I didn't really know much about Jim Gaffigan so entered into this show with an open mind.

I thought this was a good opener, with some laugh out loud moments.

The best moments did involve Adam Goldberg, who is a joy in nearly everything he appears in.

I'd be interested in seeing where this leads.

A promising start....

Despite being the first episode, it's listed as 1.2 on IMDb....and I have no idea why.

This is the first episode of "The Jim Gaffigan Show" and I watched it because I think Gaffigan is one of the funniest stand-up comedians alive today (unfortunately, stand-up guys seem to be dying off a lot these days--especially the ones I like). The show is a fictionalized life where Gaffigan kind of plays himself--and like his stand-up persona, he's quite endearing and likable.

The episode begins with Jim's wife informing him she's pregnant--and this will make six kids and the two of them in a small New York apartment. He's not happy but keeps this to himself--and it turns out she is NOT pregnant--it's just a false alarm. This scare, however, gets him thinking, briefly, about a vasectomy--something this weak and scared man really doesn't want to get. But through the course of the show practically everyone learns about this and gives him advice. Soon, ALL of them accompany Jim to the consultation with the doctor! Jim is trapped and might not be able to weasel out of this procedure.

Overall, an enjoyable and funny start to the show. Whether it turns out to be a great show or not is for time to tell. Well worth seeing.
