Sex & Nudity

  • Full frontal female nudity is seen many times.
  • A woman says she opened a brothel. Graphic references are then made about prostitution.
  • A doctor is used to taking advantage of his clients by touching them.
  • A woman and a man are lying down after making love. Both naked, but you can't see his genitals.
  • One woman says cutting off a character's genitals would come out "cheap" (easy).

Violence & Gore

  • The series has several scenes of violence, often raw and disturbing. Very strong images are depicted, of physical clashes between women in prison with blood spitting, punches, slaps, kicks; there are acts of self-harm, and stabbings, shots, burns and deep wounds are also visible. The violence is often sexual, a character is raped and becomes pregnant, before deciding to castrate her rapist.
  • The opening four minutes of the first episode of S4 gives a quick summation of the previous three series in one of the most brutal and violent 240 seconds of television you could imagine. Gunfire, stabbings, hangings, strangulations - a smorgasbord of mutilation and murder. And virtually all of it carried out by, and committed upon, women.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drug use for medical or recreational purposes is very common. Inmates frequently smoke cannabis. One of the characters is a drug addict. She is seen injecting herself, eventually overdosing. Some stories about drug trafficking. The characters are seen drinking alcohol.
