The latest chapter of Slasher is well underway.
On Slasher: Ripper Episode 3, Basil (Eric McCormack) is on a mission to unmask the Widow.
In doing so, he realizes that someone from his rich inner circle might be responsible.
If the Widow taught us anything in the first two episodes of this Shudder and AMC+ drama, they are ready to dole out justice towards the elite.
As a result, people are dropping like flies, and it looks like Basil and his powerful friends are harboring a fateful secret about an event several years before.
In an exclusive clip shared with TV Fanatic, we see the extent Basil is willing to go to get answers.
He's not the nicest person, but he strikes me as the kind of person who will find answers easier than some other characters.
With power and influence, it's easier to get things done, but in the Slasher sandbox,...

Our wait will soon be over, as Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, released a new trailer today, and it's pretty juicy!
The long-awaited return of a successful franchise is only weeks away with the arrival of Slasher: Ripper.
Slasher: Ripper debuts with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, April 6 on Shudder and AMC+ with new episodes rolling out weekly on Thursdays.
Slasher: Ripper takes the franchise back in time to the late 19th century.
It follows Basil Garvey, a charismatic tycoon whose success is only rivaled by his ruthlessness, as he oversees a city on the cusp of a new century, and a social upheaval that will see its streets run red with blood.

Unwelcome is a horror movie directed by Jon Wright starring Hannah John-Kamen and Douglas Booth.
A mixture of horror and local bright spots that, as it progresses, stops being “scary” to introduce us to “something else” that, although it will not be that surprising, it is quite interesting.
The creatures that appear will be quite familiar to you (whether or not they resemble the Critters is up to you).
Movie Review Unwelcome (2023)
For a B-movie, it has its merits in some places, especially in terms of cinematography. It knows how to maintain its tone of a fable and coherently interconnect the protagonist landscape with the narrative and the personal dramas of each one. The acting is fine, but no one here is exactly going to win an Oscar.

One of the most acclaimed studio comedies in recent memory will soon be available from the comfort of your couch, in your preferred method of consumption. The movie in question is "Bros," the gay romcom starring Billy Eichner and directed by Nicholas Stoller, of "Neighbors" fame, not to mention that it was produced by Judd Apatow. The point is, this movie has a great pedigree of talent, with our own Sarah Milner giving it a glowing review out of TIFF. Now, for those who may have missed it in theaters, the time has come to watch it at home.
But the question becomes, what's the best way to watch "Bros" at home? Is it going to be available on a major streaming service? Is it available through digital retailers? And what about a Blu-ray release for lovers of physical media out there? We've got all of the information you need right here but,...

Universal Pictures has released the first – and decidedly Nsfw – trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy “Bros,” and it paints a hilarious portrait of a gay man trying to find love.

A close-knit crew of wildly different people ride around on a spaceship having adventures. If you’re a sci-fi fan, there are very good odds that this synopsis describes one of your hooks into the genre. That crew might be a dysfunctional band of space criminals and revolutionaries, or a clean cut team of scientists, diplomats and soldiers serving a galactic Space Un, but there is a core appeal to this set up across the genre.
“Ensemble crews are one of the quickest and most powerful ways to forge a found family. A foundational example for me was Blake’s 7,” says Paul Cornell, who has written stories for the Star Trek: Year Five comic series among his many speculative fiction credits. “They haven’t been recruited, they have relative degrees of distance from the cause, they’ve been flung together. The most important thing is that they’re all very different people.

“Red Sonja” has found its star.
Hannah John-Kamen, best known as the villain Ghost in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” will wield the sword of the comic book fantasy hero in Millennium Films’ long-gestating feature adaptation. Joey Soloway (“Transparent”) is directing the film, from a script by Soloway and Tasha Huo (a writer on Netflix’s upcoming “Tomb Raider” TV series).
“Hannah is a very talented actress who we’ve been following for years and she is Red Sonja,” Soloway said in a statement. “Her range, sensibilities and strength are all qualities we have been looking for and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this journey together.”
Created in the early 1970s by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel’s “Conan the Barbarian” comics, Red Sonja quickly became popular enough for her own spinoff series. That is certainly due in part to the character’s formidable fighting skills and forthright personality,...

Get ready for the weirdest family reunion ever when The Umbrella Academy returns. Earlier this month, we got confirmation of the news we’d all been hoping for, that being that Netflix has renewed the kooky comic book adaptation for a third run. And work is clearly already beginning on the next batch of episodes, as we’ve now got our first teaser image for season 3, which promises a very wild premiere.
Netflix has shared the first page of the script for 3×01 – see below – which we can now say is called “Meet the Family.” Series co-creator Steven Blackman pens the episode with Michelle Lovretta, a consulting producer on the show who’s also contributed to Killjoys and Lost Girl. This might not be as a tantalizing as a set pic, but we can still garner something from the title of the installment.

In episode 6 of The Boys Season 2, ‘The Bloody Doors Off’, we got a few answers to some of our lingering questions, and our first proper introduction to Cindy, the supe with a unique power – one that frightens other supes.

Hödlmoser was behind Pennywise’s strange and disturbing contortions in Andy Muschietti’s It, and has worked on The Strain, Killjoys, The Handmaid’s Tale and The Expanse – clearly a multi-skilled performer in demand!
We finally get to meet Cindy at Vought’s Sage Grove facility, where she is being kept locked down under the care of former The Seven member, Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore). We can safely say that Vought has been trying to control and manipulate Cindy for quite a while at its New Mutants-esque hospital,...

And now for some good baseball news in 2020: Amazon has officially ordered to series A League of Their Own, an adaptation of the beloved 1992 film.
Billed as a “reinterpretation” of the Penny Marshall classic, Amazon’s hour-long adaptation — which first went into development in 2018 — will widen the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball. As it takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, A League of Their Own follows a new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths toward the field, both in the League and outside of it.

Much of Netflix's The Stranger is ridiculously immersive.
The television series -- based on Harlan Coben's book of the same name -- apparently differs in some major ways from the source material.
But not having read the book myself, the adaptation is a terrifically winding road of deception and heartbreak.
So much occurs in the series, it's ridiculous to try and keep it all straight.
But the skillfull tying together of all the twisty knots is an all-enveloping and charged experience.
The premise places a blackmailing stranger -- played by Hannah John-Kamen -- at the core of controversy, as she attempts to eradicate lies and expose secrets for money.
She has a pained passion for executing these exposures with her business partner, Ingrid Prisby, played by Lily Loveless.
The domino effect of the first reveal on The Stranger Season 1 Episode 1 slowly builds into a catastrophic entanglement of many lives,...

It's almost time to return to the magical world of The Magicians.
Syfy on Monday revealed that the fifth season of its hit drama series would hit the air January 15 at 10/9c.
The network also dropped a new trailer that teases some spooky happenings. That's just par for the course with this series!
Based on the best-selling novels by Lev Grossman, The Magicians centers on a group of friends as they discover their magical abilities and ward off evil creatures who threaten to destroy the magical world they've come to know.
Last season, magic was saved, but at a terrible cost: the life of Quentin Coldwater, who died heroically to save his friends - and the world.
Julia, Alice, Eliot, Margo, Penny and their friends (and frenemies) must learn to navigate a world without him.
Now, a new threat has arisen: in freeing magic, the balance tipped the other way...

I love it when a plan comes together.
Finally, after being a step behind The Lady all season, the Killjoys and their resistance allies won when it counted on the series finale, Killjoys Season 5 Episode 10.
For an ultimate battle, there was a surprisingly low body count, with no one making a noble sacrifice at the end, which was a little disappointing.
In fact, one character thought dead even got resurrected.
The retrospective montage narrated by Khlyen was a perfect way to open the finale, reminding us how the characters' bonds had developed through the years.
Dutch's stirring speech atop the rise set the stage for the battle to follow. The group hug, including the reluctant Turin, was an enjoyable pause before the storm.
Many of the best Killjoys episodes come when each character has his or her mission to undertake, and the finale was no exception.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including the Arrowverse, Titans, The Righteous Gemstones and Dancing With the Stars!
1 | That late-night board meeting on Titans seemed rather unfazed by the young woman who crashed through their window, right? Also, did everyone catch Roy Harper’s name on Donna’s cell phone? And does anyone suspect the new Titans do so much of their training blindfolded so as to better conceal stunt doubles?

A satisfying Killjoys series finale brings resolution in the fight against The Lady and keeps the door open for future adventures.

Killjoys Season 5 Episode 10
“It doesn’t matter how your story begins. It’s about who’s with you at the end.”
By their very nature, series finales present considerable challenges even when the showrunner and writers enjoy plenty of advance notice as is the case with the SyFy space drama Killjoys. Operating at a breakneck pace, “Last Dance” does its best to keep up with an abundance of moving parts in an episode that leaves the door open to resume the adventures of Team Awesome Force should the opportunity ever arise. It’s not always successful, but it’s always a lot of fun.
Appropriately enough, before fading to black, the final image depicts a gun toting Dutch flanked by...

That's how to set up a series finale.
All the resistance members but one were brought back together on Killjoys Season 5 Episode 9.
That one, Jaq, may turn out to be the most important piece in the final battle against The Lady.
The big happening in this penultimate episode was the reunion of the Killjoys and Aneela and Delle Sayeh Kendry, whose presence would soon prove important.
It was sweet watching "sisters" Dutch and Aneela reunite.
It also became clear that the Killjoys and Aneela and Kendry were working at cross purposes to a degree, with the former trying to save Westerley and the latter seeking to preserve Qresh.
It's unlikely that will be too much of an obstacle, however, as they all want to defeat The Lady, first and foremost.
The Killjoys' fight against The Lady has had to be a guerilla action, attacking from the shadows and using guile for lack of resources.
