Ichabod Crane : [Crane starting to take a bite, puts the sandwich back down] The bald boy with awful luck? Gooood grief.
[Abbie laughs]
Ichabod Crane : I take offense.
Abbie Mills : I'll make us a real sandwich. You can give me a hand.
[Abbie takes the ingredients out of the fridge, handing them to Crane as he eyes her curiously]
Abbie Mills : I'll see your wheels turning... Go on and ask.
Ichabod Crane : You saw your father.
Abbie Mills : I did. I'm still processing it.
Ichabod Crane : By your tone, am I to assume this topic is to be shelved until a later discussion?
Abbie Mills : Nailed it. But I will talk about the fact that it has been hard lately, adjusting to being back, and I guess I want you to know that I am working on it.
Ichabod Crane : [Ichabod smiles and rises, walking over next to her] You have endured an ordeal few can imagine.
Abbie Mills : Except you... You know exactly what it's like to look around and everything is exactly the same, but completely different.
[He looks at her endearingly]
Abbie Mills : . I'm trying really hard.
Ichabod Crane : And you will succeed. Just as you were by my side when I returned to Sleepy Hollow, so I shall be by yours.
[Abbie looks at him sweetly]
Abbie Mills : You know what I'm in the mood for? A beer.
Ichabod Crane : Oh! A pint of ale to raise one's spirits aloft, and I believe Miss Jenny is tending bar at Mabie's tavern this evening.
Abbie Mills : Okay, you go--grab us a table. I need twenty minutes to finish some work, and then I'll pay for the next round.
Ichabod Crane : Very good.
Abbie Mills : [Ichabod throws the sandwich together and starts to take a bite] No! I want hot wings.
Ichabod Crane : Oh...
[Places it on the counter, walking behind her, smiling at each other]
Ichabod Crane : No poultry is safe in Sleepy Hollow on this dark night.
