Faltered in the execution and the first season is a mess
saadamanindia9 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I streamed it on Netflix - until around the start of the fifth season (or Part - I'd say arc?). I will continue soon, but here are my thoughts -

Let's begin with the worst season per se - the first season. It has three episodes (which, are not enough. At least 10 or so would make sense). The story revolves around Prince Charles-Prince Harry hybrid Crown Prince Xander, who is an immature social influencer and is happening to go to Maywood Glen (which from later references I believe to be a Silicon Valley commuter town or something). It is cringe and a pain to get through. McKellar does well, but the other characters are sloppy and painfully un-agent-like and un-likeable. 3/10 for the first season. No good story - or execution.

The second season has a different storyline - this time it is about anarcho-primitivism. A person called "Retro" is setting up a scheme to end technology up to the 1980s. It is not that scheme, but a carefully planned data-harvesting scheme on NOV-8, the elite organization that the girls are purported to be part of. It ups the story a bit - makes interesting characters - and sets up an interesting narrative but still falls flat. Both supporting characters (and future agents) Devon DeMarco and Ember Evergreen are introduced as recurring characters in the last two of the six. Would give it 6/10, not bad.

The third season revolves around technology a lot - and while still very poor in scientific accuracy - actually looks geeky. Zuckerberg wannabe Simon Temple and his dad (the Havoc founder Kragen Vexx) are the main villains. This story is all about deception and has likeable twists, although McKayla returns to being annoying and not understanding. Over-all, my favorite season so far. Easy 8.5/10.

The fourth season is essentially a DCOM or NOM (Netflix Original Movie), and revolves around Xander once again. The story is just PG-rated "King Charles III (watch it" and Wendell is like William (while Xander like Charles). While it was thin, I liked this one decently. Also, Kyle playing a big role is also fun. Hard, but 7/10 at least.

Finally we have the first few minutes of Season 5. Seem like an odd mishmash of S1 & S5. Jumbled and too many A. D. I. S. N. Stuff going on. But still, 6.5/10.

McKayla is not removable but can do with a character aggrandization decontaminator. A. D. I. S. N. Takes getting used to. Remove Bryden Bandweth, even with her IT skills, she is the most cringe. Camryn Coyle is okay I'd guess, but has less science more presentation skills (think Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, still skilled but a better presenter per se). Adrienne Attoms is fun with her Española, but also too fashion-focused. Devon should have some kind of science to her. Amber and Maddie are okay, but can get toned down. Justin is far too generic.

6.20 points out of ten - roughly 3 stars out of 5. You have to watch the first season - and it is hard to get through, but it'll be far easier out going forward. Ages 7 through 13. High school onwards this might be a tad too cheesy.

My Daughter makes me watch this
heatherbrittany17 January 2019
I'm giving it a 5 because my child for some reason loves this show. Sure it's got a cute concept but the script is horrible, it's a lot of really bad acting, and the girls are super annoying. On the plus it does have some good looking people on the show so bonus for that I guess.

Cheesy
abigailmason-9161227 December 2022
The show was okay. I have seen a lot worse bur also a lot better. But it was definitely intertaining and i think if you are a smaller kid its a good show to watch. Like i said its very very cheesy but i watched it wirh my fruends and we enjoyed it but looking back we all say that it was cheesy but it can make us laugh. Its very distracting if you have a bad day so i do recommend it. Mostly to very you g children. I personally enjoyed trying some of the things they did. I was expecting it to be better but in the end it could have been a lit worse. The story line could have been better to. But i can not stay it was a horrible show. I would probably watch it again if i need a distraction. Again you cant hate it or live it.

Four girls prove that smart really is the new cool
coffee-cat25 August 2015
I watched the first season with my daughter. We were both enchanted from the beginning. I should mention that she's addicted to Disney shows but finds the lack of truly smart characters a problem. In this series, the acting, writing, science and directing are more than merely competent. The girls are likable, cool, and smart. This is not your typical geek-turned-savior story. There are also no damsels in distress or princesses waiting to be granted life by an unwitting prince. The plots are aimed a bit above the usual tween show, but the science is not so over-the-top that younger girls will feel perplexed. In short, science is good, smart is cool, and Danica McKellar is a genius for bringing this to our children. Please release more episodes of this show...fast!

Failed to deliver on every promise
ariaclements21 October 2016
We wanted to like this show. The premise sounds wonderful. Who wouldn't want a show about girls using STEM subject to solve crime? AND Danica McKeller is in it?! Sounds fabulous! So my daughter and I gave it a try.

Unfortunately the show fails to deliver. The girls are astonishingly stupid. The scene that sticks out the most to me is how the social-media guru left location services on when she posted online about being with a prince they were protecting. Rather than this being a learning experience, it was hand-waved with an "oh no, his fangirls found us." At best, they're caricatures of smart girls, and that's not a good thing since it says smart girls are really stupid. My 6-year-old pointed that out.

Danica isn't truly in the show. Her part is basically phoned in. She's only shown via video, and the quality is such that she can record her lines anywhere there's a black backdrop. I suspect she really does that.

So we are on the hunt again for smart girls into STEM subjects.

Please Do More Seasons
cfnobert3 November 2015
My 9 year old in in love with science due to this show. She is having a blast with the online clues and experiments.

We need more shows like this. Smart, respectful young women who can do anything. Teaching our girls that "Smart is the new cool," is the best message that we can offer.

Having each girl specialize in an area and for them to have to work together to be successful is amazing. Also having supportive and smart parents is something that most shows do not have.

Please keep the series going. Please let me know what I can do to make sure that my daughter can have more shows to watch.

Horrible and Groan-Inducing
ccimmortalwitch18 December 2015
So completely eye-rolling and groans at awful cliché characters and a plot that makes no sense. Smart, talented girls? Ha. More like, unintelligent, antisocial control freaks. The one girl who's supposed to be a spy is horrible at it. She literally turns around and says "Oh, yeah! I'm on a SUPER-CONFIDENTIAL mission so don't tell anyone, alright?" This might fit if it were some cheesy comedy, but it is supposed to be some neat, original series. How bland and unoriginal. Not to mention looking like some crappy skit right out of Disney Channel like Girl Meets World. Don't agree with me? Watch it for yourself. Now, some would say that this show is meant for kids. And I have to disagree. Kids are way too smart for this show.

Great show for tween girls (and boys!)
alyo-314 December 2015
I watched this with my 6 year old daughter because we saw the dolls. I am stoked there is a live-action show that I can feel good about her watching. I don't let her watch the Disney channel tween shows. This show doesn't have a laugh track or rude sarcasm. The girls are smart and funny. The actresses are so adorable--it was cast wonderfully. I like the mystery/case-solving plot (instead of a typical "does that boy like me?" or "my teacher/parents are idiots" plot line). The adults are positive influences in the characters' lives. I also love the ethnic diversity of the characters and their clothes are so fun. I highly recommend this show on Netflix.

A cringey mess
drpage7 August 2017
Before I get too ahead of myself, I am somebody very fluent with a lot of the scientific topics they ramble on about. This show has a lot of issues, both at trying to be something that is supposed to present Science and Tech as this super "cool" thing. -I was not once convinced any of the main cast either built, knew, or understood anything they were using. -The universe they live in seems to be full of completely stupid people so that their moderate levels of stupid seem smart. -The "geeky" jokes don't even make sense. For example, toward the end of the very first episode, they make a joke about their initials saying a^2, b^2, and c^2, then referencing the Pythagorean Theorem. The problem is they only care about the letters, not the actual meaning of that theorem that says to add a^2 and b^2 and it satisfies c^2 ONLY in certain circumstances. It only makes sense if you learned that the three number variables are a, b, and c and makes zero use of the actual joke. Once again, illustrating my point that either the writers are scientifically illiterate, or these girls don't know Maths well enough to know that pun didn't even make sense as a joke. -Another example (once again from the first episode), once they get inside one of the girl's secret lab area, one of the girls proceeds in a pretty wacky way to smash a can over one of the girl's (the one owning the lab) walking robot and somehow it works just fine. First, nobody scientific in mind at all would at one moment just take something they have never seen before and just do something that radical without properly analyzing it. -There are at least a few times where the "hacker" girl seems to have the magical ability to "hack" something within less than a few seconds, how is this even possible? Was that computer not even in sleep mode or something? -The characters come off as preppy teens that know nothing about the subjects they rattle off. How can somebody have an "app" that reads fingerprints while simultaneously not understand enough of what she is even explaining about other things.

Either way, seems like a deliberate and sloppy mess. I'd think this would be a lot more fun if I could buy their characters, and two, not push such a heavy emphasis on "science and technology" when they just act as an ex machina to do things without any actual understanding of how they work. If the show used it as a vehicle and they were given some kind of super powers or super alien technology (and this was established from day 1), I'd be less skeptical. This show comes off a posers representation of Science and Tech (if its goal is to push that as a girl-positive thing). Not even a prodigy can do half the stuff these girls can do, but they exhibit ZERO personality that give me the hint these girls worked very very hard to understand even half they apparently do. It's kind of like watching monkeys play with toys some scientists gave them, it's really embarrassing as somebody that loves Science to see it presented in such a way.

Made me like Science!
mathuraadya7 February 2022
This show is fun and interesting and has many mysteries which it even better. I took one star away because of 'Go us, go us' and the silly jokes they make. Rest all good and it's fantastic show for all age groups. Good Work 👍

This is not the way
engelst4 November 2021
It's a good thing to make more girls interested in science.

But the end does not justify the means. The girls in MC² are for the most part empty-headed dolls. Giving them more normal attire and meaningful dialogue and character would have helped to raise their credibility.

On the science part, it's also mostly show. There are too few examples of smart things kids their age could actually put together. Instead they are toting "inventions" of their own that are simply modified gadgets used by most kids.

Odd Squad is much better in every way, even though it targets a slightly younger audience. And for girl power, the Babysitters Club has both its feet soundly on the ground.

Cute Show
cmatye27 July 2019
The first couple episodes are pretty bad, but the later seasons are much better. It reminds me a little bit of Gem from the 80's. Fun show for girls.

Puke Fest
sanadsaned25 November 2017
I saw this show on Netflix and decided to sit down with my 70 year old daughter and watch this show.

This show presented me with interesting characters and a unique topic that not many kids shows explore, as a science geek my self I was looking forward to the puns and jokes that this show would provide but after finishing all the seasons I had to ask multiple times, are these people illiterate?

It actually shocked me how dumb these writers were, and the actors? It is clear that all these girls wanted to do is read a Cosmopolitan Issue and compare which One Direction member most represents their preffered way to wipe. It was harder to finish the show than it was to divorce a radical Muslim I truly think it is the worst show ever made with clearly forced diversity and a cast bigger than brady bunch although I've never seen Brady Bunch but I'm sure that show has a huge cast.

In conclusion my mom always said don't say mean things to people so I'll give this show a (1+0) out of 10, an equation that a 8 year old can solve, but the cast of this show probably can't.

Four genius girls save the day - what's not to love?
imdb-821216 January 2016
We just got Netflix and discovered this show. Oh - My - Gosh! This show is the perfect blend of quirky science-y teen girls that may not always fit in with the "cool kids" and the unending excitement of "Spy Kids" movies.

Being late to the Netflix party we didn't even know this show existed until today. And we binge watched all three episodes! The story follows one trained spy who is placed in a school to perform one mission. She ends up making friends with three other girls in spite of her grating, left-brained and self-reliant attitude. Together they use their individual "nerdy" skills to save the world.

If you're a 9-13 year old and you loved "Spy Kids" or "Shark Boy and Lava Girl" you'll love "Project MC2".

Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this shortly after Season 3 was released. I finished it in 2 days! It is so amazing! It proves that girls like science too. I can't wait for future seasons! Mika Abdalla is just fantastic as McKeyla McAllister! It just feels so real! This show definitely gets 10 stars! I highly recommend it! Every actress and actor are so great playing their roles! Now, I really want to learn a lot about science, just like these girls. I can really see why everyone loves this show. Every episode is beyond amazing. Also, their sense of fashion is incredible! They are so fashionable! Plus, McKeyla's lab is amazing!! 10 out of 10 stars.

Amazing and cool show Warning: Spoilers
First thing, mckyle ( mckeyla and Kyle's ship name) are really cute. Their kiss in the finale is literally gives you an amazing feeling. I love how smart all of them are. They all have a great personality and friendship. The creators are great at building suspense, especially in the last season. The finale is one of my favourite episodes . The characters are amazingly talented and smart. But also relatable.cam and Bry's relationship is really nice. I really like the way the script is made and written. The writers are great at making shows based on this one. I know this show isn't that old. But it's still already iconic.

I recommend to most ages.(little kids probably won't like this show)
