As Daphne realizes she has hit rock bottom, Bay takes on the school when it comes to prom rules enforcing a gender normative dress code.

Warning: Spoilers
Quite honestly, between the Toby storyline and the Daphne storyline, for most of the episode I just rolled my eyes. For, as documented in any review of which Toby is relevant enough to be mentioned, I just find Toby to hardly be worth his screen time and remain of the opinion that he should have died instead of Angelo. But, since the past can't be rewritten, he is here and floundering. Almost as much as Daphne who I think the writers realized has perhaps gone too far. If just because, keeping with how Switched at Birth rarely forgets old story lines, they realize Daphne is on probation and having her do this rebellious streak would mean having her go to jail for a storyline. Something I wouldn't mind seeing, for it would be refreshing, but it seems Daphne's cycle of rebellion, then becoming the good girl who gets all the attention, may comeback.

Topic 1: The Throwaways – Toby (Featuring Tank)

Toby is struggling to get regular gigs as a DJ so Tank tries to help him by making fliers and, low and behold, it helps Toby get a gig. Thing is, it is with Omega Psi and with Toby preferring the $200 over Tank's friendship at the time, he does the gig. And while he may feel guilty, with Omega Psi treating him nicely, even giving him an extra $100 when the sprinklers come on and maybe ruin Toby's equipment, it seems him and Tank come to an agreement that Tank is the one who hates them, not Toby. But with Toby trying to have at least one friend, since Travis and he rarely interact, he decides to take Tank's side on the issue and use that extra $100 for them to eat out.

Topic 2: Rewriting History - Bay

After who knows how long, Bay and Regina finally have a moment thanks to Bay going to prom as the prom queen. Something which shocks her and me too since the show didn't mention prom once in the last few episodes. Never mind we never saw Emmett campaign for them to become prom queen and king. Leading me to wonder how big are the time jumps between episodes?

Anyway, while Bay and Regina have their mother and daughter moment, in which Bay is in this beautiful blue dress, and Regina apologizes about all the attention Daphne gets, Bay mentions the school's oppressive dress code which forces gender normative styles for boys and girls. Meaning boys must be in tuxedos and girls in dresses. Something which upsets Natalie and her girlfriend Hilary, who hasn't worn a dress since she was 2.

Leading to Bay showing she is Angelo's baby girl by fighting against the oppressors by wearing a suit to prom in protest. Something which leads to some bigotry from Mr. Z, a prom chaperon, who says that girls in suits are freaks and even insults a guy in a tux with a pink shirt on. So, being that Bay has had enough of dealing with being an outsider at home and at Buckner, she takes the prom outside and everyone enjoys themselves. Well except Emmett, to a point, who wanted to make up for the debacle which was Junior Prom.

Topic 3: Rock Bottom – Daphne & Regina

I remember long ago when Bay's story lines seemed too dramatic and Daphne was the one who had the compelling stories. That seems so long ago now with all Daphne has done since Angelo's passing. For now she is on probation, formerly hanged out with Nacho and caused $100,000+ worth of damage, and is getting high, stealing from the clinic, and we also find out she never applied to North Western. Naturally leading to Kathryn to think Daphne needs therapy, while John and Regina almost seem like if they could spank her they would. Though being that spanking a 17 or 18 year old girl isn't an option, instead she just ends up continuing to mess up her life.

Like with the stealing from the clinic thing. She takes oxycodone from the clinic and due to this Dr. Jackson fires her. Then the idiot may have thrown the pills down the drain, but with her seemingly not getting rid of the bottle, watch that become an issue. But what is the biggest issue right now is Wes knows Daphne is the one who did all that damage to his site. And while he has a crush on Regina, he lost a lot of money and now has to deal with Chip Coto just to make sure the project gets finished. Leaving us to wonder if 3rd times the charm for Daphne when it comes to boys getting her in trouble.

Which, honestly, I'm hoping she does go to jail since not only would it make for good stories while she is in, but then imagine the post-prison stories dealing with ex-con discrimination, among other things.
