In 2009/10 Writer - Director J.R. Niles embarked on a solo journey to Tanzania, East Africa to research the impacts of climate change and coffee farming economics on the people and habitats of MT. Kilimanjaro. This journey became the first film she directed. What began as a filmmaking journey and a research endeavor became a journey of soul. Since childhood Niles had a calling to go to East Africa. Exploration is in her blood. This journey brought her to Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti, as she fell in love with the land, its wildlife and its people. She recalls the absolute beauty of Kilimanjaro and East Africa's savannas as ineffable and considers Kilimanjaro keeper of her heart. Niles stated At Kilimanjaro I touched the face of god.
