Exclusive: Veteran animation producer Rick Mischel has formed a studio in Canada after acquiring Yeti Farm Creative Animation Studio.
Artists Animation Studio will be headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia. Mischel, a Sony and Technicolor producer and exec, will be CEO of the venture and its founder. He completed the deal through his Reach Media vehicle. Financial details were not revealed.
The studio will be located the former Yeti Farm facility and will offer full-scale animation services and access to British Columbia’s Canadian tax credit incentives. It will primarily focus on 2D Harmony and hand-drawn animation for children’s and adult animation series, films, adverts and digital content.

The series is a rebranding of the “Roseanne” reboot and will not include former star Roseanne Barr. “The Conners” stars John Goodman (“Dan”), Laurie Metcalf (“Jackie”), Sara Gilbert (“Darlene”), Lecy Goranson (“Becky”), Michael Fishman (“D.J.”), Emma Kenney (“Harris”), Ames McNamara (“Mark”), and Jayden Rey (“Mary”) as the Conners. The series premieres on ABC on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. Et/Pt.

Hotel Transylvania: The Series will be back for a second go-round. Sony Pictures Animation and Nelvana picked up a second season of the hit animated comedy series. Disney Channel in the U.S. and their global territories, and Teletoon Canada, a network owned by Nelvana parent company Corus Entertainment, will broadcast the new episodes.
In its first season, Hotel Transylvania: The Series was among Disney Channel’s top three animated series among Kids 6-11, Girls 6-11, Kids 6-14 and Girls 6-14.
Hotel Transylvania: The Series is currently available on Disney Channels Worldwide, Teletoon Canada and Super Rtl in Germany. The series’ first season also premiered on Netflix in the U.S. in June and will continue to roll out throughout the world starting this fall.
