The Purge

This parody of 'The Purge' is better than the actual movie. In fact I watched that movie off the back of this and was utterly disappointed. Watched Rick & Morty a number of times in general and I gain more on each viewing.

A sharply-written, hilarious comeback of Rick and Morty
choorydanny28 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Following a disappointing episode, Rick and Morty has lost its excellence by such a misfire that Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate was.

However we have been compensated by this bloody vicious satire on civilization that spoofs the Purge films and raises such questions as the glorification of violence and gore just as much as our evil inside.

Look Who's Purging Now brings back that well-received violently grotesque tone to the season that had made it so memorable on such great levels. Utterly funny, well-written, layered in characters, fast- paced and vicious. That's what I like about it.

Only one episode left in the season. Writers, keep shining!

Purging

Nice episode, Nice adventure and interesting subject. The stories were very cool, The story of Jerry and Summer, and Rick and Morty. Especially the relationship between Jerry and Samer was great.

Great as usual

I thought I had seen every episode of this show and I'm fairly certain this is the one episode I haven't seen. What makes this great is how Rick and Morty find themselves in this situation even though they explicitly state they don't want to. It seems like they'll be able to easily defy the storyline but end up becoming a part of it. The action scenes are probably what make this the most interesting. I am so glad I got to see Rick and Morty in the armor I see in the intro. I don't know why this planet has a world full of cat people. I mean, there's really no reason for them to look like that.

I love when they break the fourth wall and mention the candy bar in the first act and how Morty's character has remained intact. Yeah, Morty will probably never get lucky. I like the satire with the bad writer, especially with, "Why don't we go back to three weeks ago when you're alive?!". Rick delivers the best lines and I love how he just zaps Morty to stop him. I had no idea those suits would come from that machine he sent for. My only complaint about this episode is that the subplot with Summer and Morty's dad doesn't really go anywhere. Still great. ***1/2

Violence purging!

Amazing. The violence was amazing. The blood, comedy, and funny, scary situation of Rick and Morty was awesome! Look who's purging now delivers a strong episode full of violence, action, and wittiness.

Seems too self aware and pandering...maybe a new writer?

This episode to me is a different flavor than all the others. Have to say that it felt a little stilted and "trying too hard" to be relevant with the cultural references. I didn't see the imagination and recklessness that made the previous episodes so amazing. Maybe there was a different writer? The whole episode seemed a very thin social commentary, and not as zany or surprising. I would say that if you liked the other episodes, this is probably fun but not classic. Like a Family Guy filler episode. But like Family Guy, I really HOPE this style doesn't become the norm, because it'll draw the series away from its roots, into the kinda fluff you could see anywhere.

Violent & depressing
beatrizmarijuan8 February 2018
It's good & effective in transmitting some interesting ideas but to me there's too much explicit unnecessary violence & I can hardly get past it. The nihilism, pessimism & lack of empathy of other episodes was stimulating & thought-provoking but in this episode there's so much of it that it becomes just unpleasant & plain depressing. I suppose that's part of the intention but it's still hard to watch. If you're not very sensitive to horror you'll be fine but I found it really gruesome.
