Weakest Episode of this Season by Far,

Let's go Fly a Coot is a decent Simpsons episode with a storyline that, I hate to admit, is disappointing and not what I've come to expect from this series, but it does have several funny scenes. It has a good few funny moments and it's not the weakest episode the show has ever done, I enjoyed Grampa's role and his dialogue was certainly the funniest, also the scene that parodied The Expendables is the highlight of the whole episode. I didn't feel like it trusted either of it's story lines, neither of them are the main story or the side story, they just kind of jump back and fourth, without either stories feeling they were touched upon as much as they could have. Both of the stories were also, admittedly, not up to standard, the one with the Air Force was promising but it got a little bit ridiculous, and the story with Milhouse's cousin was a disaster from the get go, the constant use of e- cigarettes is unnecessary, with unlikeable voice acting done by Game of Thrones Carice van Houten, who was probably only picked because she has the same surname of Milhouse. Let's go Fly a Coot is not terrible, but it's certainly disappointing and the weakest moment of the twenty sixth season.

The family learn about Grandpa's days in the Air Force while Bart begins to fall for Milhouse's cousin.

Some nice bits in here and some odd additions to the back-stories on a few characters make this a good episode

Warning: Spoilers
This is an episode of the television series "The Simpsons". There will be spoilers ahead:

This episode starts with a better than average couch gag. The beginning of the episode is actually a short scene dealing with children's birthday parties which serves as setup for the two main story lines of the episode. It has an absolutely great riff on one of the strangest soliloquies in movie history, one which probably got Ned Beatty an Oscar nomination.

The finish to the scenario on birthday parties serves to introduce the two primary stories, where Grampa meets a military buddy who flies a WWII vintage aircraft in for a birthday party and where Bart meets Milhouse's Dutch cousin, Annika Van Houten (think female, teenage, taller somewhat cooler version of Milhouse, though not quite as unsettling as it sounds). Annika is voiced by the Dutch actress Carice van Houten, which is a nice touch. We learn, disturbingly yet fittingly, that Milhouse's mom and dad are cousins, which goes a long way toward explaining Milhouse. Bart naturally tries to impress Annika, which leads to all sorts of interesting, occasionally cringe-inducing, moments.

Interestingly enough, the other plot has more of the best lines and bits. Abe wants to relive the old days "when nurses were kissin' ya, instead of beatin' ya!" and Abe's war buddy is unhappy with the way Homer treats his dad, "which is how we treated POWs when the Red Cross wasn't lookin'!", so the pilot and his crew make Homer take Abe to a movie, a sendup of a series of action films featuring old military types. Read the theater marquee, it's hilarious. In this one, we also learn about Abe's relationships and some of his back-story.

The ending of the Bart and Annika story is probably the best part. I'd be curious to know what, if anything, Annika is saying toward the end, as it sounds like she's speaking Dutch. Annika may have the best lines of the episode, when she tells Bart, "You're small and cute, Like Lichtenstein!" and refers to the leggings of shame later on.

While this isn't as good as the best episodes from the early years, it's a good one from the last few years. Well worth watching. Recommended.

A very decent episode for season 26.

This is a good one. Not as good as "Super Franchise Me" or even "Peeping Mom", but better than "The Kids Are All Fight".

The story with Abe is pretty entertaining and the subplot with Bart and a crush is very good. I had many good laughs with this one. Among the best episodes of season 26, definitely.
