By the end, you'll be asking "what the hell just happened?"

Season 27... yes, we all know The Simpsons has been drawn out for far too long, but you'd think they'd try to start the season off with a bang.

No bang, just a confusing contrived mess. A dream, in a dream, in a dream, in a dream?

At the end you'll have given up trying to pay attention, and be asking yourself "what is the point in this?".

Yawn, I watched it once but never again.

Bad, Boring, laughless Episode
alexkk-2971214 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Weak opener for the season, BARELY any laughs. Hardly any jokes, and the jokes there were - It's just different from the Simpsons before 2000s.

The divorce dream? Aw that's sad. Is it funny? No.

It's not Family Guy yet, but soon it will be if the Simpsons starts going this way. Earlier episodes I watched, before 2010, were not very funny either.

I'd prefer if they left Futurama, at least that show could have good episodes for a bit longer.

For parents: Contains mild sexuality, nothing serious, just what kids can hear at home.

Average opener, trivializing divorce

Warning: Spoilers
Hardly a season opener,I have been watching the Simpsons for many years now and this was a classic filler episode. There were indeed a few expected laughs here and there but I found it offensive. I suppose it is the stereotypical narrative that it is always a man's fault that a relationship or marriage isn't working when this is hardly a reflection of reality. Not to mention Homer ended up not having a place to stay. Yes,obviously this was just a 'dream' and there wouldn't be any continuity in subsequent episodes ,but if the writers decide to press on with more emasculating story lines and push more liberal views that damage the 'unity' of the dysfunctional yet beloved fictional family,I think I may just stop watching.

A Funny, albeit Forgetful, start to the Twenty Seventh Season,
lesleyharris3013 November 2015
Every Man's Dream is a good Simpsons episode with a well written storyline and plenty of very funny scenes. It's an enjoyable twenty minutes as we see Homer and Marge face one of the most difficult points in their relationship yet, and there is a stage where I genuinely felt like we wouldn't be seeing them together again, Lena Dunham also provides great voice work as the woman who lures him away from Marge. The episode becomes too far fetched towards the last five minutes, while it was funny and added a fun twist, it was ridiculous and somewhat tedious. As a regular episode, it's fine, and I think it would have been a better call putting this in the middle of the season, the first and last episode of a season should always be strong, and because this opened the twenty seventh season, it gets much more harsh criticism than it really deserves. Funny and enjoyable, but very weak at certain points, Every Man's Dream is a good, but not brilliant, start to the latest season of the Simpsons.

When Marge feels she can no longer be with Homer, he begins seeing a much younger woman.

A really bad series premiere.

Warning: Spoilers
"Every Man's Dream" is the first episode of the 27th season of The Simpsons and I think it's the worst episode i've seen by far. It's another one of those "Homer & Marge have an argument and their marriage is in shambles" episodes, that have already been done to death. You know they always get back together. And after all of the events that happen it was only a dream anyway ! WHAT?! The jokes weren't funny and I didn't care for any of the guests or new characters in this episode. At least I only watched it once.

A nice start for a new season!
burteriksson26 July 2020
I think this kicks off a brand new season (27!) in a pretty nice way. Homer and Marge's marriage is in trouble (no?!) and a series of interesting going-ons take place. Many good, wacky jokes and laughter ahead.

Honestly, this episode felt like it was written for non-Simpsons fans (and not in a good way)

Warning: Spoilers
Dear lord, if you thought "That 90's Show", " Lisa Goes Gaga" or even the unimaginably weird "The Musk Who Fell to Earth" were atrocious episodes then you might be careful for this one too. You know what? This was just awful, I mean the entire episode was just cringe- worthy at every single level without delivering anything remotely witty or at least a good- message.

It had unlikable characters, a lame story and their wittiness were yet again totally absent in this episode.

Although I know this episode got quite a big amount of talk for a little controversy that involved about Homer and Marge were going separating for real this time. But come on if you are a true Simpsons fan you know exactly what to expect at the very end. I mean really it was just that simple, they never really did it. Luckily it just happened to be another "huge" dream but then came along a quite possibly one of the most absolutely worst kinds of endings the Simpsons ever had to present to us people: it was all just a big fantasy for that show GIRLS, (which I haven't seen before and probably won't ever since it not my kind of show) seriously what the h?

I just didn't like it, it really felt like this episode was exclusively written to those who hates the Simpsons. I mean if the writers keep making episodes like this way then I might as well stop watching these newer episodes. Stop messing with your characters OK?
