Well-made piece

It takes a bit of suspension of disbelief to get past the beginning of this episode's suspense, but it props itself up eventually with a gritty approach that connects us deeply to two beat cops we only took as side characters so far.

seriously?

Warning: Spoilers
For almost 2 seasons Burgess has been portrayed as smart and having the instincts to move up to intelligence. Now, just because she's feeling stuck in a rut, she decides to ignore all her training. I could pick at every detail but it's a waste of time. Oh, and halfway through performing an emergency tracheotomy she asks her partner where he learned to do it???? pausing while the dude is almost dying ???? where's the consistency????

IDIOT

Apparently, viewers like stupidity to the absolute extreme. What could be more stupid than a beat cop going into a completely unknown building having lost both weapons and radios knowing the perp has at least 3 guns. Game over. Cops dead. At least they should be. (She says later that she's afraid to die which makes her even more stupid.)

After that it the scenarios only get more stupid, at least for the captured cops. Stupid on top of stupid. They both should have been dead at least three times over.

And Roman after being shot and kicked, well yeah, that's believable. Meanwhile Burgess looks more like a sissy at times than a cop.

Burgess is an idiot

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks Burgess is the dumbest cop ever. I honestly don't understand how she can be so stupid in this episode when up till now she seemed somewhat competent. She had so many chances to call for back up and just doesn't. Did she want to be the hero? Or is she just that stupid? Either way, this is one of my least favorite episodes ever. I can't stand her character on the best of days, but this was just her worst episode ever and I was barely able to watch.

Worst episode ever
richardgunn-627065 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Up until now ive loved ever episode but this one has to be the worst so far .... i mean she didnt save her partner shes the cause of it ... he himself said outside the warehouse if she saw a gun there is a right way to do this but did she listen no!!!! ... instead she beats on the door opening it up for the guy who got shot to fall forward and the gunmen to ambush them and take their guns ... then it just goes downhill from there ... the writing had to be dumb for her partner to say she saved my life .... dude cause of her u almost died .... shes always level headed and has been trained well ... its like all of a sudden that went out the window cause of some stupid rut? This episode she shoulda died in at least 7 diff scenarios, in that one episode ... if u dislike this comment then it means you aren't really invested in common sense and her as a character its so obvious logic wasn't part of it ... i get not every episode is gonna be good or about every character but if this was the so called Burgess spotlight episode then she screwed up so badly ...shes gonna get someone killed hopefully future episodes they improved if not no comment ....

Ridiculous ep. 15 What Do You Do
audreyanna5 September 2020
Did somebody else write and/or direct this episode??? I've been loving this show until this stupid episode. I can't believe they released it like this. The other reviewers described why it's stupid. I hope the rest are more like the episodes up to this one.

Terrible episode
joeherrera6831 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is an example of gratuitous writing. Burgess told Voight in a previous episode she wasn't ready for Intelligence and it seems she was right however a patrolman faces more dangers daily than higher ranking police. She and Roman were facing a perp who was POINTING his gun at Roman. The man was half turned away from her and she was in the perfect position and JUSTIFIED to draw her gun and shoot. In a previous episode, Halstead was facing a perp who looked down for two seconds, giving him a chance to disarm him. This was not a good character building episode for Burgess especially with the silly way it ended. I'm watching this show on Amazon Prime many years after it originally aired and there are only a few bad episodes peppered among the really good ones so I'll keep watching.

Worst Episode of all
benjaminbutler-5662911 July 2022
The most pathetic episode of all.

Why the hell, I know kim is emotional, but this episode was epitome of idiocy. Why do this people make female character this dirty. Every thing was irrational and not to be done.

She lost her radio and gun and stll she didnot contact for help, allothers were hurt but had stamina to over power her in every sense, i mean all of them one after the other. She knew her partner was hit on head.... 1) first thing you call for ambulance while you stop the bleeding and why the hell was he picking him up to walk.....then then there after it went down the hill trembling.... Worst Episode!!!!

Burgess talking about human nature
Peter_Romanak6 December 2022
Jesús, what a stupid episode. I'm not dumb and know that every single cop show is a copaganda, never been anything else. But it always gets me when the writers really push for it, like really hard, the "human nature" comment from Burgess being a example of that.

The thug character was right, all that oppression, whether the vile past , or the on-going, less vile, but still horrible oppresion, changes people, for the worst.

The "human nature" is directly influenced by the material conditions. But that's wrong, because police person said so.

If you want to have show with cops, a show that'll never be critical of the system and police, never ever touch subjects like inequality, crime in low-income neighbourhoods etc. Because everytime it boils down to, system good, police very good and those poor people had it coming.
