I am a Japanese American woman and I was not offended by this episode at all. I found Titus's singing beautiful. The costume was cute. I really liked that the characters were grounded by the beauty and genuineness of the performance. This episode showed that people can love and pay homage to other cultures without poking fun at them and everyone being offended. Plus Japanese culture is very rarely portrayed in the media and this was a very sweet and beautiful portrayal. I haven't seen a single episode yet of this program that I have not enjoyed. I recommend this program. The characters are fun and well developed and there is a sweet light heartedness that I find enjoyable. Plus the dog is super cute!

Warning: Spoilers
Look, real talk, this episode is very tone deaf. It boldly attempts to discuss the use of yellowface and completely screws it up. The Asian American people unhappy with Titus' yellowface are written off as overly sensitive internet haters, misrepresenting the political implications of yellowface entirely.
Given i'm supposed to be kicking back and relaxing when watching a comedy show, I find it really frustrating (as a person of colour) to be reminded of racial/cultural oppressions in my down time. It's just not chill.
Tina Fey used to be one of my favourite writers/producers but unfortunately she can't place herself in racial politics without being offensive. I don't think I can enjoy her works anymore.
