Epidemic (2012)

*** (out of 4)

Brandon (Brandon Salkil) starts chomping down on a pizza when he turns the television on and sees that there's an epidemic breaking out and one is warned not to leave or eat anything. Soon Brandon begins to become ill and what follows isn't pretty.

This ten minute short from writer-director Dustin Mills is actually pretty good and it manages to have some really gross out moments as well as some nice black comedy that actually works well. I really thought it was funny how had Brandon turned the television on before eating then he might have avoided all of this. Instead the film opens with him chomping down the pizza. Another funny moment is the reply he gets from the CDC worker.

The film does have some memorable body mutilation moments that are bound to have your skin crawling. Mills does a very good job with his directing duties and certainly makes this one to watch.
