I'm with Austinjk. I watched this episode with a couple of friends that crashed at my house after a night of drinking. I was trying to sell them on this show and it was the only episode I hadn't watched yet this season. I was super disappointed because it just wasn't that funny. I watched it again by myself, thinking I was too worried about my friend's perceptions, but it wasn't any better. I should have picked one of the many fantastic episodes from the past, but hindsight is 20/20.

I've watched seasons 1 - 9 through 3 times (and some episodes much more) and I can honestly say this was my least favorite episode :(.
