It Takes Eleven Minutes To Build A Railroad Engine
boblipton10 September 2023
That's in screen time, of course. This silent short movie covers the construction and launching of a railroad engine of more than 3,000 horse power over the course of weeks, from the beginning in which the form is built out of wood, to having the engine come out of the shop, then on to a railroad station.

It's an iron foundry, where skilled workers produce everything from the piston rods to the spring leaves, and assemble them with the gauges -- bought from specialty manufacturers -- to produce the engines which powered trains. It uses then-standard film techniques, some of them dating back to the 1890s to show he process.
