- Jake Doyle: [Leslie unlocks Jake's handcuffs] Uh, what are you doing?
- Leslie Bennett: The right thing.
- Jake Doyle: No, no, no, no. I can't have you doing this.
- Leslie Bennett: Listen, Jake Doyle, there's no way in hell I'm going to let you go down for a crime you didn't commit. So get up
- [Leslie tugs up on Jake's arm]
- Leslie Bennett: And let's go!
- [Sgt Hood walks into the interrogation room]
- Leslie Bennett: Hood?
- Sergeant Daniel Hood: [Sgt Hood looks exasperated] Here, take my cruiser.
- [Hood tosses Jake his car keys]
- Sergeant Daniel Hood: In fact, you can punch me in my face. It'll save my job.
- Jake Doyle: [He hesitates] For the first time Sgt Hood I don't want to punch you in your face.
- Sergeant Daniel Hood: I'll help you. Jake Doyle, you're the most arrogant, hot-headed, narcissistic person.
- [Jake punches Daniel in his chin]
- Leslie Bennett: Thanks, Hood. Let's go!
- [Leslie walks over top of Daniel]
- Jake Doyle: Yeah, thanks pally b'y.
- [Jake walks over top of Daniel]
- Leslie Bennett: Renee, can you give us a minute?
- [Renee lets Malachy go into Leslie's office]
- Leslie Bennett: What's going on?
- Malachy Doyle: We were desperate, Rhodes has the evidence that we need to clear Jake's name.
- Leslie Bennett: He does? I don't suppose you could convince him to give it to you?
- Malachy Doyle: No.
- [pauses]
- Malachy Doyle: What's wrong?
- Leslie Bennett: I lost my job today.
- Malachy Doyle: I'm sorry luv.
- Leslie Bennett: That's not why I'm upset... I've got to tell Jake.
- Malachy Doyle: Tell him what?
- [He pauses]
- Malachy Doyle: Leslie, you can tell me anything.
- Leslie Bennett: Mal? I'm pregnant. I'm carrying your son's child.
- Malachy Doyle: Oh, that's wonderful. This isn't fair. This is not fair. You two never had the opportunity to... does Jake know?
- Leslie Bennett: No, please don't tell him. I've got to be the one to look him straight in the eye and tell him.
- Malachy Doyle: Okay. Leslie, I'm here for you. I always will be.
- [Malachy kisses Leslie on her forehead. Renee enters Leslie's office and grabs Malachy by his arm]
- Tinny Doyle: OH MY GOD! DES?
- Des Courtney: SHH! Quiet! This is a hospital zone.
- [Des opens his eyes to see Tinny]
- Rose Miller: I should just leave you two alone.
- Tinny Doyle: Des, I'm so sorry!
- Des Courtney: It's okay Tinny. Could you hold my hand? I sure could use a friend.
- [Tinny holds Des' hand]
- Leslie Bennett: [stammering] I'm so... I'm so.
- Inspector Vince Pickard: That's okay Sergant. Just take your time.
- Leslie Bennett: You know what? I'm not sorry because I haven't done anything wrong. The only apology I owe is to Jake Doyle and his family for not finding the evidence to clear his name.
- Inspector Vince Pickard: Sergeant Bennett that's enough. We'll give you our decision before long.
- Jake Doyle: [as Alisha walks in] Do you see? Do you see what your bosses did to him?
- Rose Miller: [Rose pushes Alisha against the bar] Did your boss Damon Rhodes do this?
- Alisha Maracle: I don't work for Rhodes anymore. I swear I don't know anything about this
- Rose Miller: LIAR!
- Jake Doyle: Rose, let her go.
- [Mal holds Rose back]
- Jake Doyle: What do you want?
- Alisha Maracle: Jake, I wanted to warn you, Rhodes is going to come after you and your family. We need to work together
- Jake Doyle: Well, that's not going to happen.
- Rose Miller: [Seething] Get out of here before I really lose my temper.
- Malachy Doyle: I'd do what she says if I were you.
- Alisha Maracle: Okay. Whatever?
- [Alisha leaves]
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: [as she puts a bandage on Jake's gut wound] You know that this isn't good enough. You need to see a doctor because this wound is bad and there's still glass in it.
- Jake Doyle: If I go to the hospital then I have to fill out a police report which means I'll loose my last few moments of freedom. So, that's out.
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: Jake I know that you didn't kill William Clarke. The man was scum. David prosecuted him on those fraud charges.
- Jake Doyle: Thank you Nikki.
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: Yes it is.
- [Nikki hugs Jake around his waist]
- Jake Doyle: [Jake wincing in pain] Nikki? Nikki? My gut cut.
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: Shit! Sorry.
- Jake Doyle: I know that this is putting you in a tight spot so I'd appreciate it if you would just leave.
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: Okay!
- [She hugs Jake again]
- Jake Doyle: [Jake winces in pain again] Nikki? Nikki? My gut cut!
- Dr. Nikki Renholds: Sorry!
- [Nikki gathers her things up and leaves]
- Kathleen Doyle: We have a biker gang after us?
- Rose Miller: I'm afraid so dear.
- Kathleen Doyle: This is why Tinny should come with me and now she can now that she's done with Des.
- Kathleen Doyle, Rose Miller: [Rose and Kathleen hear the front door open. Rose picks up a kitchen knife] Ahh!
- Jake Doyle: Don't worry. It's just us.
- Kathleen Doyle: [Hugging Jake] Jake? I can't believe you're going to jail.
- Jake Doyle: It's okay.
- [pauses]
- Jake Doyle: Where are Des and Tinny?
- Kathleen Doyle: They're meeting at the Duke
- Malachy Doyle: That's not good.
- [Jake and Malachy walk out of the room with Kathleen and Rose not far behind]
- Kathleen Doyle: Hey, wait for us.
- Mayor Budgell: Well, hello gentlemen.
- Malachy Doyle: Mr. Mayor?
- Mayor Budgell: And if it isn't the man who killed my predecessor. Jack?
- Jake Doyle: It's Jake.
- Mayor Budgell: Really Jack? You had to kill Mayor Clark? You couldn't just call the complaint line like everyone else?
- Jake Doyle: My name is Jake.
- Mayor Budgell: I hope you don't kill me for that Jack.
- Jake Doyle: It's Jake.
- Mayor Budgell: You know what Jack? I wonder who's going to stop the double-parked cars and the graffiti taggers that are terrorizing the city once you're in the big house Jack.
- Jake Doyle: My name is Jake.
- Mayor Budgell: William Clarke was a sleveen. I don't know if you killed him or not but if you did I'm glad. You know what else? I know that everybody will be voting for
- [points to himself]
- Mayor Budgell: Budgell.
- Malachy Doyle: He seems like a nice enough man.
- Jake Doyle: He's a tool.
- Leslie Bennett: So, Damon Rhodes has the evidence you need to clear your name
- Jake Doyle: Yeah, he does.
- Leslie Bennett: And we don't know who we can trust anymore because we don't know who else is in Damon Rhodes' back pocket.
- Jake Doyle: It looks like it's just you and me.
- Leslie Bennett: We can do this. I know we can.
- Jake Doyle: Let's just hope that there aren't anymore suprises.
- Jake Doyle: [while Malachy is deep in thought] Are you sleeping with your eyes opened again?
- Malachy Doyle: No, I was thinking. How can we not fix this?
- Jake Doyle: I'm not sure we can fix this. I was caught standing over the body with the murder weapon in my hand.
- Malachy Doyle: You've done a lot of bad stuff son but 95% of the time it's because you want to help someone. Now I want to help you and it's killing me. I love you.
- Jake Doyle: [He smiles] Should we kiss now or what?
- Malachy Doyle: Shut up!
- Jake Doyle: [Over the phone] Well, that didn't go well and apparently, I'm a fugitive now.
- Malachy Doyle: Text me your location. I'll come and find you.
- Jake Doyle: No, Dad, it's too dangerous.
- Malachy Doyle: Text me your location.
- Jake Doyle: Okay.
- Malachy Doyle: JAKE? GET OUT OF HERE!
- [Malachy meets Jake at their appointed location. Jake notices two bikers coming up behind Malachy]
- Jake Doyle: DAD? LOOK OUT!
- [One of the bikers comes up behind Malachy and clubs him in the back of his knee. The other biker throws a pipe bomb under his truck. A loud explosion is heard while Jake and Malachy dive for cover]
- Jake Doyle: Well, there goes your truck. Are you okay?.
- Malachy Doyle: Yeah
- Jake Doyle: [as his cellphone rings] What?
- Damon Rhodes: Going to the judge... not smart. And I need your answer now.
- Jake Doyle: There's no way I'm ever going to work for you.
- Damon Rhodes: Now I have to take out you and your entire family.
- Jake Doyle: That was Rhodes. He's coming for us.
- Jake Doyle: Hey!
- Leslie Bennett: Hey!
- Jake Doyle: [He kisses Leslie] I just
- [He turns to Rose and Des]
- Jake Doyle: GET OUT!
- [Rose turns to Des as she makes the "We should leave" gesture]
- Leslie Bennett: Jake, we've gotta pull out all of the stops. There's evidence out there I know it.
- Jake Doyle: I'm heading out. I can't let you put yourself out there for me okay?
- Leslie Bennett: Okay, but we'll talk later right?
- Jake Doyle: Yeah!
- [Jake kisses Leslie]
- Jake Doyle: Des?
- Malachy Doyle: [He checks his pulse] He's alive.
- Kathleen Doyle: Des? We're here.
- Jake Doyle: Des? We're going to get who did this to you and they're gonna pay. B'y, they're going to pay. They"re going to pay.
- Des Courtney: [Softly] Oh, Jake. I don't want you to put yourself at risk.
- Jake Doyle: Shh! Make sure that he gets to the hospital.
- Kathleen Doyle: Dad don't be stupid. Dad? We can't have you going to jail.
- Malachy Doyle: Nobody's going to go to jail... except Jake.
- [Jake rolls his eyes]
- Jake Doyle: [looking directly at Malachy] Maybe I should just do what he wants. Maybe then he'll leave you alone?
- Malachy Doyle: [Anger growing] I taught you better than that so that's out. But we have to act now!
- Finn: Oh, Rose! I'm busy.
- Des Courtney: Hello Finn!
- Finn: Ahh young Courtney!
- Rose Miller: So. why were you taking pictures of that woman and that man?
- Finn: [Grabs Finn's camera] Oh, you're a dirty old man Finster
- Rose Miller: So why were you taking pictures of that man with Vanessa?
- Finn: Venessa works for an escort service
- Des Courtney: [Sarcastically] Oh do you get to wear the dress and all?
- Finn: I just collects the cash smart ass. Anyways. Someone paid me to follow and take pictures of Vanessa with Judge Tizard and this guy Thomas Plaskett.
- Rose Miller: Thomas Plaskett! I thought I knew that guy.
- Des Courtney: Who is he?
- Rose Miller: He's a city planner. We had dealings with him when we were working on the Duke.
- Des Courtney: And who paid you to do this?
- Finn: Oh, I dunno. It was all done over the phone. No meetings, all cash.
- Des Courtney: HEY! Speaking of cash! YOU OWN ME!
- Finn: [Taking his camera back.] That money is long gone, man! The economy and all that.
