Nightwatch
tbedard852 February 2015
LOVED it! Caught it on television the other night.....wanted to watch MORE! Didn't realize it's a brand new reality series! I LOVE to see "live" medical, ems, police, fire action!! Recommended!! Want MORE!! I enjoyed seeing the interactions of the individual partners while working! I liked that they added "the outcome of the story" in any case where it was possible! Eg...whether the patient lived or recovered, etc. I also like the following similar programs: "Trauma in the ER"6 "Untold stories of the ER" VGH....Vancouver General Hospital "live" trauma center. Would be great to have these programs continue on.....so often they just have a certain numbers of episodes and thats it! Keep 'em coming!!

Amazing
itsme_csh20 February 2015
When facing high stress situations it is easy to forget that these people are human beings. EMS didn't come fast enough. The police officer was rude. Somehow they become the bad guys. It takes a special kind of person to do what these people do. Every day they put themselves in harms way to help others. What I love about this show is that it reveals the obstacles that police, fire, and EMS face in an effort to do their job. It gives you an inside peek into how much these people love what they do and, more importantly, why.

New Orleans practically crackles with energy and life. But there is a dark side to the beauty. Filming Night Watch there is a brilliant idea because you see it all: the darkness and the light, the good and the evil of man.

I am completely addicted to this show.

We're glad to see Nightwatch New Orleans is back. It is well filmed reality TV at its best. The real people in the program have perspective and are sensitive to the public they serve so well.

Nightwatch is Fantastic Show
lizzyblueyez3 January 2016
I absolutely LOVE this show it's kind of like COPS but it follows a group of EMS workers in "The Big Easy" or New Orleans. I like how they are all like a big close family. They really love their jobs and always have the other's back. Some of their reactions to situations are hilarious and you never know what's gonna come out their mouths. One thing I have to warn is that scenes can get kind of gory. On some of the calls, if you're queasy you WILL have to turn your face away from the TV. But thank God some of the more grotesque injuries are blurred out from the network.I always like how at the end of the show there are good updates for the people they treated.

When I tell you he is my favorite person on this show. He is so honest and I can relate to him so much. The show would not be the same without him. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

Lost Interest After New Orleans Was Cancelled...
Shae_Ink7 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was a die hard Nightwatch fan from day one. Holly, Nick, Dan, Titus and Keeley from the New Orleans crew are what made the show. I was going through EMT school when Season 2 started and it was so much more intriguing to watch these hero's in action because I actually understood some of the lingo and methods they were using to save lives. That, combined with their compassion and the beautiful spirit of the city and it's people was exactly the EMS workplace any EMT or Medic would love to be part of.

Unfortunately, Tampa was a huge disappointment. I felt cheated on, the EMS workers were nothing like "my Titus and Dan"...I was thoroughly disappointed in Season 4, no charisma, hardly any compassion, and I live in Tampa so I was just super turned off from the show after that. I watched the remaining season simply because I felt like I could still learn a thing or two by watching, but only watched Tampa season once. I could watch season 1-3 over and over, and would have given 10/10 if it stayed in Naw'lins!

Please continue this show forever! The content is AWESOME! Love that it's graphic and real life, not scripted. This show would be great in any major city.

I love this show
Elaineratrat25 February 2017
I look forward to watching the New Orleans crew. The comradery is amazing. The EMTs/paramedics are knowledgeable and caring. The police officers are outstanding and good looking too! Although we don't see a lot of the fire department in the most recent episodes they don't miss a beat either. I'm going to miss watching the New Orleans crew. The intros for the Tampa episodes look good, but I don't think it will be the same for me.

A BINGWORTHY REALITY SHOW
didisouth4 June 2021
My sister mentioned this show to me some time ago, and I caught the beginning of an episode from another show. I was HOOKED in the first few seconds! We binge watched the first season, and couldn't wait to begin the 2nd season and beyond. Didn't make it pass the first episode of S2, but then S3 and beyond was back in NOLA and it's a show that we can't wait to watch on Thursday nights. To say this reality show is well produced is an understatement. It's almost as if we're watching a live version of Law & Order! Please, I beg you, Keep The Show in New Orleans!

The passion and love the cast has for the people they serve, especially the paramedics, are so heartwarming and loving, it's exactly what we all need to see; Love without Judgement.

Great topic and potential, questionable direction
i_imdb-512-3424023 January 2015
From the beginning this show seemed very reminiscent of a UK show called "999," which chronicled the duties of emergency services in Blackpool, England (which shares some broad similarities with New Orleans). "999" featured outstanding camera work and a superb soundtrack, leading to a great, somewhat dark, yet polished tone.

Unfortunately this show is formatted like the rest of what airs A&E. The drama seems forced and the difficult duties faced by emergency services are clouded over by sound effects, predictable music, and thrilling camera shots. Not to mention there seems to be a fair bit of staged scenes (which is I guess is still commonplace in reality-TV).

But honestly, what turned me off the most was the dubbed-in siren sound effects. There is basically one sound effect that is almost everywhere in post-production sound editing for emergency vehicle sirens. It's distinct and it's obviously fake. In several places throughout the show you can still hear the original siren of whatever vehicle they're filming while the fake one is overlapped. I guess the idea is that the audience doesn't feel a police car or an ambulance is in a hurry unless you can clearly hear a siren (emergency vehicles respond without sirens all the time). While obviously the siren itself is a stupid issue to get hung up on, to me it has become a blatant indicator that a show is less interested in reality and more focused on cheap production quality and satisfying the perceived unintelligent audience.

What fascinates me are people. When I sat down to watch this, I wanted to know more about the lives of the people they were filming. What impacts does seeing the dark-side of society have on these men and women? What I got was action shot after action shot: stick around through the commercial break.

This show and its producers have the potential to make this something truly special. New Orleans is a perfect setting for showing how much really goes on "behind the scenes." Unfortunately it plays out like any other C-grade "documentary" on A&E, and much to my dismay, I'm afraid that won't change. But overall, it's definitely worth a watch.

First 3 seasons kick butt! just forget season 4
lilynectar11 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I found this show by accident and binged-watched the first three seasons. The feel of the show is amazing, the people combined with the culture of New Orleans is what made this show so enjoyable. They keep repeating the idea that everyone in the city is a big family and by god, it sure as hell felt like it. The paramedics' bedside manner and ability to disarm almost all volatile or high anxiety situations along with the cops' easy way with the criminals that they are in pursuit of....moved this black, cold heart of mine. There is much to learn from them in the way they engaged with each human that came in their path.

I went into season 4 without knowing the change in location and was absolutely heartbroken when I found the show filming in my native Tampa Bay...blech! Not to mention, there is no 'family' feel and it is all too impersonal. The paramedic's somewhat heartless response (in the 2nd episode) to the suicidal patient was in stark contrast to the heartwarming talks the paramedics in New Orleans would have in the same situation. And a bit too much machismo from the police side of things.

The city of New Orleans did a great disservice to their police, fire and paramedic crews by canceling their contracts with the show. I understand not wanting 48 hours around, but Nightwatch, and the crews that were followed, was a great testimony to the Beautiful Spirit of the City <3 If they were still in New Orleans, I would rate the show a 10 but the change of venue was a bad (understatement) choice, IMO.

Should have stayed in New Orleans!
ENIGMA0516 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The first 3 seasons were just amazing! Learning about the culture and family togetherness of New Orleans first responders. But then dropping into Tampa out of nowhere in Season 4 without telling the viewer, it was very hard to get into it and I stopped watching. I would love for this show to return with NOLA because I miss the camaraderie of all 3 parts of the first responders. You don't have that type of thing in NYC either; at least not that I've seen. They're always trying out outdo each other. It's rare what NOLA has and should be shown to its fully potential! It's a 10/10 for me but only for the first 3 seasons! Everything else is a bust!

Love this show!

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show, it's so intriguing, I can't stop watching. I loved the New Orleans team and the way their seasons were/are set up. However I definitely wasn't a fan of the Tampa season and so happy when they went back to the N. O team. Tampa was too cop focused and actually pretty boring I almost didn't watch the next season, until I found out they went back to N. O. Holly is one of my favorites because I identify with her and her silly attitude. Titus is fantastic! I love the TOT. When the update the team in season 5 I was happy to see Holly's promotion to sprint and Titus still rocking it. I enjoyed meeting the new team members, they are great!

A good show with a solid "8" rating - seasons 1-3 were a "10" but everything after that is just a "6". I miss my New Orleans family!

montagra5 August 2018
I love the cast especially the EMT/Paramedic. They are so caring, respectful and really take time out for the patients. i especially love how Holly, Dan, Titus, Keeley and Garvin treats the patients like human being not the product of their environment.. i just love the show and all the people that work to save lives.. firefighters, police, ems and etc. i am glad there is a realistic show that gives us an insight on the night shift

HOLLY....leave those eyebrows alone!
ccshoppe9 April 2021
Really drives me crazy sometimes watching the show on the episodes when Holly does weird stuff and make these huge giant eyebrows and colors them in. It makes me think of a clown, you don't even notice her face which is pretty, all you do is you're drawn to these huge overly large eyebrows. Her natural ones are fine and look better on the screen. She is pretty enough she doesn't have to do that because it's not really attractive.

The show is like most medical reality type shows. Some episodes better then others. It is always more interesting to find out what happens to those injured. One would hope these ER and EMT shows allow people to understand to some degree how hard those fields are for all those 'first responders' even on everyday and not just times like this pandemic.

LaToya da distroya is ever present
fatdave22218 April 2021
This show in 2015 was and EXACT representation of N. O. This new "I love New Orleans", "the people are so caring", "I would never live anywhere else" b.s. Is now the central theme of the 2020/2021 series. LaToya and Williams got to the producers, I'm sure and said to stop showing what a hellhole the city truly is. Williams emptied the jails. Murder is up 60% and armed car jackings are a daily occurrence and are now actually expected.

Decent show in an 'A&E' kind of way
corazontvc19 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
If you've seen your share of A&E reality shows, you'll know what to expect here. This is not a compliment. Pounding music, quick cutaway scenes, dialogue that seems conveniently scripted, you get the idea. What saves the show is the actual content, which is quite interesting. New Orleans is one of the most violent cities in one of the most violent industrialized countries in the world. Wander outside the French Quarter and you have a higher chance of meeting your death that you would at the height of the Iraq war. But it's also a party city and has a world class university (Tulane). So imagine being emergency services/first responders in this situation and that's what this is.

You see everything from paramedics to firefighters to police to SWAT, but my main interest is the paramedics. There are various partnerships on the show, but for my money, they could literally build an entire show around the partnership of the paramedic crew of Holly and Nick. These two are charismatic, caring and from what we see on the show, highly competent. And apparently the paramedics in New Orleans are highly tattooed, but I digress.

I would rather see a more gritty version of this show to fit in with the city itself, but I really love seeing docs about paramedics so I'll take what I can get.
